Iv ad a BAD weekend and my sisters friend who has sufferd with fibro for 11 years, advised me try gabapentin as she swears by it making her much better. Has anybody tried this medication? she also says to use sea kelp?

So your docs have diagnosed you with Lyme, and are treating you with gabapentin and also some other meds intravenously (IV) through the tube in your veins? What medications are they giving you through the IV? And are you taking any other meds?

Paula, I wanted to let you know what I found out about my steroids. I have super small veins so I can't keep an IV in. They recommended a baby IV for me, because it is so small it doesn't leave a mark or bruise. I also am not sure how long they kept you on your previous dose but maybe the answer is to shorten it? Instead of doing 5 days, just do 3 days. I don't know about you but it was the the 4th and 5th days that wreaked havoc on my body.

Hi txsilver. It's been awhile. Just a couple days ago I was diagnosed with Lyme disease. This would be the 3rd time I have it. The second time I had IV therapy. Now I'm going to the hospital to have a pic line put in my arm into my heart. Everyday I have to go for IV therapy through my line for about 4-6 weeks. My Rheumatoid Factor test has been positive for the last couple years of about 140. Docs thought I have RA which I might.

And yea Iv talkd to a few other people about taking gabapentin...and iv decided to stay away from it, i heard wayyyy more bad than good about it...and take new meds really freaks me out esp if i havent heard alot about it, apon reading online i am pretty sure i have rheumitoid arthritis and not fibro....my joints swell and get hot and red....and my muscles ache as well...its worse in the morning time, and as it gets colder here its getting worse...

I finished a three day course of solumedrol last Friday. I felt marginally better (less dizzy, better strength in my left leg) for a few days. Then on Sunday, my trigeminal neuralgia and headache (associated with TN??) came back full force. I've had to add 100 mg of extra gabapentin and I'm still having pain. Has anyone had a renewal of sx after stopping the steroids? Man, I feel worse than ever.

ve had a horrible experience with Solumedrol as well.....Back in March I had extreme leg and groin numbness and went on IV Solumedrol for 3 days....I had a nasty reaction to it, but it DID take away the numbness and vision problems almost immediately....Well, within 48 hours anyway..... In May the left side of my head and face went numb and because I was visiting the MS Clinic at that time, I declined the Solumedrol treatment.....That numbness didn't go away for 20 days.....

Hi. I'm wondering if it is safe for me to take Gabapentin for withdrawal symptoms from methadone? I read somewhere that the gaba is sometimes prescribed for that. I have never taken it before in my life and got a hold of a few 300mg capsules the other day. I have been into opiates off and on for about 8 years, getting pretty bad into them this past year. I think it is alot mental with me though. I started off on Perc 5's and 10's, graduating to oxy 30's about a year ago.

Just wanted to let everyone know how things are going. I can't believe how well gabapentin has worked. I've been thru the withdrawals going cold turkey 3 times in the past without anything to help. I was presribed gabapentin about a month ago for pain. It didn't help for that. I did some research on it and it is used for withdrawals. It has been 90% easier than before and trust me, I know how bad it is.

Hello, I am new to this group. I have had more than 85 blood tests since I was diagnosed with Lyme in July of 2014. All have been negative. I have been on may drugs for pain and currently on Gabapentin for vocal cord/coughing issues and leg pain (knee, calf, left side back). I don't think it is helping much. Is anyone else on Gabapentin?

Because I seem to be responding better to this latter drug, I am now slowly weaning off the gabapentin. I guess if the pain increases as I go off the gabapentin, this will tell me it was helping more than I realized. I have no side effects from the gabapentin, even at such a high dose. I do find the 50mg amitriptyline makes me very drowsy, and may need to scale it back to 40mg if this side effect continues.

Has anyone expierence swelling of the face with gabapentin? I know it can be a side effect. My question is; Is this an allergic reaction or is the dosage too much? Actually my face feels stiff at times and cheeks get sore. If it is the gabapentin, what would be the alternative? Thank you med help family........

Has anyone else taken Gabapentin for all of these pains neuralgia migraines? I'm petrified to take this drug because of all the bad side affects! Did it help or harm anyone? Or should I wait to see the NS first before I take it?

I had an episode of burning on my forhead and cheeks and pins and needle feelings in which I started Gabapentin for. Over a 4 week period I gradually increased the dosage to what I am on now, 300mg three times daily. This seems to help greatly with the nerve pain but I started after 2 weeks to develop a very itchy neck, ear lobe, and face. My face sometimes looked like it was burned. Im just wondering if anyone has had this while taking Gabapentin.

Went to a new doctor today and he seems to feel the vicodene is no longer working so he had prescribed me gabapentin-100 mgs. three times a day. My concern now is withdrawing from the vocoden. doctor has suggested that I taper down to half a pill a week (of the vicodene). Of course I did not tell him how much I was taking of the vicodene.In searching this forum I have read different opions on the gabaperntin.

second day without the pain pills! But the doctor today gave me gabapentin for pain is it addictive? I dont need another addiction.
