neurontin

Avatar n tn I am currently on the maximum dose of gabapentin. Is there anything else to try? Is the damage due to inflammation or some other type of damage to the nerve? Thank you. This discussion is related to Trigeminal nerve damage.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am new to this group. I have had more than 85 blood tests since I was diagnosed with Lyme in July of 2014. All have been negative. I have been on may drugs for pain and currently on Gabapentin for vocal cord/coughing issues and leg pain (knee, calf, left side back). I don't think it is helping much. Is anyone else on Gabapentin?
Avatar f tn m wondering is, does this dose sound large enough to be effective? How long did it take you guys for gabapentin to work? Or just any experiences you have to share would be great! Well, thanks, you all! I appreciate the help.

293157 tn?1285873439 Hi..I went to see my GP today, he asked how it went at the Neuro and I told him....how the Neuro said "why r you here"...etc... and how after he did the Neuro exam he wants to look further into my file etc...incase he missed something..now with the new MRI info...he feels it should give the Neuro the info he needs. My GP would not say I have MS or ?? He said to wait to see the Neuro and see what he has to say.....
Avatar f tn I was perscribed Gabapentin which is generic for Lyrica, I believe. I was perscribed this prior to my diagnosis and my insurance just approved it. Does this medication help w/the pain or what? I have never taken this before and don't know exactly what it is for. The doctor who prescribed it gave it to me months ago but my insurance said they didn't cover it so I just forgot about it and then I got the diagnosis and didn't think much of it after that.
706116 tn?1229191877 As far as the condom failures go, they have happened twice with CSW supplied condoms (I know not which brand) and once with ones I supplied, Trojan Magnums. I tend to have very vigorous intercourse with CSW's and that is what I attribute the breakage to. I am careful to never cause injury to my CSW partners, several of whom are regulars, and I never use any oil based lubricants. The only lube I use with a CSW is AstroGlide that I bring to the appointment so I know where it's been.
Avatar f tn I'm taking gabapentin for TN and occipital neuralgia (I assume is probably lessens the tingling in my arm and leg as well) and most of the time I have reasonable pain control. However, there are times when the pain really flares up and I'm not sure if there's anything I can do for that. I don't know if gabapentin (neurontin) has a "short term" effect--e.g. if I took an extra dose, would it help?
293157 tn?1285873439 Hi everyone, I was wondering how many friends here take either Gabapentin or Lyrica...I'm just wondering if it's a common drug to use... and if alot of people use these meds for tingling, leg pains, etc. How many have used either of these and stopped them because they didn't help or because of the side effects? How many use either of them and which one do they prefer? I'm in the middle of this... and need some advise on it.. thanks for any replies...
Avatar f tn Went to a new doctor today and he seems to feel the vicodene is no longer working so he had prescribed me gabapentin-100 mgs. three times a day. My concern now is withdrawing from the vocoden. doctor has suggested that I taper down to half a pill a week (of the vicodene). Of course I did not tell him how much I was taking of the vicodene. In searching this forum I have read different opions on the gabaperntin.
Avatar f tn Hello, everyone! I am a 16-year-old girl and I take gabapentin for nerve pain (we think...) My neurologist gave me a perscription for 1800 mg per day. The other day, I went to a Christmas party and left the gabapentin at home, so I missed a dose. I got a horrible stomach ache that night and was miserable. The next day, I took the medicine, and the stomach aches are gone. i also have gotten weird vision problems when I accidentally miss a dose.
Avatar m tn Most of the individuals described in these reports had a history of poly-substance abuse or used Gabapentin to relieve symptoms of withdrawal from other substances. When prescribing Gabapentin carefully evaluate patients for a history of drug abuse and observe them for signs and symptoms of Gabapentin misuse or abuse (e.g. development of tolerance, self-dose escalation, and drug-seeking behavior).
Avatar f tn I switched from a RE in Czech Republic who did my IVF and supplied my progesterone- vaginal suppositories, to a local OBGYN who gave me a further prescription for progesterone in the form of prometrium capsules (the little pink 100mg balls). My prescription says to be taken vaginally, but the info leaflet says to be taken orally. Can you take the same capsule either orally or vaginally as a suppository?
Avatar n tn how was the surgey for you? i am 33 and due to have surgery on may 12. i am very worried about it.
Avatar f tn I was put on Gabapentin for fibromyalgia symptoms today. If anyone else has used it, how well did it work?
Avatar m tn The information supplied is very small. To be honest given the circumstances, I would consider a trip to the ER. They would do an ecg and also blood work and further evaluation. The bp numbers are quit high and the normal guideline is if systolic is over 180 its time for urgent er evaluation.
Avatar m tn The paraspinals are muscles in the back that are supplied by branches of the nerves in this region. The acute denervation may be related to the surgery itself. It takes time for nerves to reinnervate muscles. All of these changes can be heard/seen on the EMG screen. For the pain itself, treatment would include re-operation, chronic pain intervention, rehabilitation, and/or neuropathic medications. It sounds like these have been discussed with you.
Avatar f tn Has anyone expierence swelling of the face with gabapentin? I know it can be a side effect. My question is; Is this an allergic reaction or is the dosage too much? Actually my face feels stiff at times and cheeks get sore. If it is the gabapentin, what would be the alternative? Thank you med help family........
Avatar f tn I had an episode of burning on my forhead and cheeks and pins and needle feelings in which I started Gabapentin for. Over a 4 week period I gradually increased the dosage to what I am on now, 300mg three times daily. This seems to help greatly with the nerve pain but I started after 2 weeks to develop a very itchy neck, ear lobe, and face. My face sometimes looked like it was burned. Im just wondering if anyone has had this while taking Gabapentin.
Avatar f tn Hi could anyone help me please?
