I was perscribed Gabapentin which is generic for Lyrica, I believe. I was perscribed this prior to my diagnosis and my insurance just approved it. Does this medication help w/the pain or what? I have never taken this before and don't know exactly what it is for. The doctor who prescribed it gave it to me months ago but my insurance said they didn't cover it so I just forgot about it and then I got the diagnosis and didn't think much of it after that.
I now take 1800mg per day, 300mg with breakfast, 600 in early afternoon of the generic gabapentin, after driving is done for the day (am retired), 300mg. at dinner, 600mg at bedtime. This does not relieve all pain, but makes it possible to function somewhat and sleep at night. Weight loss is really hard, my thinking is slow, too much "foot-time" near bedtime still causes too much pain for sleeping.
Neurontin is only available by prescription but there is a generic called Gabapentin that is much cheaper but you would still have to pay full price for a doctor visit to get the script. I also take Gabapentin, 1800 mg a day. The max dose is 3600 mg a day. There is also Lyrica and Cymbalta but both of those are very pricey prescription meds.
I also take two over the counter Aleve every morning immediately when I wake up.
Patent comes off dec 2009 if I recall. As far as cost - if you have insurance once it's generic it usually goes on the cheaper generic copay list if you have that sort of insurance. so for instance if with your insurance you pay $30 for non-generic drugs on the approved list and $10 for generics on the approved list - you'd be paying $20 less/month for your valtrex. Typically it's 30% reduction in price when it goes generic initially for paying out of pocket.

Is anyone out there taking Teva's version of Nexium? I'm to the point now where I can't get the brand. I was astonished to see that this generic version's co-pay through my insurance is so high! $80 for 90 days. I could understand this price for the brand, but for generic? Anyway, I had tried this version as I had to with my last insurance, it and I didn't do as well on it. I tried it for a week. I an wondering if it was just my imagination.

I have been getting injections for this when its unbearable, but im apprehensive about surgical treatment. I have been on (6 yrs) Gabapentin, now at 1200mg 4 times a day along with Oxycontin and breakthu oxycodone. I'm also taking Celebrex as needed Duloxetine 60 mg at night and Tizanidine 4mg twice a day, as needed, Xanax as needed. In the last month i started experiencing severe depression, insomnia, memory issues, mind fog and libido issues.
I take gabapentin (the brand name here is also Neurontin, but it is now available in the U.S. as the generic gabapentin.) I take it for nerve pain as well. Some folks say it helps getting off opiates, but there is no way to avoid feeling sick when you finally stop them.

It varies from person to person. Common medications for neuropathy include Gabapentin(as others mentioned--but know that the correct dose for you may be quite different than for someone else), Elavil(Amitryptiline) and Lyrica. There are others also used but these are the most common currently.

This has kept the RLS under control but about 7pm has sent me to sleep - most inconvenient for evening meetings! Today my specialist put me on Gabapentin - 100mg twice a day for one week, increasing by 100mg per dose per week up to 600mg in the sixth week. I have therefore stopped the Ropinerole. What I forget to ask is what time of day/night it is best to take the Gabapentin capsules. My RLS is (was) bad in the evenings & through the night.
I take a cousin to your Epleptin, which the generic for yours is Gabapentin, and mine is Pregabalin or Lyrica. I have a lot of pain in my body from tearing up my back in a car accident years ago, it really helps it so much, and I think it will help your headaches a lot. Also, it is an anti-seizure type drug, so it helps with people who have musculature trouble. Also, once you get used to the drug, sometimes doctors will increase the dose until you reach a plateau of comfort.
Hi has anyone been on gabapentin or heard of it before? I have had 3 discectomies on L4/L5 disc and now have tissue scarring leaving me with the same as before all my surgeries. I have been prescribed gabapentin this week for nerve damage in that area of my back. I am in first week on it and taking 600mg per day.
I, myself, have Medicare along with the part D, receive the extra help program and pay $2.50 for generic prescriptions and $6.30 for brand name ones.

I take the toprol xl and I use the generic and it cost me roughly $20 and I take 125mg twice a day. but you must make sure it is the generic for toprol xl because there is metoprolol succinate which is the generic for toprol xl and metoprolol tartrate which is the generic for lopressor. They both work in two different ways so they can not be interchanged at the same dose. I asked this question before toprol xl became a generic.
I have search online for generic entecavir and i found a good news that Cipla, an india company has produced a generic for entecavir. However, i have search through the online pharmacy which provide generic entecavir, none of their shipping company covers south east asia, which is very disappointing.

Not sure your dose of Cymbalta or Gabapentin… Perhaps you could increase the dosage of one of them??? I used to take Gabapentin, but it caused me to gain weight like there was no tomorrow, so I insisted that I be given something else.
You can also talk to your doctor about Topamax (generic is Topiramate). I was on that for several years and did better than anything else but my neuro wanted me off it, so I agreed to go with the Duloxetine.

Hi Grace, I just wanted to point out that a lot of us here in the US are uninsured and don't have a "provider". therefore it's the cost and means of getting the prescription itself that is the big hurdle to getting the Acyclovir treatment. Do you know of any other ways an uninsured person can get a doctor to write a prescription without having to pay $300 for an out of pocket office visit?
