neurontin

Avatar f tn Good morning. I slept all night again. That's just crazy! I swear this gabapentin is magic! I also took an ambien. Slept for 8 hours. I feel like crap when I'm up, but at least I'm sleeping. Only 50 hours in. It makes a ton if difference. Maybe its good karma for fighting going back on these things. Whatever it is I'll take it. Ok day 3 let's get this over with!
Avatar m tn Introduce me one useful medication for sleeping left arm ,some times per day. A usefull medication to not be sensitive to opposit speeches.
Avatar m tn but he never had trouble sleeping.....have you tried over the counter sleeping aids? melatonin? do you take the gabapentin right before bed? If so, try taking it quite a bit earlier. Sorry i wasnt much help. I dont know enough about the drug.
Avatar f tn I found this drug did not help my sleeping although it says it causes sleepiness. Gabapentin helps for my sleeping with no side effects to speak of BUT watch what you mix Gabapentin with. It can have side effects with other medication so I have to monitor what I take and when.
7827044 tn?1399391443 Please ignore this original post. I am back to taking the gabapentin and no long blame it for all my issues I had going on. I feel better now taking it again and will NEVER again quit a medicine cold turkey. Worst experience ever.
5657776 tn?1371799886 I have trouble sleeping when i take gabapentin. I take 600mg at bedtime right now. My doctor just started me on it and I took this 5 hours ago. I am supposed to take another 300mg in the morning. I took the 600mg at like 9 pm. It is now almost 3am so I took 20 mg of cyclobenzaprine and the am dose of gabapentin. Is this safe? Like I said I am new to these meds and want to make sure I am not overdoing it.
1983221 tn?1333506185 I also applaud Gabapentin (neurontin) it works well for me also but does take some tapering or getting used to, I should say
Avatar f tn I see my new endocrinologist for that tomorrow. Good luck with the gabapentin. I hope it works as well for you as it seems to for me.
Avatar f tn The only possible scenario that I can think of to use gabapentin for balance is that it is given for neuropathy (nerve pain ) and the doc thinks perhaps the nerve pain will go away and you will have increased proprioception (the sense that tells us where are body parts, i.e. arms and legs, feet, etc. in relation to the ground and other body parts). Still I think that's a HUGE stretch, even off-label.
8496079 tn?1398412516 Has the drug Gabapentin (generic for Neurontin) worked for Fibromyaglia pain within a few days of taking this medication for the horrible pain from the Fibro? I was put on Gabapentin (generic for Neurontin) yesterday by my doctor for my Fibromyalgia Condition in addition to the Norco 7.5/325 I can take up to 4 pills day as needed for the massive pain I'm in.
Avatar f tn Gabapentin is a good drug for some things, and not for others. General side affects are things like headaches, stomach pain, dizziness, dry mouth, sleepiness---the normal things that can happen when you go on any drug. Most of the time, gabapentin doesn't have extreme ill affects on anyone unless you skip a dose. I do know of people who say the drug can be addicted in high doses. Considering that you're just starting the medication, I wouldn't guess you'll be on a high dose.
Avatar f tn Thank you for posting this. I used Gabapentin briefly for nerve pain caused by my crippled back. It definitely made me feel 'high'. It also made me very 'shaky' and irritable. I quit taking it after about a week. Anyone who uses this drug to stave off wds needs to be very careful. Congrats on your time off of the vics, and good luck to you on your journey off the Gabapentin.
Avatar n tn In the past few months I have been having a burning sensation all over my body. It really bothers me at night & keeps me from sleeping. I notice it in the day when I am not very busy. It's a sensation hard to explain.
1474625 tn?1371097079 The Gabapentin did NOTHING! Not for the pain, not for the withdrawl. They titrated my dose to the maximum you can take a day. Still did absolutely NOTHING. I may as well have been taking sugar cubes. LOL, the sugar probably would have had more of an effect then the gabapentin. The inventor of gabapentin even confessed that he lied about his studies and Gaba is not good for use in pain control. Read up on it.
1218873 tn?1300091216 i was prescribed pregabapentin and at only 50mg twice daily i become so drowsy i was unable to function- so gp weaned me back to 25mgs a day and asked pain clinic to review-- they then changed it to duloxetine which again at only 60mg, i am constantly sleeping and fall asleep anytime of day- he has now added in gabapentin 100mg, with the duloxetine and to increase to three times a day-- from what everybody says, this is about the same as the pregabapentin but with the duloxetine added.

Avatar m tn A couple days ago I increased my Carbamazapine as I was getting tired of waiting for Gabapentin to have a noticable effect on the pain. My neurologist is hesitant to prescribe Tileptal (Oxcarbazapine).
2034625 tn?1392643292 A few weeks ago at 11 am I was having some TN pain, and discovered I had not taken my 8 am meds, which includes 300mg Gabapentin. I am convinced Gabapentin works for me, and I am at the correct dosage...for now. If your Doc had ever experienced TN he would not postpone a prescription to treat it, guaranteed!
Avatar f tn I started taking gabapentin the first week in September (2011). The Rx read to take 400mg at bedtime for a week, then twice a day for a week and three times a day thereafter. The first 400mg knocked me out as I sat in a chair. I awoke at 3am wondering what had happened and where I was. I barely managed to stagger safely to bed through the dizzy, stomach churning haze. I don't like to be hit hard and fast by drugs but convinced myself to try this a few more nights.
1039200 tn?1314912008 I suffer from bi-polar disorder herniated disks and i take gabapentin, morphine for that and triliptal for bi-polar, which they dont seem to be working as well as they used to anymore so ive asked my pharmacist what she recommends and she recommended lyrica. As you know pharmacists know way more about drugs than doctors, but I am super excited to get started on my Lyrica tomorrow!
Avatar f tn My 10 year old son was perscribed gabapentin/neurontin (in combination with a few other drugs) for his nerve pain. It definitely helped but the side affects are a huge trade-off. He gained a considerable amount of weight too but I attruibuted that mostly to the fact that all he did was eat, sleep & be foggy - and wasn't able to be his normal active self. He's since been off the meds and the weight has come off too as he's now able to resume most his normal activities.
