gabapentin depression

Has anyone ever been put on gabapentin for severe anxiety/panic disorder? My doctor just prescribed it for me to help ween me off xanax that I've been on for 7 years. Was wondering if this has ever helped anyone?

There are many stories out there where people abruptly quit and had a withdrawal syndrome from stopping the GABApentin. For me, that risk from taking it for a week vs the anxiety and depression from withdrawals was worth it. For some, it seems to have an amazing ability to minimize withdrawal syndromes. It did just that for me.

Due to brain damage from surgery I have temporal lob seizures I was put on gabapentin and depression occurred. I am looking for something that would control the seizures without depression. Help with any idea! Thanks Would Dilatin help with this type of seizure?

It has now been 45 hours since my last dose of gabapentin and the withdrawals are horrible. I had to remind myself what the withdrawal symptoms of gabapentin were so I didn't think I was losing my mind. I really hope these symptoms go away soon, they are terrible. Anyone else have experience with getting off gabapentin and how long their withdrawals lasted is appreciated. I did not quit cold turkey but did have a short taper. I had to get the poison out of my body.

Drug interecation. dog is new to gabapentin, ear flap is all crusty itchy. Has been on and is currently taking, methocarbamol, tramadol, carporfen.

Hi. I haven been taking 300 mg Gabapentin once per day for fibromyalgia since Nov 20th 2017. My doctor just upped my dose last week to 300 mg gabapentin twice per day. I have suddenly been feeling very suicidal and depressed. I know it's this medicine. Can I just stop taking it or do i need to taper off. If so, how? I cant go see my primary doctor for a week and a half because they are so booked up. But I don't want to take this any more.

I think it may be the medication I am on, Gabapentin, I am having other weird side effects too. Like it makes me feel like a drunk person for half the day. I am going to call my doctor on monday about it.

I am on Gabapentin and Buspar for Social Anxiety. I just started taking them 9/10/2010, Friday. My question is when I first take them I get strong suicidal thoughts for about 30 minutes. I then feel the medication kick in and I am fine. Is this common with these medications? Will it go away with time? Thank you in advance!!

I also take seroquel, lamictal, lexapro, st johns wart, l tyrosine all for depression and bipolar. Will I have serious withdrawals if I quit now? Will all my depression meds help soften the blow mentally? Anyone been ok when xeroxing off tramadol??

I was on Zoloft for 15 years and I stopped for two years in the past year I've been taking buspirone 10 mg and gabapentin 300 mg twice a day it wasn't working very well so I got on trintellix 10 mg for 3 weeks causes serious anxiety,OCD and lethargy and depression. I want to get back on the Zoloft I'm still taking the buspirone in the Gabapentin but it's been 3 days since I've taken the trintellix what do I do? Taper ? Switch?

One is that is can increase or decrease the effects of the drugs. The other is that alcohol is a depressant and can increase depression.

I take 100 mg zoloft 100mg gabapentin and .05 mg klonopin and I have tried many other meds for my depression and anxiety. but they don't help and i am sick of trying new ones. i have lost all hope that anything can help me. so how bad is it to just stop taking them?

Hi! Everyone I really need your help I'm so afraid of what lies ahead of me. I have a slipped disc in my neck and I'm waiting for surgery. I have been taking codeine for about six months now, at first it was Tylenol 3 with codeine 60mg every 4 hours and now for the last three months I've been on 600mg a day 300 in the morning then three hundred at night. Please give me advice on how to stop I'd rather live in pain than be on this pill.

Has the drug Gabapentin (generic for Neurontin) worked for Fibromyaglia pain within a few days of taking this medication for the horrible pain from the Fibro? I was put on Gabapentin (generic for Neurontin) yesterday by my doctor for my Fibromyalgia Condition in addition to the Norco 7.5/325 I can take up to 4 pills day as needed for the massive pain I'm in.

I've been doing great lately until abouta week ago when I woke up one morning ( still feeling fine ) and had 4 cups of coffee throughout the morning. I ate and then decided to do a work out... During the workout I was feeling really weak so I stopped half way through and called it a day for that. I took a bath and my feelings of my body being weak just got worse.

t have any the next day, and sure enough, anxiety/depression was there again. The day after, I decided to try another gabapentin to see if it was just a coincidence or if it would really relieve my anxiety. It did! From then on, I took 1 a day for 4 days and had my appt with the psych. I told her and she said to keep taking it, as sometimes, gabapentin is prescribed as an 'offf-label' use for anxiety/depression. It was worth the money, but it was a squeeze.

My wife Doreen has been prescribed Gabapentin to control this bile duct pain. After reading the info. leaflet she is hesitant to take these capsules. Can anyone advise. thankyou.

I was having extreme anxiety and very bad withdrawals from quitting gabapentin cold turkey. I resumed taking gabapentin yesterday and now today find myself very depressed. I quit it cold turkey because I felt it was causing me depression and mood instability. It is messing with my moods terribly now resuming it. I am very down and feel so disconnected from myself. Do not want to live like this. I know I will never quit it cold turkey again but feel this is not the medicine for me still.

I have been getting injections for this when its unbearable, but im apprehensive about surgical treatment. I have been on (6 yrs) Gabapentin, now at 1200mg 4 times a day along with Oxycontin and breakthu oxycodone. I'm also taking Celebrex as needed Duloxetine 60 mg at night and Tizanidine 4mg twice a day, as needed, Xanax as needed. In the last month i started experiencing severe depression, insomnia, memory issues, mind fog and libido issues.

For a couple of months I have bad depression and anxiety. Last week I saw my psychiatric and she increased my gabapentin from 300 mg to 400 mg three times a day and my depression and anxiety attacks improved, was feeling like myself again. Well last night I was happy and energetic, playing with my children and dancing around. I sat at my computer and all the sudden felt very dizzy and light headed. Not the normal occasional light headed feeling, this was severe.

She referred me to a pain management doctor and physical therapist and also gave me a prescription for Gabapentin (100mg...take 100mg at night for 5 days, then 200mg a night for 5 days then 300mg a night). Has anyone taken it and found it helpful? Also what about the dose? So much that I am reading discusses much higher doses and talks about taking it 3 times a day. Any insight would be gratefully appreciated, thanks.

My doctor prescribed me Gabapentin, used to control nerve pain or shingles. All my liver funtions are way out of wack, I feel like I am plugged in to a electrical outlet, sort of tingling itching sensation anyone try this.

they prescribe stuff a lot more dangerous and a LOT less effective than gababpentin all day long (atypical antipsychotics for resistant depression, amphetamines for ADD, lamactil-which is sort of a next gen. gabapentin, but it has much more dangerous side effects [many question if it really works at all for off label psych stuff it's scripted for], and, well, that's about all. oh, i forgot ativan and xanax- 2 nasty benzos that will hook you so fast your head will spin).

Welcome to the forum....sorry to hear you are having anxiety issues... Having been on gabapentin myself....coming off of it for 2 yrs...and then taking it again.....this post caught my eye. While it's surely a possibility that the way you are feeling is due to your own body chemistry and it's own personal reaction to gabapentin....I've never heard of anything like what you are describing. Gabapentin is not an addictive drug....it doesn't cause drug seeking behavior.....
