neurontin

2033870 tn?1329481339 I just met with a new psychiatrist 2 days ago. I have rapid cycling bipolar as well as post traumatic stress disorder. He has me on Xanax for anxiety, Zoloft and Neurontin for mood stabilizer. Can anyone tell me what they think of Neurontin and if it words? I am very intrigued to know if I am on a good medicine or if this isn't good. I don't go back to him for 3 weeks.
2010625 tn?1329372056 Gabapentin is sometimes used off label for bipolar, but that is the only medication I am on for it right now. When this episode started I was on Lamictal and Trazodone. So what is the difference between the body aches with depression, and anxiety, and something like fibromyalgia? I have tried so many medications for bipolar, and anxiety, and I seem to be very sensitive to side effects. I wonder if there is a way to live med free......
915369 tn?1355314810 The site crazymeds the good the bad and the funny of neurological medications (google crazy meds) has a sheet that lists gabapentin as an add on for bipolar. It lists almost all, if not all, neurological medications. It is a private site so check your facts but I have found it accurate and honest about what it reports without the drug company biase tied in.
1460652 tn?1340248730 My psychiatrist wants me to take gabapentin. It seems like she is just guessing at this point. Any suggestions? I know we are not doctors but I figure someone may be going through something similar. Thank you.
1039200 tn?1314912008 Has anyone heard of Pregabalin (lyrica) for bipolar or anxiety? - my doctor wants me to try, but I have not heard about it before and would like to know if anyone here has tried it or knows anyone who has. Is it used as a mood stabiliser? - I can't find it on the web site ILADVOCATE recomended me a long time ago, does this mean it's not a mood stabiliser or just a new brand?
Avatar n tn Hi, It varies from person to person. Common medications for neuropathy include Gabapentin(as others mentioned--but know that the correct dose for you may be quite different than for someone else), Elavil(Amitryptiline) and Lyrica. There are others also used but these are the most common currently. Take care.
189269 tn?1189755825 My doctor prescribed me Gabapentin, used to control nerve pain or shingles. All my liver funtions are way out of wack, I feel like I am plugged in to a electrical outlet, sort of tingling itching sensation anyone try this.
Avatar f tn Hello! My name is Devon and I've been diagnosed with Bi polar 2, panic and anxiety disorder and ocd. I've been doing great lately until abouta week ago when I woke up one morning ( still feeling fine ) and had 4 cups of coffee throughout the morning. I ate and then decided to do a work out... During the workout I was feeling really weak so I stopped half way through and called it a day for that. I took a bath and my feelings of my body being weak just got worse.
Avatar m tn I was on Nuerontin & fight bipolar. I will say that it made me an emotional wreck when I tried to get off of it. Had to taper off. Took forever. It helped pain control, but I wouldn't take it again. Don't know about lyricia. Maybe side effects ?
Avatar f tn I also take seroquel, lamictal, lexapro, st johns wart, l tyrosine all for depression and bipolar. Will I have serious withdrawals if I quit now? Will all my depression meds help soften the blow mentally? Anyone been ok when xeroxing off tramadol??
142722 tn?1281533616 I am having mixed moods - I am manic on min and depressed the next. My bipolar has kicked in and I am going through one of my spells. I know what is happening but it is so hard to go through it. I am fine for months and then it hits me. I was up for two days -maybe sleep 3 hours each night. I am on Litmical(sp). He put me on Gabapentin and gave me lorazepam to calm me when I need it. I feel so hopeless right now.
Avatar f tn I was put on Gabapentin for fibromyalgia symptoms today. If anyone else has used it, how well did it work?
Avatar f tn What do mood stablizers do for people who arent bipolar...my dr is using it to get me off benzos and to help my anxiety, but just how do they help...
915369 tn?1355314810 I've been on lots of those types of medication and they didn't do anything for me.. I'm on lithium and gabapentin right now but I've read that lithium isn't that great at controlling deppresive episodes so often times people will have to take an antidepressant too. Before I was diagnosed with bipolar they kept putting me on antidepressants thinking I had depression or borderline personality and they kept driving me mad!
5101703 tn?1363720186 Gabapentin and Klonopin is an awfully weird combo for bipolar. Gabapentin doesn't have any strong evidence behind it as a mood stabilizer, unlike some other anti-epileptics. Klonopin is usually more for anxiety type symptoms, and I think it's usually as a PRN (as needed) drug. You really need to see a psychiatrist if you at all can, because most GPs only know the basics of treating psychiatric illnesses. Are there any free or sliding-scale mental health clinics near you?
1573548 tn?1330456863 Hello, I take gabapentin 3 times daily. Honestly I am not sure how much it helps me. At first I started out at 1 tab in AM and PM. Now I am up to 1 in AM 1 at noon and 2 at night. If I miss a dose at night I can really feel it. I do not sleep well, and I get nerve pain/jitters (I get the restless leg syndrome but it is in my buttocks too and I am up off and on all night) Anyhow, I do think it defintely helps me with sleeping...huge difference.
Avatar f tn i was diagnosed with bipolar 6 years ago after a head injury and was taking zyprexa. Soon after, I was hospitalized with pancreatitis. The doctors immediatly took me off the zyprexa. Since then I have quit all alcohol and never did take drugs. I am currently taking Lexapro, but i don't feel it is what i need. I am constantly tierd, gaining weight, have constant muscle pain, especially in my feet and legs. I still suffer from mood swings, the ups and downs.
8798274 tn?1399988458 Now I am sleeping 2-3 hours a night with the help of gabapentin, but I do not feel tired, I DO NOT GET SLEEPY. Please help, I have been in this situation for almost a year. Can the damage done by the drug be permanent? Should I see a neurologist?
Avatar f tn I am on Gabapentin as a mood stablizer and have been for approx 3 months. My doctors and I chose this medication because of the benefits of pain control for my FMS as well as BPD. I also was on Lexapro for the last 4 weeks and was taken off this med yesterday due to side effects and was started on Lamictal. My question is this......these are both mood stablizers, correct?
Avatar f tn I take 100 mg zoloft 100mg gabapentin and .05 mg klonopin and I have tried many other meds for my depression and anxiety. but they don't help and i am sick of trying new ones. i have lost all hope that anything can help me. so how bad is it to just stop taking them?
Avatar f tn I stopped Risperdal since I'm now on another medication that is a mood stabilizer for me. I tapered off from 6mg to 3mg then 3mg every other day then stopped completely. Mood is stable, no symptoms of mental illness. Stopped Risperdal mid April. I started a period 2 weeks ago after having years of no periods or my one-day one-wipe periods (bleeding lasting only one wipe of the toilet paper) every few months. Had constant ovarian cysts.
733362 tn?1489794936 Went to a GP Doc and he prescribed Gabapentin. He wants me to take 300mg 3x a day but it has side effects too, mostly bothers my stomach and I don't like the way I feel on it the next day. Hard to explain exactly how it makes me feel. Since I had 90 of them and don't have prescription coverage I started breaking the capsules apart and putting 1/2 in capsules the same size from the health food store we got for taking Bulk Tumeric (herb for pain).
4534339 tn?1356040907 Its used to treat bipolar. Does anyone have a young child with bipolar that can offer me advise and does anyone know how long it takes for this medicine to get into your system? Any advise would be greatly appreciated! I'm tired of feeling like a failure because there isn't anything I Can do to help her at this point. Thanks in advance.
1772374 tn?1326246237 Witnessed everything after my brother got a Traumatic Brain Injury and started expressing SYMPTOMS of paranoid schizophrenia, bipolar, and agression/violence. He is now stable with Abilify, an anti-depressant (SSRI). If anybody also has support or knows of medications that help calm the Central Nervous System down help with emotional trauma i would be very greatful for any knowledge. Thanks, Jordan.
Avatar f tn But it was also marketed (illegally, according to the FDA) as a mood stabilizer, even though there are no good studies showing it is effective treatment for bipolar disorder. The company that makes the drug was hit with t large fine about ten years ago for taking docs to the Caribbean and giving them lectures and marketing pitches... the NY Times had some big article on it . I have always thought of gabapentin as a great drug... looking for something to treat.
1340994 tn?1374193977 With kidney problems, fatty liver, diabetes, and bipolar disease, what can my brother-in-law take for severe nerve pain in his legs? His PCP believes it's sciatica from his spine problems, although I'm sure the diabetes is also a likely culprit. Is there any medication he can take for the severe pain he's in?
647754 tn?1270036911 5mg 3x daily, Lunesta 3mg @bedtime, Depakote 500mg x 2@ bedtime, Gabapentin 100mg x 2 capsules 3 x daily, Lexapro 20mg x 2 @bedtime, and Budeprion 150mg 1 tab every morning and other meds for Diabetes. I went to my Psychiatrist yesterday and because I stay depressed all the time she mentioned taking me off the Lexapro but did not mention putting me back on another anti-depressant.
