That's a few too many things going on in my cerebellum! LOL I'm not sure what is going to happen at my appointment tomorrow. It is a follow up for the vertigo/steroids. I'm hoping that the vertigo will "earn" me another MRI to check for any new lesions.
Avatar f tn I take gabapentin.. I had uped the dosage to 2400mg a day... and found my Vertigo started up daily and I had to lower my dose to 1800mg..which so far has helped abit with the Vertigo but I seem to have pain in the evening...deep muscle pain in my thigh area. I will be seeing my neuro in two weeks for a follow up and will tell him that I can't seem to take to high of a dose of gabapentin as it starts my Vertigo which is horrible.
293157 tn?1285873439 After reading your first post here and Steph's response, I decided I'd watch to see if I felt any different an hour or so after my first capsule of the day. Nope; just a bit sleepy. Balance was pretty much the same, and still is now, after about 5 or 6 hours. I now take 400mg 3x/day, though I often forget the second dose and wind up taking two at bedtime. I did find that it made me quite sleepy back when I was beginning the ramp-up to my previous dosage of 900mg/day.
Avatar f tn The only possible scenario that I can think of to use gabapentin for balance is that it is given for neuropathy (nerve pain ) and the doc thinks perhaps the nerve pain will go away and you will have increased proprioception (the sense that tells us where are body parts, i.e. arms and legs, feet, etc. in relation to the ground and other body parts). Still I think that's a HUGE stretch, even off-label.
2150430 tn?1336460759 In 2011 May I noticed my left hand fingers and shoulder going numb, burning, and tingling very badly. Undergone for NCV test and the results are EARLY BILATERAL CTC, Vutamin B12 is less (<220), doctor advised to take tablets (Neurogardian, Arbital H{for blood pressure} -). I used these for 2 months and it give me some relief.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with damage in my inner ear two years ago from a virus. The ENT found the damage with a vemp and ecog test. Brain MRI was normal. Originally my symptoms were vertigo all day long everyday with tinitus and ear pressure. About a year later the symptoms calmed a some but I would still get bouts of vertigo. The ecog and vemp test were redone and came back normal. I'm not sure why I still get some vertigo with normal test results but I do.
293157 tn?1285873439 but I started to feel so tired, and dizzy, not vertigo, just lightheaded and had to sleep. I also got the runs... night and through the day. I thought to myself what if this is a side effect. So I looked at the bottle and it says take up to 3 times a day... I realized I was taking them at the same time and not separatly... Like I take my vitamins.. so.. I think that might explain things. boy, I've never been so slow with stuff like this before...maybe I'm just on too many meds?
Avatar f tn Sounds like my "post-stroke" symptoms minus the extreme vertigo. I was told it's my body trying to recover and it's "not life threatening and nothing to worry about." I'm on Gabapentin which is SUPPOSED to help. Ask your neurologist about it. Good luck!
739070 tn?1338603402 I was wondering if others who have had vertigo and dizziness after the vertigo attack could share their experiences and insight. Were you instructed when you could resume driving? Were your vertigo attacks clear-cut with a definitive beginning and end? I do not want to endanger others or myself by driving when I shouldn't but I need some guidance. Thanks!
678635 tn?1226654874 I have had just a couple bouts of dizzyness and vertigo especially upon looking up and reaching up that I have noticed this past week. I have also noticed my headaches that I do get are more like in the back of my head/neck and radiate to my temples if this helps. They tend to feel more like a stiff neck than a headache, they don't feel like other banging, throbbing migraines that I have had in the past.
335728 tn?1331414412 m confidant that my fatigue, dizziness and occasional vertigo are symptoms of the disease, since they started before I was on any med and they've been a constant, regardless of whatever dose I've been on. Neuroas like gabapentin because of its generally low side effect profile. Your reaction may subside as your body adjusts; and you may need to approach it more gradually as Mike suggests.
Avatar m tn I am now taking hydrochlorothiazide (both for moderate hight blood pressure and to lower my water levels for the inner ear), and gabapentin for a neck spine condition (unrelated to the vertigo). My PCM states I am "suspect" for Minear's Syndrome but has not made a clinical diagnosis as of yet. Bottom line is I am trying to find a way back to normal. My work requires me to get up into high places (aircraft mechanic) and this condition is keeping me from my work.
531519 tn?1307632685 I had an mri which showed a number of non specific lesions in the white matter i have loads of symptoms and currently on Gabapentin 900mg a day. The neuro seems to think that my problem is Rhumatoid but my problems dont fit with that .So can he say tha he thinks i dont have ms with a so called normal exam.
Avatar f tn The vertigo was really bad, I would walk and once I suddenly stopped the tip of my feet would come off the ground. The neurologist ordered various bloodwork and MRIs (cervical spine, orbital, head). Everything came back normal except my cervical neck doesn't have a curvature (I had physical therapy for this) and my vitamin D level is low (I take supplements daily). I no longer experience the itchiness and electric shock type sensations since I began taking vitamin B12 and magnesium.
198419 tn?1360242356 Got up 2 hours later and had a MAJOR attack of vertigo just as I entered my tiled bathroom. Nice long bruise along my right arm from the elbow almost to my wrist, skinned knees and sore muscles. But..I accomplished my goal. I felt as if an earthquake had hit (I do not live on the west coast;-) and my bathroom counter tops were spinning. My goal was not to hit my mouth on the counter. In that , I was successful.
620923 tn?1452915648 hello all, well I went to see the neourlogist yesterday and she got my report from Cleveland Clinic and the Dr did say I have Chiari Malformation, but wanted other treatment to see and ENT for vertigo. I am curanlty in theraphy for vertigo, it has helped with the balance problem and the dizzyness, but I am still having headaches. So the neourligst is put me on the drug called Neurontin 100 mg three times a day, to see if that helps for the headaches.
Avatar f tn I began taking Gabapentin for the electricity and muscle spasms in my legs. My initial dose was 100 mg at bedtime. Now, I am up to 100 mg 3 times daily. It has helped greatly, but recently I have been having some break-through spasms. I do not recall having had any "vibrations" from the medication itself.
1221035 tn?1301000508 I have urinary retention and I take Neurotin (gabapentin). I have never connected the two but Lulu advice is absolutely correct about telling your doctor about this new symptom.
Avatar f tn Also, I have blurred vision from time to time, vertigo, balance problems, and a head noise. My legs have had spasms (above my knee, below my hip), and my legs are becoming increasingly wobbly and weak. I have seen so many different neurologist, and did have two white leisons on my Mri, although my current neurologist states it is not in the area to cause MS. This is driving me nuts as people think I am a hypocondriac(sp). Can you help me??
Avatar f tn I have taken gabapentin and xanax for 10+ years without problems. Xanax is a shorter acting benzodiazapine then librium. You may find you need less librium with gabapentin.
