4186651 tn?1357830957 Has anyone else taken Gabapentin for all of these pains neuralgia migraines? I'm petrified to take this drug because of all the bad side affects! Did it help or harm anyone? Or should I wait to see the NS first before I take it?
Avatar n tn I have had migraines with aura since the time that I was 16... (now I'm 32) and I've always had an irregular heartbeat (skipping or missing a beat). I recently saw a program on Discovery Health linking irregular heartbeat and migraines. Does anyone know the likelihood of this?
734343 tn?1239601741 CBD, nether topical or oral help any head or neck pain or migraines, at least for me. Scared to take a tylenol w. this Gabapentin, so will stay up and take atylenolin a few hrs. The pills make me feel awful and not normal. Why do the shots work w/out the side effects? Discovered Coke, the soft drink, really helps the migraine, I believe due to the caffeine. Drinking a McD's frozen drink, like Mocha, almost kills me, but it stops a migraine immed.
Avatar m tn Still can't find anything . Put on Gabapentin and Meclizine . Sleeping better but still lightheaded . Had lumbar puncture , CT scans , MRI with contrast , all types of blood tests all results negative .
20903356 tn?1605045296 I have tremendous Migraines and they are poorly managed no matter what treatments me and my Neurologist have gone through. I also have a lesion that is not measured when noted on my MRI to the left side of my brain. I have been trying to reduce my Gabapentin. I take Trokendi 200mg a day and 800mg Gabapentin twice a day. I had reduced it down to once a day. This sensation is not new to me as I have experienced it on and off for a couple years now and did not know what to think about it.
Avatar f tn I have had migraines all my adult life and depression for 30 years. You are right, migraines are not half as bad as depression. I just take over the counter pain killers for my migraines now.
Avatar m tn I have a neurologist due to the lesions on my brain and spine and the cyst and they have tried several different things a lot of them worked. However Im pregnant with twins and extremely high risk so a lot of what would usually work for treatment is off limits.
Avatar f tn ve currently been diagnosed with Neuropathy. I take Lexapro for depression. They added Elavil and Gabapentin to try to alleviate my symptoms. Here goes the fun part, my symptoms. All opinions are welcome and MS does run in my family. I'm a 29 year old female. Right sided pain, numbness, tingling My limbs feel as though they weigh 10x's what they actually do. Strange sharp pains in my neck. Electrical jolt pains throughout my right side.
Avatar m tn ve been taking Gabapentin for several years for fibro and migraines. I started on the lowest dose (300 mg a day) and it helped with nerve pain, lessened the frequency/duration of migraines, and helped me sleep. However, about 2 years ago, I noticed facial swelling on my left cheek and a swollen gland under the jaw on that side. Neither hurts but no doc or specialist seems to know what is causing it!
Avatar m tn Do you use Gabapentin for migraines? There are lymph nodes behind the ears so finding one that is hard (not soft and spongy) needs to be checked by a M.D. as soon as possible.
Avatar n tn I was on Celexa to prevent my migraines and it worked. Rarely have one anymore. No longer on it or any of these. I was able to use Zomig with these, but only used rarely.
Avatar f tn After the couple days of burning pain, heaviness and pins and needles I now have stiffness and pain in both knees and ankles/ feet and widespread muscle pain, and fatigue. I have also noticed that after sitting for awhile that I am a little off balance standing up. I am waiting for a rheumatologist referral.
Avatar m tn I suffer from chronic migraines and I have learned to deal with them but throughout the last 4 years I have suffered from random very sharp and painful pains in my head. They affect my balance, vision and on occasion my speech. I have noticed that the position of my head and neck may be connected to the onset of these pains. Can someone please give me some suggestions as to whats going on????
Avatar f tn I have been taking Gabapentin 100 mg for a couple of days and have had severe migraine slash sinus headache ever since. What does be from the medicine?

I have also noticed that after sitting for awhile that I am a little off balance standing up. I am waiting for a rheumatologist referral. Is it possible for it to progress this fast (within 3 months)? And does anyone else get the widespread muscle and joint pain?
1476727 tn?1287216539 I have a great deal of pain in my spine due to discitis, and swelling at the top of the spine also, with a huge amount of pain up my neck into my head and shoulders. Every now and again I get spinal migraines which cripple me for a couple of days. I manage a children's centre, which is hard work, but I love it. Every day I am in a lot of pain, and many days I am feeling clammy and weak and I keep pushing the barrier.
Avatar n tn I found that Neurontin increased the number of migraines I had and the severity of them, and while I was on Neurontin I had migraines preceded by visual field disturbances--patterns of flickering lights all over the filed of vision of my right eye--that I had never had before the Neurontin and have not had since. My overall experience of Neurontin was not good--it screwed up my calcium/magnesium levels and threw my thyroid and adrenal systems way out of whack.
Avatar f tn I am allergic to triptans, and have tried everything from Topamax (made me nauseous) to Fiorecet to Gabapentin and Tramadol (current as needed treatment).
337492 tn?1212458836 I need some feedback as to rather or not the neurontin is causing me migraines. Oh, and as far as asking my doctor, well she is a flake and only deals with head meds not migraines, so I am at your mercy. Thanks!
Avatar f tn I do get the bolts of neuropathic pain that you describe Karen and the Gabapentin does help with that and I think the Gabapentin helps with my migraines as well, last time I went back on it and it stopped my constant eye twitching. I think my TM is stable at the moment, when I had an attack last year it lasted for ages and was constant with weakness etc.
678635 tn?1226654874 s due to circulations problems somewhere. He icreased my Gabapentin hoping to decrease my Migraines that I have no headaches or with? He also said keep taking Aspirin.
Avatar f tn as far as I know, there is no generic version of Lyrica at this time... and Lyrica and Gabapentin are two completely different medications... if your doctor or pharmacist told you otherwise, they are incorrect. Gabapentin is generic for Neurontin, originally developed as an anti-epileptic, whereas Lyrica was developed specifically for treatment of neuropathic pain. They both work on the body's GABA receptors, but the mechanism of action is slightly different with each.
Avatar f tn Could gabapentin change up the sensation like this? Or can I figure that the gabapentin has done nothing, and my body is just switching it up? The gabapentin couldn't CAUSE the nerve pain, could it? I am totally thrilled to've gotten rid of the freaky patches. However, it'd be nice to see the pain go too now! My doctor increased my dose to 600 mg a day now, and so, I guess what I'm wondering is, does this dose sound large enough to be effective?
Avatar n tn t doing anything for me and so I began to taper off gabapentin and experienced a god awful withdrawal, my Doctor had no advise as to how to properly taper and so I did on line research and found your post and a couple of other posts suggesting that I might have a magnesium defieciency and decided to check out some of the magnesium supplements available one of them was (ionic-fizz Magnesium plus) I was stuck at 1200 mg. gabapentin and couldn't seem to taper down any farther.
639773 tn?1401021974 I am a 53 year women who devoloped migraines 2 years ago. Two of the episodes involved severe pain in the back of my head and stabbing and burning pain in my right ear and throat which seemed to occur after turning my head to the right. The pain was so bad I could not move I just had to lie still. I'm on triptans and I had to take two of them and 1200mg of gabapentin which revieved the headache after several hours. I take the gabapentin for neuropathy. I thought it might help and it did.
Avatar f tn Since upping my dose of Gabapentin to 1600mg daily for Neuropathy and Migraines I am retaining fluid and I have to push to pee. I am drinking lots and lots of water to counteract the swelling but wonder what the having to push to pee means.
Avatar f tn Also, my symtoms don't exactly match the standard either, but after going to a Headache clinic I was confirmed as having migraines-the pain is on either the left or right front of my forehead never goes beyond the ears and can be a real pain unless I catch them at the beginning, if wake up with "full blown" it becomes a race btw the Maxalt and the migraine, I have had anywhere from 15-18 per month, also have to use strong coffee and ice pack or it's just a waste of the Maxalt a
