neurontin

Avatar m tn i had a ex that took gabapentin...but he never had trouble sleeping.....have you tried over the counter sleeping aids? melatonin? do you take the gabapentin right before bed? If so, try taking it quite a bit earlier. Sorry i wasnt much help. I dont know enough about the drug.
Avatar f tn I began taking Gabapentin for the electricity and muscle spasms in my legs. My initial dose was 100 mg at bedtime. Now, I am up to 100 mg 3 times daily. It has helped greatly, but recently I have been having some break-through spasms. I do not recall having had any "vibrations" from the medication itself.
Avatar m tn 00 pm after taking (10 mg melatonin), (50 mg Trazodone), (100 mg Gabapentin). That has worked for 2 years giving me 7-8 hours uninterupted sleep. However, for the last couple of months I find myself waking up around 4:30 pm and can’t go back to sleep unless I take an additional Trazadone and Gabapentin. Do you see any harm in that…….. or should I consider another sleep prescription? Thank you for your help.
Avatar f tn Not sure you're right about taking two or more of these can cause it. Two of the drugs affect serotonin, but only trazadone does this primarily. However, any of these drugs by themselves (not including melatonin, which is not a drug and is one of the safest supplements ever studied) could cause all of your side effects and the combination wouldn't be appealing to me.
15227985 tn?1439629482 Because I am a chronic pain patient and also a recovering addict...I would like to clarify a few of the differences between Lyrica/pregabalin and Neurontin/gabapentin. They are "similar".....but also have some major differences. They are both medications that need to be titrated UP when you first go on them.... meaning to gradually increase your dose. Likewise, when you go off of either of them, you must wean yourself DOWN.
Avatar m tn s i had an excuse to relapse every week. i would use 4 days and then wd on gabapentin for 3. eventually i got addicted to the neurontin too. i have recently stopped it all and gotten aftercare and that is the most helpful thing. today i am 13days piate free and 9 days gabapentin free. i am slowly getting my energy back and can sleep through the night in 1or2 hour incraments with the help of melatonin.
Avatar m tn Now, despite being in a constant state of panic I sparingly used the benzos (2-3 times a week at prescribed dose, usually only ever used Alprazolam). Finally I was started on Paroxetine, Gabapentin and Atenolol. My panic attack finally got less and less and finally stopped. Anxiety took a bit longer but now I am pretty much back to normal. Over the past 3 months or so I have tried taking Diazepam and Lorazepam for sleep issues but nothing happens. No effect whatsoever.
733362 tn?1489794936 I have been taking 3/4 of a 10mg Flexerit once a day before bed Pain Management Dr put me on 4-1/2 yrs ago while detoxing from Valium (horrible). I'm sure God brought me here getting off Valium. People here helped me so much like Cricket, AtThebeach and many others. I couldn't have done it without them and our Heavenly Father. Was on Gabapentin (for me is a horrible drug). He offered that again, maybe won't be as bad now, not withdrawing from Valium.
Avatar m tn I currently bang 12-15 4's per day( Dilauidid) and I am on Gabapentin 300mg 4 times per day. I pick up my script once a week and I always run out 2-3 days before hand. I find that Gabapentin helps with the restless lesgs, sleep ect. My question is, what can you tell me about Gabapentin? What is it used for? I heard that when it first came out it was used for Opiate withdrawl. Is this true? Thank you for your responses.
Avatar f tn Stay positive in your thinking, try and get out and move around as exercise also helps. Read the health pages and look at the amino acids......get going on some sort of vitamin/amino therapy. You can do this!!!!
Avatar n tn ve tried that successfully kept your old dog asleep at night? We have tried Melatonin, Benadryl, more recently gabapentin and also solliloquin (sp?), a chewable we bought at our vet's office for anxiety. She goes to bed then starts waking up around midnight then some nights a couple of times afterwards. I've tried letting her sleep on the bed (nightmare), in her crate, a combination. I don't want to put her down, there's nothing really wrong with her, she just has dementia.
Avatar f tn Does melatonin give you all three stages of REM or is it mostly to help with the most superficial phase, the dream phase? I understand that melatonin is a hormone secreted at night, and how it is not a drug, but I am just wondering if there is a link between dreams and melatonin.
Avatar f tn I have taken gabapentin and xanax for 10+ years without problems. Xanax is a shorter acting benzodiazapine then librium. You may find you need less librium with gabapentin.
1063764 tn?1272821064 It's hard to see exactly where they would interact, since they work on completely different physiological processes. Then again, everyone has their own peculiarities when it comes to this stuff. Melatonin is a hormone made naturally by the body to set the body clock and as an antioxidant. It doesn't affect serotonin in any direct way, but obviously if you're not sleeping well it won't help serotonin do its thing.
Avatar f tn Is melatonin and welbutrin incompatible? I read a post just now that gives me the impression that melatonin works against the AD? I'm going to google this...
Avatar f tn I use the Melatonin now and then..In my 7m from 3 meds I was on..I could not take the Melatonin with any Meds..No Scrip, OTC , Anything...I had to use it alone..I would have a adverse reaction if I did not..Now I sleep like a baby with out anything...
4149717 tn?1389503561 I was exposed to black mold one time and it kind of felt like that. Foggy brain and restless everything. I looked like I had MS, just no control of my body. I couldn't hold my hand steady at all. I was jumping out of my skin. I'd be laying down and it felt like my whole body would contract sometimes. Stretching and getting my heart rate up seemed to help, but time is what did it.
Avatar f tn I've been taking gabapentin off and on for RLS and from what I've experienced and been told by the doctors, it's non-addicting and I've experienced no withdrawal effects from it when not taking it. But I only take 300mg at a time. I've found that melatonin and valerian root (purchased otc at any store) work quite well to help me sleep, valerian root also good for anxiety. Hope that helps a bit.
Avatar f tn Have had rls once or twice a month for ten years. Then bam, it's full blown, unreal, can't do this, rls. I don't need to tell you all how it feels... But discribeing it to a small town doctor feels like I'm talking to a book. Short story, I moved to Idaho from California. Seeking the small town, farm, slow pace and American dream of life. Digging in deep with enjoying the mild winter and active from dawn to dusk.
Avatar f tn I have been having major trouble sleeping and read up a LITTLE on melatonin and read it was safe. Now going into my 11th week and I read more and find out maybe it isn't? Now I'm super scared, can anyone help?!
397118 tn?1219762250 I have found success with the sublingual form of Melatonin- It looks and tastes like a mint, and you just pop it in your mouth and suck on it 15 minutes prior to bedtime. Experiment with dosage, but start very small, at 1/2 mg. If that doesn't help you sleep, take another 1/2. If you have trouble staying alert and focused the next day, or if getting out of bed is difficult, lower your dose.
527657 tn?1214051850 I usually watch a little tv, read a book, then get sleepy, and fall asleep. It really helped me, and I take it every now and then. It is natural and not habit forming, which I really like.
4341997 tn?1514588688 I have taken Melatonin for about 20 years and I am now trying to taper off. It is a hormone and I don't think it is healthy for long term use. My standard does was 3 mg but one doctor had me on 20 mg for the antioxidant effect for a while. Funny at that dose it does not caused any sleepiness. I've taken the mcg's and up to that 20 mg and the small doses did help me sleep.
Avatar m tn I have been on a health kick, and with all the new vitamins and nutrients I am taking it all contains melatonin and I slept like a rock the last couple of nights I am OUT by 9 pm, and wake up at like 4 am raring to go lol I kinda hope that lets up so I can keep my eyes open we have a fire dept banquet to go to tomorrow night he will think I ate a bunch of sweets and my blood sugar shot through the roof if I am nodding or that I got my hands on meds which is virtually impossible in this state h
1032715 tn?1315984234 Melatonin is sold in the US over the counter. The melatonin I have seen is in a pill form and is very inexpensive. Can get it almost any where.
