ve currently been diagnosed with Neuropathy. I take Lexapro for depression. They added Elavil and Gabapentin to try to alleviate my symptoms. Here goes the fun part, my symptoms. All opinions are welcome and MS does run in my family.
I'm a 29 year old female.
Right sided pain, numbness, tingling
My limbs feel as though they weigh 10x's what they actually do.
Strange sharp pains in my neck.
Electrical jolt pains throughout my right side.
Happened to me with it, happens to many who take it. During the time I was on Lexapro I started taking 3 showers a day, and often had to get up and shower so I could go back to sleep. However, the prohibition of 5-HTP does apply when you take an SSRI -- you shouldn't take both. 5-HTP can also cause night sweats in some people, though probably fewer than Lexapro. I am wondering why you would take it after your doc correctly told you not to, but that's another issue.
Some studies show Effexor to be superior to Zoloft, Paxil, Prozac, Lexapro and Celexa and similar in efficacy to Elavil and Imipramine (older TCA drugs with more serious side effects). You could try maybe a combo of Effexor and Rexulti. The Rexulti acts as both an alpha and beta blocker as well as a seratonin dopamine modulator. The alpha and beta blockage keeps my heart rate in the 80's instead of 110-115 that it was.
The anxiety is constant and I control it with .5 mg. Alrpazolam (xanax)3x day. I have MS and Fybromyalgia. I take Lexapro 20mg morning, oxybuttnin for bladder at night, 5mg, Buspirone HCL 15mg twice a day for anxiety. Started Namenda 10 mg. 5 nights ago. Is the burning from the Fybro or MS? What do you suggest for the pain and anxiety?
Hello there. I would say continue following the instructions upon your prescription until you see your doctor again. If Prozac has noticably helped you that's good but i do know of other anti-depressants that are more focused on anxiety. If it comes down to it you may ask your doctor about Buspirone and/or Lexapro. I'm sensitive to anti-depressants Lexapro has seemed to help a bit and ive taken Buspirone (Buspar) for 4 days now noticing some improvement.
These brain zaps almsot drove me to suicide and I am hoping that getting off the Gabapentin and taking these withdrawal meds will help. Wish me luck and good luck to you as well. Much love, brother or sister. God bless you.
5 days off tramadol for me...and gabapentin (nuerontin) has been my saviour. I've wd before, on account of running my prescription out before refill is due several times, and it was hell. This time....completely different. I have been drinking tons of gatorade and smoothies, but the gabapentin is my best friend. I actually don't want to go back this time. Feel better than I have in a long time. Sounds like you have an arsenal to help you...you can do it, and feel good about doing it.....

Hi, I've been taking Zoloft 100mg for OCD for the last 4 weeks, my dr increased me to 150mg. Is it normal to have nervousness and increased sweating and headache when increasing dosage? I was feeling good on 100 mg and side effects were subsiding. How long will it take to adjust to 150? I also was just put on 10mg of lisiniprol for high blood pressure. And I'm taking gabapentin for insomnia from the Zoloft. I really appreciated any advice!
You have received some very good information already. Although anxiety attacks can go on like that for hours, and sometimes be anxiety without the fear component, I would be more inclined to look into the cardiophysiologic explanations, and treat the symptoms accordingly. If gabapentin works, it is a good medication for you..but pursuing the "why" is still a good course of action.
I also take welbutrin and lexapro for anxiety and depression. I take metoporol and isosorbide for chest pain associated with myocardial bridge. Wed. I started getting discomfort in my chest and it got worse, so i started to drive myself to the hospital because it was radiating to my jaw , i got about 5 min. out and the pain was getting intense. i felt lightheaded, short of breath and like i had something in my chest expanding.
Right now I am ON the gabapentin, but NOT the high doses HE wants me to be on! I am lightheaded, and uncoordinatedm and it IS the gabapentin. After researching all the side effects, I am going to try the Lyrica, so many people report agitation, anger, and similar reactions with the Cymbalta.
i was diagnosed with bipolar 6 years ago after a head injury and was taking zyprexa. Soon after, I was hospitalized with pancreatitis. The doctors immediatly took me off the zyprexa. Since then I have quit all alcohol and never did take drugs. I am currently taking Lexapro, but i don't feel it is what i need. I am constantly tierd, gaining weight, have constant muscle pain, especially in my feet and legs. I still suffer from mood swings, the ups and downs.
I began taking Gabapentin for the electricity and muscle spasms in my legs. My initial dose was 100 mg at bedtime. Now, I am up to 100 mg 3 times daily. It has helped greatly, but recently I have been having some break-through spasms.
I do not recall having had any "vibrations" from the medication itself.

Back in September, I felt like I was going crazy with burning & buzzing feelings and numbness in my feet. My scalp had an itch like feeling that was incredible, especially at night. I also felt like my whole body had a massive itch.
I had been on gabapentin in the past and my pain doctor gave me a script last March.
I have taken gabapentin and xanax for 10+ years without problems. Xanax is a shorter acting benzodiazapine then librium. You may find you need less librium with gabapentin.
Gabapentin (Neurontin) can cause fatigue, somnolence and dizziness. As Remar said Gabapentin is generally cleared by the renal system and rarely - if at all effects the liver.
Vicodin (Hydrocodone) an opiate - can also cause some "sluggish" and sleepy-like symptoms, especially as it's effects begin to wear off.
No disrespect, but this is one of the more absurd questions I have read. You are on an anti-depressant (lexapro) and consuming alcohol, a CNS depressant, AND taking another mind-numbing substance (Vicodin). You should be taking Lexapro ONLY to deal with depression or whatever reason you are taking it. Both other meds are contraindicated for Lexapro. Smarten up.
Equivalencies are generalizations, and you are an individual. Besides, Pristiq is a different class of drug than Lexapro. Lexapro is an ssri while Pristiq is an snri. And if it were me, which it isn't, I'd start at a low dosage and work my way up on any medication so I could see how bad the side effects were and the lowest dosage at which it works is.
Hi All, I am a 30 year old male suffering from obssessive thoughts, I had a stomach ulcers 6 years back and i use Rabeprazole 20 mg daily as a maintenance therapy, My GP suggested escitalopram (Lexapro 10mg) daily, after 2 weeks using the medicine i feel much better and my thoughts have come down, however 2 weeks into the medication i started having severe stomach burning sensation especially in the upper stomach behind the breast bone and the center of the rib cage, i recognise its the same fee
