2010625 tn?1329372056 Have any of you had heart palpitations without feeling anxious, or with no anxiety attack? I did an experiment and took an Ativan (I only take them as needed) to see if it would make them go away. That was an hour ago, and no change they are still there. I have been to the doctors a couple times recently, and they saw nothing abnormal. I guess anything is possible, but this just seems odd to me??? So what do you guys think?
Avatar m tn I am currently taking 850 mg of Gabapentin - 700 mg at bedtime and 150 mg at approximately 5:00 AM. I was originally prescribed it to help me with sleep during a taper off of Ativan, but it is causing me more harm than good at this point and I'm interested in at least reducing my amount before resuming an Ativan taper. I am currently taking .8 mg of Ativan, spread out in four doses across the day.
Avatar m tn I went to the emergency room during the first episode, and was treated with Ativan. I have a prescription for Ativan that I use at home during these episodes as well. I also take Aleve. I also become very confused during these episodes. I feel disoriented and out of place, and it takes me a moment to figure out where I'm at. I will also start to repeat my own phrases such as "I don't want any more pills" over and over again.
689267 tn?1235241749 I was able to begin resuming life normally after this and stopped taking the Gabapentin and Clonidine. I found myself smiling for the first time in ages and full of energy and feeling better than I had felt in a long long time. It’s been several years now and I’ve had to resume taking 2mgs of Xanax several nights a week but I won’t take it anymore than 3-4 times a week and no higher than 2mgs because I don’t ever want to get addicted again.
Avatar f tn hi. i believe cymbalta, gabapentin and alprazolam carry an alcohol use warning. i know for a fact that mixing booze with alprazolam is dangerous as they are both sedatig drugs which when combined are very potent. is he having problems as a result of this? usually there are negative consequences that need to be apparent before one will consider trying to quit. has he ever been to treatment or aa?
Avatar f tn i was impressed//haha i spent two weeks there and came out on ativan and cymbalta and risperdal.I have never been the same since..He really seemed like quack...
Avatar m tn t get seizures, only some do, and a lot of people go on and off drugs as if it were water. You could be one of those. But docs take an oath to first, do no harm, and this isn't the safest way to proceed. Tapering off as slowly as you need to is the way to go.
Avatar f tn Hi I understand that muscle relaxants help have you tried any. Some say Zanaflex may help.
Avatar f tn A few months back I was having problems walking with tremors etc. the doctors put me on baclofan and ativan. My spasms have almost dimished and I feel so much better. Even a lot the the classic POTS symptoms have been reduced. HR still high but toprol is helping. But why does the baclofe/ativan help so much? Any ideas? The only problem is that I have gained 10 lbs in 1 month on these new meds. I have weighed the same for 20 years so this is disheartening.
1460652 tn?1340248730 I do not recommend Gabapentin, i'm currently taking it and trying to get myself off of it and I've been experiencing the worst attacks. My heart rate gets up to 130 beats and i've been on it for a year. I came across an article explaining why it isn't a good drug to take as it has bad effects to your brain. getting off it has been causing me the worst panic attacks of my life.
1059594 tn?1261323966 Be very careful with Ativan and a lot of the pills you are taking. I know how painful this is and you will need something. If you are having anxiety or depression see a psychiatrist they too can prescribe Ativan for anxiety and it will help with that nerve pain. I took Lyrica, supposedly better than Neurontin, Lyrica affected my vision. So be careful, look at all the side affects because they are all full of them and are addictive. Best of luck. Be your own advocate.
Avatar f tn I completely understand the issue of dependance and how it differs from addiction. 2 doctors, a PA, and my Therapist all have no problems with me taking the Ativan. If I have to be on a low-ish dose of this forever that's ok.
Avatar f tn I began taking Gabapentin for the electricity and muscle spasms in my legs. My initial dose was 100 mg at bedtime. Now, I am up to 100 mg 3 times daily. It has helped greatly, but recently I have been having some break-through spasms. I do not recall having had any "vibrations" from the medication itself.
Avatar f tn I took my .5 mg ativan and one benadryl for stuffy nose. Now wide awake and have to be up to work in 2 hours. Has this ever happened to anyone?? I also take my 12.5 zoloft in morning will this make me more jittery??
1772374 tn?1326246237 m currently taking Gabapentin, Xanax when needed, Busiprone, and Lexapro. Lexapro is an SSRI for depressant and is known for helping anxiety. Gabapentin is a tranquilizer/mood-stabalizer. Busiprone is an anti-anxiety drug as well but non-benzo. It works on Serotonin, and a little bit on Dopamine. Right now after taking the gabapentin and 2mg xanax im feeling a lil at ease. Plus what helps me a tad is to take a walk and observe nature in a sort of meditative way. Meditation is good too.
Avatar f tn I have taken gabapentin and xanax for 10+ years without problems. Xanax is a shorter acting benzodiazapine then librium. You may find you need less librium with gabapentin.
1059594 tn?1261323966 So it's been a struggle with pain almost my entire life, I have muscle pains, HORRIBLE burning feet and strange feelings throughout my body. I've had so many tests done: Evoked Response, EMG/NCV, Cervical MRI, Brain MRI, Several Labs, and and EKG I've been referred to a Neurosurgeon and he said he's "proplexed", he's found Hypoesthesia in my feet and no reflexes in my hands. My feet constantly burn, 24/7, they burn worse at night.
17409734 tn?1456432991 Hi Ijaa, Welcome. Please excuse my tardy reply. You are very welcome here and your questions and concerns are important to us. I don't know if you have pain that will respond to Lyrica or Gabapentin. I didn't find Gabapentin very effective but agree to try Lyrica two years ago. It has helped reduce my pain - but not to the extent that I can be completely without opiates. You may want to consider it. What does your PMP propose for a NSAID?
6430402 tn?1381229275 Just Ativan, but I quit taking it because my panic attacks got worse..I take Valerian Root now. I want to have a stress test done, I kinda feel that would answer allot of questions as well but im worried about the cost... I'm no expert, but I would like to know why I cant walk 20' without a break not a breather, just a moment or two for my legs to catch up with me...
Avatar f tn I started 5 mg Celexa 5 days ago and the doctor gave me .5 mg Ativan for just in case. My question is how long until the Celexa starts working? If I use the Ativan too often will it effect how the Celexa works? How hard are these to come off of?
Avatar f tn You also take baclofen, right? Baclofen and gabapentin make a good combo against pain but sometimes you need to use lower doses of each when using them together. To me, gabapentin dosing is something like judging how much garlic the sauce needs. It depends a lot on what an individual diner likes and will tolerate. I started taking gabapentin the first week in September (2011). The Rx read to take 400mg at bedtime for a week, then twice a day for a week and three times a day thereafter.
5986700 tn?1380791380 Hi Spider :) Is your friend going to be coming off narcotics completely? Is her Dr. switching her to Gabapentin for pain or did he give it to her to help with the detox? If he's switching her to a maintenance dose of Gabapentin then he should design some sort of taper for her because she'll definitely be in w/d's. I think Lulu's idea above sounds sensible. Both drugs are addictive but one's a strong narcotic & the other a non-narcotic analgesic & anticonvulsant.
Avatar m tn Okay, well how are you directed to take them both? Is one as needed, both as needed, and if so, how do you know when to take which? Do you take one of them regularly? It's pretty uncommon to be prescribed two short-acting benzos concurrently. The equivalency between the two meds isn't an exact science, but per equivalency charts, approximately 0.5mg of Xanax equals 1mg of Ativan, so the Xanax is roughly twice as potent, mg to mg. Again, not an exact science.
Avatar f tn I had a migraine new to me about a month ago went to a neurologist he prescribed meythpredislone 21 pack and after that was completed he prescribed neurotin gabapentin which I am very afraid of taken but I started taken 1 before I go to bed. Why did the neurologist prescribed that if it was just for headaches?
Avatar m tn What symptoms of a hangover are you talking about? If you're speaking of anxiety, that's most likely not a hangover, but rather the typical after effects of alcohol consumption. Taking Ativan for hangover symptoms would technically considered abuse of your prescription, since that isn't what it's prescribed for, and all around a bad idea.
