3135572 tn?1342657739 Get OFF Gabapentin. In 2020, a thorough study came out implicating Gabapentin in Alzheimer's and other dementia. If you've taken it more than 3 years (I have!) you are at highest risk. Anything, apparently, which alters your brain chemistry to help you sleep, like Ambien, has been implicated in dementia...OTC sleep drugs too!
Avatar f tn Can I take 600-800 mpg of gabupentin with 10 mug ambien and 5htp. I have horrible time going to sleep and staying asleep.
Avatar f tn Well i'm 6 months clean today. Just wish I hadn't started the Gabapentin and ambien again. This is day 2 off the gabapentin, will take the amitriptyline tonight instead of the ambien should be off it in a few days also. I sooooooo need encouragement.
Avatar m tn Can gabapentin help with ambient withdrawal and if so how
Avatar m tn I posted this in the General health section but I'm going to re-post here as this seems a more appropriate forum for this: So about 6 months ago I was stricken by anxiety and severe panic attacks after my psych doc decided to cold turkey stop my Vyvanse because my resting heart rate was getting too high. I dealt with what felt like a constant panic attack 24 hours a day for nearly 2 months. To give you an idea how bad it was, I lost nearly 40 lbs in the short span of time.
Avatar f tn This is Tooter again. I started taking gabapentin again for about a month and this is my first day without it. I was taking 2 a day then upped it a little more each day. Yesterday I took 2 and was having hot and cold chills. I stopped because they made me depressed again. I can't tell that I hurt worse without them. This is the first day without them. How long will I go through W/D's? I need help NOW!!!
Avatar f tn Hi everyone. I'm 12 hours into day 2. I am taking gabapentin and feel pretty decent. The creepy crawls are the thing that just makes me crazy. I have the gabapentin that I take at bedtime 300 mg. When originally prescribed it was 3 times a day. I couldn't do that. It made me too sleepy and depressed. But for withdrawal it has been amazing. I am in a big truck so no hot baths or heating pads. The gabapentin has saved me. I even slept most of the day yesterday and about 5 hours last night.
Avatar f tn Hi y'all! I just got signed up here I'm not got a addiction yet lol that's why I am wanting to ask everyone if someone could help. I just started pain management yesterday for thoracic outlet syndrome I'm in physical therapy I go two times a week and am trying to do anything to keep me from surgery. But anyways the pain doc I went to was a big butthole to me since he has never heard of what I have he almost didn't help even tho my thoracic doc requested me to go to him.
Avatar m tn I’ve had sleep issues for many years and regularly use a cpap machine. I was on Ambien for 15 years and my physician weaned me off it, even though it worked well for me. My current routine has been, go to bed at 11:00 pm after taking (10 mg melatonin), (50 mg Trazodone), (100 mg Gabapentin). That has worked for 2 years giving me 7-8 hours uninterupted sleep.
Avatar n tn My doctor put me on Ambien and it really helps with the anxiety at bed time so i can at least sleep peacefully for 4 hours. I love the way it makes me feel all relaxed and nothing can go wrong, yea but it stopped working and i dont want to take more then 5mg. I also dont want to become dependent on it for sleep everynight, but i have become dependent on it. I have been taking somekind of benzo or sleep aid for the past 2 yrs.
Avatar f tn Gabapentin (Neurontin) can cause fatigue, somnolence and dizziness. As Remar said Gabapentin is generally cleared by the renal system and rarely - if at all effects the liver. Vicodin (Hydrocodone) an opiate - can also cause some "sluggish" and sleepy-like symptoms, especially as it's effects begin to wear off.
Avatar f tn ve also been prescribed gabapentin (nuerontin) and seroquel, while also taking suboxone, and I can honestly say the "nodding off" feeling that the altogether mixture of gabapentin and seroquel, and also probably suboxones, I think made me relapse the times I did...because like you and revmo37 discussed, the sedatives can give u even worse cravings....goodluck though, i've been battling this for years, and I am with you in this...it's not easy, not one bit..
Avatar n tn My doctors nurse was supposed to call in some Ambien to help me, she called in the wrong RX so my insurance kicked it back and wanted me to pay $180 for one month of Ambien CR, hopefully that'll get resolved Monday morning and Monday night I'll get a full nights sleep. I would not suggest anyone stop cold turkey. You do not know what hell is until you stop and start living a new type of hell...
Avatar f tn I am a 30 year old female. And I have miastiagravis, a nerve disease, fibermialgia, anxiety and depression and bad allergies. And I'm on suboxone, ambien, phyrostigme/mestinon,clonazepam. Lately I been getting heart palpitations, sleepiness and numbness in the hands, and also in the feet. Some lightheaded and also dizziness. I have 3 kids n really trying to see if anyone knows what it could be also my hand feels real hot the last couple days when it's cold?
Avatar m tn I currently bang 12-15 4's per day( Dilauidid) and I am on Gabapentin 300mg 4 times per day. I pick up my script once a week and I always run out 2-3 days before hand. I find that Gabapentin helps with the restless lesgs, sleep ect. My question is, what can you tell me about Gabapentin? What is it used for? I heard that when it first came out it was used for Opiate withdrawl. Is this true? Thank you for your responses.
Avatar n tn Ambien will help you get some sleep so yes I would say it is good. I worked for a Dr. before and the highest dose I saw given was a total of 12mg. So if the tab was 6mg then the patient could take 2. Taking 2 10mg of ambien seems a little high to me.Maybe someone else could answer better than me. I am one of those people that ambien doesn't work. I have tried Ambien cr, Lunesta (sp?) and regular Ambien and still couldn't get any sleep.
Avatar m tn I'm no doctor, so I definitely can't give you any medical information on Ambien, but I can relay my personal experience with it. I've been on Ambien (currently 10mg) for SEVERAL years now (5 or more). I have many chronic pain conditions, including fibroymalgia. One of the major symptoms of fibro is insomnia - which I definitely suffer from!
1568041 tn?1311615212 Does she think it's an issue? Personally,I think Ambien is a dangerous drug to be taking all the time. But,if she can't sleep and hasn't increased her dose for a year, then this is her lifestyle. I don't agree with it either but I know insomnia can be just horrible. There are other things she can take. If she wants to try it, suggest Melatonin and Valerian root. It's safe and it works for a lot of people. However, anyone on SSRI's should avoid Melatonin.
Avatar f tn Since October I have tried Lortab (3 strengths), gabapentin, Lyrica, Ultram, Relafen, Zonegran, and Trileptal. I am also on Cymbalta and Ambien. Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn I have been on vicodin, gavapentin, ambien and a muscle relaxer for the past 2 months due to a hurniated and broken disc that resulted in surgery. Now that my surgery is over I am trying to get off of these drugs. in doing so I am feeling lightheaded, shaky, having trouble resting,I am anxious, very aggitated and almost suicidal. I have no want to do anything, eat anything and am truely afraid.
Avatar f tn See if a doctor can write your friend a prescription for some Requip for restlessness, Neurontin (gabapentin) for anxiety and malaise, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose, for sleep and Klonopin which will be helpful for sleeplessness and anxiety. It will make his withdrawals easier. Valerian and Magnesium is sometimes helpful remedies over the counter. The residual symptoms of insomnia and depression can last another few months.
Avatar f tn Hello mom and welcome. Heroin and ambien are both central nervous system depressants. Taken together it is very dangerous as they both depress the respiratory and central nervous system. How old is your son? Does he live with you? How long has he been Abusing drugs for?
Avatar f tn At least 6-7 years at a pop and can stop it with very mild consequences. Some lack of sleep and maybe some headaches and neck/back pain but really nothing. Try OTC Advil pm or something maybe.
Avatar n tn She is sleep/wake having conversations she doesnt remember and and having conversations with us that did not happen, Sleep walking, cleaning.... Is this common and should Ambien be prescribed to teens with PTS?
Avatar f tn I began taking Gabapentin for the electricity and muscle spasms in my legs. My initial dose was 100 mg at bedtime. Now, I am up to 100 mg 3 times daily. It has helped greatly, but recently I have been having some break-through spasms. I do not recall having had any "vibrations" from the medication itself.
