Right now my stomack is swelling back up I do not know why .
Avatar f tn Hi Grandmama01. Make no mistake about it: Tramadol IS addicting. It may not have the same properties that Oxy and Vicadin have, but it's addicting nonetheless and prone to misuse. I also have severe carpel tunnel. I'm scheduled for surgery on both wrists on 1/21. In the meantime, my dr. has prescribed gabapentin for me. It's used as both an epileptic anti-seizure medication and nerve pain. I found that it really does help the pain and it's not a narcotic.
Avatar m tn I get it, you abused alcohol, which is bad enough, but you apparently abused it while taking a drug, the benzo, that is highly contraindicated if you consume more than a small amount of alcohol, and right now benzos are on the bad list because of the current campaign against opioid addiction -- docs are running a bit scared of aiding drug abuse. But again, do no harm, and while you abused the alcohol, the benzo was presumably prescribed because you're an anxiety sufferer. So fight back!
Avatar f tn There are some common medications that should not be mixed with alcohol. Tegretol, Lyrica and Gabapentin (most of the anti-seizure medications) should not be combined with alcohol. They potentate the effects of the alcohol. It is true that alcohol decreases respiratory drive and potentating this effect is not a "good thing," but narcotics (even in small doses) are more potent respiratory depressants. I guess the question more "Should I drink?
5657776 tn?1371799886 It is now almost 3am so I took 20 mg of cyclobenzaprine and the am dose of gabapentin. Is this safe? Like I said I am new to these meds and want to make sure I am not overdoing it.
18432675 tn?1464832893 Hil All I can say is that memory problems come from the brain, a part of the central nervous system, and so are not connected to peripheral issues. I've taken far more gabapentin than your dosage for many years without memory lapses, but what happens to me is not necessarily what happens to you. I suggest you wean yourself off this med and see whether the problem persists. If it doesn't, then gabapentin was likely the culprit.
Avatar n tn I was on gabapentin (neurontin) a couple of years ago for something not related to Hepatitis C and my liver enzymes went really high. After some reseach online I came across article saying gabapentin can increase these. Here is a link to one article I read and you can find others as well. Hope this helps http://www.livestrong.
Avatar n tn i'm stuggling myself with xanax pretty much the same drug, that seems like a very quick increase, i'm stuggling with .25 twice a day to 4 times and it ***** for me.i would definitely see the Dr. about a plan, but i would try to take as little as possible to keep your head.
Avatar f tn This is to help heal and for the ulcer to not recur. He should avoid NSAIDs, quit smoking, eliminate alcohol, avoid caffeinated beverages and reduce stress levels. These measures need to be practiced long term for results. Regards.
Avatar f tn I began taking Gabapentin for the electricity and muscle spasms in my legs. My initial dose was 100 mg at bedtime. Now, I am up to 100 mg 3 times daily. It has helped greatly, but recently I have been having some break-through spasms. I do not recall having had any "vibrations" from the medication itself.
4544656 tn?1371593548 s definitely gabapentin withdrawal. Gabapentin can cause withdrawals like benzos or alcohol. It doesnt happen to everyone, but it can happen. When I feel the withdrawals, if I take a dose of gaba, I'm fine 20 minutes later. I was hoping to hear how others deal with it. I'm down to 200 mgs! Slowly, but surely I'll get there.
Avatar f tn I have taken gabapentin and xanax for 10+ years without problems. Xanax is a shorter acting benzodiazapine then librium. You may find you need less librium with gabapentin.
Avatar m tn Hi, I was a member here years ago when I had a pain pill addiction. Haven't touched one in over 5 years thank God! However, I seem to have unknowingly gotten myself in a different jam so to speak. My husband passed away February 2015. I handled the anxiety for almost 2 years til January 2017 when I finally asked my nurse practitioner for help. I was very adamant on "nothing narcotic or controlled." She understood and we agreed on low dose of gabapentin.
Avatar m tn I am a healthy 24 yr old man and i have not even addicted towards any drugs or alcohol but sill my hands shakes a lot. no matter if its a new place or in my friends circle. Its quit embarcing. Can you please help me ???

Avatar m tn sciatic nerve damage. The Gabapentin works great, aside from the fact that I get brain fog and drowsiness. This drug separates me from pain, however, makes me a zombie! Does anyone know of a drug or supplement that I can take with the Gabapentin to combat the somnolence?
Avatar n tn These sharp little crystals are can irritate to the point of visible swelling, warmth and redness. Organ meats and alcohol are common culprits. Your doctor can confirm this with a blood test to check your uric acid levels. Colchicine is a very effective medication for gout and the pyruvic acid in organic cherry juice helps the body to break down uric acid. Hope this helps. Well wishes to you!
Avatar m tn I have Congenital nystagmus and tried gabapentin but it seemed to be making the Nystagmus worse. I started taking bupropion at the same itme, and suspect the bupropion may have interfered with the initial trial of gabapentin. I need the bupropion for the anxiety associated with Nystagmus, but I know it causes blurred vision and convergence problems. Should I even bother to try memantine? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I have tried Gabapentin, and I am currently taking Lyrica, which is a relative of Gabapentin. It does help a little, but not enough to enable me to sit down longer.
4705307 tn?1447970322 Hey Tim, Gabapentin is better than Hydro's and Trams for your liver. _______________________________________________________ Hepatotoxicity Limited data are available on the hepatotoxicity of gabapentin. In clinical trials in diabetic neuropathy and epilepsy, therapy with gabapentin was not associated with an increased frequency of serum aminotransferase elevations or liver toxicity.
Avatar f tn Hey nailbox.(That's quite original) Welcome to the forum! Can't say that your case is unique, as two thirds (2/3rds) of patients on gabapentin will experience adverse effects. There may be some changes in your symptoms, better or worse, more or less, if you wish to stick with it. You may also want to look into Picamilon , made by combining a GABA derivative and Niacin which is sold as an OTC dietary supplement in the U.S.A. Not sure where you live.
Avatar f tn m currently on the fentanyl patch, vicodin and gabapentin. I know that I can most likely get free or discounted medicine through the manufacturers assistance programs - my question is, will I even be able to get these prescriptions? I know in my state they have a program for free appts with specialists so hopefully I can still see a specialist but I'm worried that because this is through a free clinic that they'll just assume I'm a drug seeker.
Avatar f tn I have had conversations about Gabapentin (and my intolerance to it) and I have learned through my own trial and error that it does take time for your body to adjust. I also know (through googling many different medications) that each time you adjust the dosage, that your body can have side effects. The side effects should get better as your body adjusts, but if they don't, you should definitely talk to your doctor about it.
