1943759 tn?1324045251 My husband has severe pain in his lower back. He says it feels like a pintched nerve. This is the second time he gets it. He's been taking Advil for the pain and been putting ice hot but it doesnt help much. Is there something he can take for the pain? Its fraustrating to him because it affects his work (he's a driver).
Avatar f tn I see a pain management doctor and have spinal injections every 12 weeks. I was prescribed Vicoden 10/325 for pain as well as flexeril and gabapentin. Neither the flexeril or the gabapentin seem to help with muscle tightness, spasms, or nerve pain. I am seeing my doctor again in two days and I wondered if any one could tell me of medications that have worked for you. I have a high tollerence to medication, most do not make me sleepy at all.
9140881 tn?1403241119 back to flexeril has anyone else taken this for sciatica while pregnant? The pain unbearable and pain makes my sugar go up since I am a type 2 diabetic. Im worried it will cause problems. I have had 3 miscarriages this is my first normal pregnancy so im scared it will cause one.
Avatar m tn Flexeril is a muscle relaxant, not a medication for nerve pain.
Dog I take Cymbalta and Flexeril for that. After a slip on the ice this past winter I have developed sciatic nerve pain from my buttocks down to my ankle. It sometimes feel like a sharp stabbing pain that is not pleasant and is beginning to affect my job, which is physically demanding. Any suggestions on what medications can help decrease this pain. (I do the recommended stretches twice daily and that helps for short spans of time) Thank you!
5082295 tn?1371250911 oh wow that I didn't know! Im 28..does that matter..im hoping he didn't think this would effect me! Im on flexeril now & I don't get much relief, as you said I did in the beginning. The prednisone helped but way too many side effects I could not deal with, & the pain meds are really not helping unless I take it right b4 it gets bad, & normally I can tell if its just achy or the sciatic pain is beginning, but still that leaves me taking the pain meds more.
Avatar m tn I don't have this issue, but wondering if it's possible that this is coming from your sciatic nerve? I have had that in the past & it is AWFUL. I hope you are finding something to help with this. If you think that may be the cause, there are some great stretching exercises that can help as Alex suggested.
Avatar m tn you have a pinched nerve..tests show location..when the pain is too much or you loose muscle..go see the surgeon..
1581408 tn?1296506870 The pain itself alternates between the deep bone pain (where it feels like you have a severe bruise and someone is shoving their fist into it - hard) and a burning/cold pain that was most definitely nerve-related. The pain gets exponentially worse if I have to stand up for even a few minutes, so I spend nearly all my time sitting or laying down.
Avatar f tn Are you sure the flexeril dose is 100mg?That is high..flexeril comes in 10mg tabs and 100 mg is 10 tabs a day?Is this right?
Avatar n tn I have been on Rx Topamax and a Flexeril a muscle relaxer for years. Do you think it could possible be a pinched nerve in my neck ?
Avatar f tn If the flexeril doesn't help, ask for Soma. It COULD I fact be muscle spasms that are actually causing pressure ON the nerve(s). That's a problem that I had and only until they had me on a STRONG ENOUGH muscle relaxer it kept happening. They were happening at times every few minutes & I started to look like I had a shock collar on, lol (NOW anyway). Some docs don't like Soma, so if he balks at that idea, ask him if you can try 2 flexeril.
Avatar m tn I am. 62 y.o. Man. I went thru rehab for alcohol Nov/Dec 2011. I felt fine after. Since march 2012 I have experienced many symptoms including numbess, tingling, sleep change, pain throughout muscles and joints among others.I have had every blood test imaginable,, emg, MRI. Have seen pcp, , rheumatologist, neurologists. The most I have received is telling me I have some peripheral nerve damage.
Avatar m tn On oxy for pain and Doc want's to add Feleeril. Problem is there is debate if I have a type of epilepsy or other nerve disorder like MS. My big fear is epilepsy Oxy use to make me shake and bite my tongue but since i been on 200mg Lamictal it has stopped I read Flexeril may cause seizure but then I also read the opposite. Even if I am not epileptic I like to play it safe as my Doc is out, and the pharmacy worker never seems to know anything.
Avatar n tn Hi there. Herniated discs can cause moderate to severe pain due to nerve roots impingement by the disc matter exiting at that level. The therapeutic options for this are NSAIDs, epidural injections of steroids, physiotherapy and surgical decompression like discectomy and bone grafting. you need to consult a neurosurgeon for evaluation. You have been prescribed drugs like flexeril, muscle relaxant, gabapentin, anti convulsant used for neuropathic pain, opioids, etc.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I've tried both Soma and Flexeril (not at same time!) for muscle relaxers (I have fibromyalgia, lupus, severe arthritis). Really the only side effect I've experienced with the Flexeril is that it makes me VERY sleepy, but when I'm hurting and having trouble getting the rest that I need, that actually is a good thing!
Avatar f tn If the neck pain is due to spinal nerve compression, then all these measures will not help. However, if the pain is due to muscle pull or spasm or due to vertebral disease or osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis, then these measures may help. It would be best to consult a neurologist or an orthopedic specialist and if need be get a MRI done. Take care!
232328 tn?1207090071 Hi there. I was prescribed flexeril today for some back pain. Can anyone tell me exactly what it is? If it is addicting? Will it make me sleepy/hyper, etc?
Avatar f tn I've had bad lower back, tailbone, and pelvic pain. My doctor prescribed flexiril and pain meds. I take them as needed, I usually take half of a muscle relaxer though cause they make me so sleepy!
Avatar f tn My back is really bothering me!! Hurts so bad and can't relax for anything!! I'm 35 weeks and really want to! Has anyone taken a muscle relaxer or even a half of one?
Avatar f tn t blame you for not wanting to drop the gabapentin for the nerve pain. I take it for the same reason and could not see dropping the dose. Good luck with the changes!
Avatar n tn I have tried several muscle relaxers over the years for my shoulder pain and flexeril is the only one that works for me. It helps with the pain and also helps me to sleep. I am really sensitive to medication so I usually only take half of a 10 mg tablet at bedtime. Sometimes when I am in a a lot of pain during the day I'll take a quarter. It helps without making me too tired. Hope this helps some.
Avatar f tn re taking any of these meds, but they kind of work against one another. Gabapentin is kind of like setting up an artificial GABA system in your body for nerve pain, and is sometimes used in conjunction with an antidepressant for anxiety. Depakote is a major targeter of your actual GABA system. If you look at the side effect profile of flexeril, it can cause all of your symptoms. So can depakote.

Avatar f tn I have persistent, severe nerve pain. It's left-side burning, electric-like pain, mostly from shoulder down left arm, but can be on face, head, hip, leg. Also deep stabbing pain around left shoulder blade and under left ribs. Sometimes it's a 10+. Ranges from 4 to 10. Dx with RRMS in '97, very active 10+ years after, but on disability since 2008. Take Rebif, on brk from Tysabri.
Avatar n tn He knows nothing about Doctor Shopping, it was my idea for him to see a doctor somewhere to get help for his severe pain - he has degenerative arthritis in his neck with compressed and bulging disks so I thought I was helping by taking him to my local doctor (I didn't realize he wouldn't mention the Tramadol and I think his anger, etc.
Avatar n tn She prescribed me 10 flexeril pills and told me to come back in 3 weeks. I have never had pain like this, and the flexeril doesnt help the pain at all. I want to call her and ask her to suggest something else for the pain, but working in the medical field I know there are drug seekers. I dont want her to think I am just trying to get pain pills, i want her to take me seriously, but i also want this pain to go away. any suggestions? should I call her or wait it out?
