1943759 tn?1324045251 If it only lasts for a few days you can have him take Tramadol or Vicadin (but only for a few days). If the pain is there for long perioids of time then drugs that help neuropathies like neurontin or Lyrica may help. I don't usually recommend physical therapy but after the has gone down and if it is disk decompression there are some stretching exercises he can do daily that will help with the decompression. My brother in law has this and it has helped him a lot.
Avatar f tn Went to the urgent care and he advised to try to see if just Tylenol, rest, heating/icing would relieve any pain but gave me a prescription for flexeril, a muscle relaxer, and a pain medication. I am nervous to take either but nothing else has done much so far. I can barely walk upright. Has anyone ever taken muscle relaxers pregnant? I plan on calling my ob tomorrow when they open again but wanted advice.
Avatar f tn At 10 weeks what symptoms u having?
Avatar f tn I've had bad lower back, tailbone, and pelvic pain. My doctor prescribed flexiril and pain meds. I take them as needed, I usually take half of a muscle relaxer though cause they make me so sleepy!
232328 tn?1207090071 Hi there. I was prescribed flexeril today for some back pain. Can anyone tell me exactly what it is? If it is addicting? Will it make me sleepy/hyper, etc?
Avatar f tn My back is really bothering me!! Hurts so bad and can't relax for anything!! I'm 35 weeks and really want to! Has anyone taken a muscle relaxer or even a half of one?
Avatar f tn I have used flexeril for my back injuries before and the only side effect was rebound depression...but because of the mechanism that muscle relaxants use, that's a common side effect. however, it's something to be aware of; if, after your medicine begins to wear off, you feel unaccountably down...be aware that the flexeril may be causing it.
1478560 tn?1314628853 Even tried a chiropractor with no luck but more pain. I know for awhile between the fatigue and the back pain I was constantly sleeping on the floor with a heating pad. For some reason the hard floor felt much better then my bed. As for the tens unit. OMG never again... My hubby had back surgery and insisted I try it, it would help. lol WOW no way! I felt like I was being electrocuted by the darn thing.
Avatar n tn I have tried several muscle relaxers over the years for my shoulder pain and flexeril is the only one that works for me. It helps with the pain and also helps me to sleep. I am really sensitive to medication so I usually only take half of a 10 mg tablet at bedtime. Sometimes when I am in a a lot of pain during the day I'll take a quarter. It helps without making me too tired. Hope this helps some.
Avatar f tn I went to the doctor and she gave me Flexeril and Pain meds. And gave me some paper and to strength the back. I only it the the flexeril for couple days and starting swimming programs which help . But still having pain and the spasms now seem worse. I also feel pain down my legs. Getting out of bed to get ready for the day is very difficult. Went back and she give different Muscle relaxer (soma) which works but if I dont take them the back spasms are they. Should I have MRI.
Avatar n tn She prescribed me 10 flexeril pills and told me to come back in 3 weeks. I have never had pain like this, and the flexeril doesnt help the pain at all. I want to call her and ask her to suggest something else for the pain, but working in the medical field I know there are drug seekers. I dont want her to think I am just trying to get pain pills, i want her to take me seriously, but i also want this pain to go away. any suggestions? should I call her or wait it out?
Avatar m tn Hi. I am having pain in my lower right back. This has been going on now for almost 2 years. My symptoms change all the time whether it be sharp pains in my groin, my leg and my hip, and muscle spasms but the pain in my back is always there. The doctors say there is nothing they can do and nothing showed up in my MRI. I have been going to physio, massage and chiropractor for over a year now and nothing is working for me. PLEASE HELP!!! I would appreciate any comments that you have.
Avatar m tn The doctor did however prescribe me Tramadol, which i have been taking but i just dont feel like it works very well. it may take the pain away for a little over and hour but then im back just wanting to lay down and do nothing because im in so much pain. so what should i do? should i go back to the doctors and tell her? i need help, i can not live like this..
Avatar f tn You can ask your dr about some flexeril. Its a muscle relaxers and it will make your back feel so much better. My pain was so bad i didn't even want to move but with flexeril and my hubby giving me daily massages, i feel better.
Avatar f tn Its a muscle relaxer......my regular family DR. always prescribed those to me for my horrible back pain. they certainly are not addicting to me and they are non narcotic. one would seem to help with the RLS problem, I would think. I did notice they helped sleep somewhat. anything that helps get you over the hump, would be a big plus. but I never felt good teh next day on those things..... one can get them easily prescribed, or atleast thats what they always wanted to give me.
457721 tn?1256640798 Hello. I am a 23 year old with SEVERE, chronic back pain. About 5 years ago I was involved in a car accident that I never should have walked away from. As a result, I have a slipped disc in my lower back. On top of all this I have minor scoliosis. For about the past two months I have had the most horrible lower back pain that I have had since my car accident. I have been unable to bend over and have had to squat at the knees just to pick my daughter up.
Avatar m tn Wow, I'm out of action for at least 16 hours after just one Flexeril! And for the entire next day I'm a space cadet.
Avatar f tn I see a pain management doctor and have spinal injections every 12 weeks. I was prescribed Vicoden 10/325 for pain as well as flexeril and gabapentin. Neither the flexeril or the gabapentin seem to help with muscle tightness, spasms, or nerve pain. I am seeing my doctor again in two days and I wondered if any one could tell me of medications that have worked for you. I have a high tollerence to medication, most do not make me sleepy at all.
Avatar n tn He give me muscle relaxers and pain killers and told me if in two weeks it was not better to come back for more tests. It subsided for a couple of days and now is my arm is in severe pain. I have sharp pains in my neck that migrate or immediately radiate into my wrist. Almost feels as if my arm is broken. Also my right index finger has been numb from day one with no sign of recovery. I have absolutely no strength left in this arm. I can barely hold my arm up.
Avatar f tn Flexeril is not addictive if you use it only when needed I took it for years for a bad back but you dont get hi on it so for the most part if taken as directed your ok just stay away from soma that is a different story...................................Gnarly.....................................
Avatar f tn Anyways, it seems that my arm pain has lessened and is happening less frequently, as well as the upper back. I am taking Flexeril for it, which is a muscle relaxer. Anyways, my question is this: If the arm pain was actually related to some underlying heart issue, do you think taking Flexeril would make a difference in the arm pain? Meaning would the pill help the arm, even though it's refferred pain from the heart.
Avatar n tn He knows nothing about Doctor Shopping, it was my idea for him to see a doctor somewhere to get help for his severe pain - he has degenerative arthritis in his neck with compressed and bulging disks so I thought I was helping by taking him to my local doctor (I didn't realize he wouldn't mention the Tramadol and I think his anger, etc.
Avatar m tn I’ve been taking Flexeril long term as well for ddd in lower back as well as back pain from MVA. I’ve had similar problems that you described. I went to see my pcp and I also got blood work done. It appears my wbc was decreased. I researched the web and found that Flexeril and Benadryl, two meds I’ve been taking since I started working nights and my back pain became unbearable can cause low wbc.
Avatar f tn I have been prescribed Flexeril for over a year, as a muscle relaxant for long term back and neck pain... I was told it was a 'safe' drug, and not to worry about it - it was not addicting. Now, after taking it for this long, I have re-read the patient information packet, and see that it is only for short term use, and I cannot find information on how to titrate off. I get migraine headaches whenever I stop taking it for any length of time, as well as other symptoms...
Avatar n tn ve hard from my friend this is perfect for any serious back pain, especially for lower back.
Avatar f tn ve prescribed me flexeril 5mg but it only helped for 3 days and when I was done with the prescription it came back twice and bad and painful. Now I'm having lower stomach pains and a burning sensation in the middle of my lower back. Taking these pills they've prescribed me isn't working and the doctors don't know what's going on.
