Avatar m tn Hello! The symptoms of fibromyalgia are aggravated due to poor sleep, high stress, and poor nutrition .There is no single cure for fibromyalgia. Firstly I will advise you to take a good sleep. Take plenty of fruits and vegetables in your diet. Drink plenty of water every day. Avoid processed foods like white bread, junk food etc. and have whole grain foods. Exercise daily for 30-40 minutes. It will help in burning your calories and alleviating depressive symptoms if any.

Avatar n tn I have been having chest pain for quite some time now. For the past 2 weeks it comes & goes. It is worse sometimes (it varies from day to day) when I eat, when I exercise, when I get too stressed, when I get hot & when I lie down. It is like a sharp nagging pain in the middle of my rib cage sometimes lasting more than a few minutes. I have always also had problems with shortness of breath & dizziness. I am also tired all the time.
Avatar f tn A cervical spine problems causes symptoms from the level of the problem down. The symptoms don't travel up so if you have tingling in your face and on your head it is something else. A spine issue can cause headaches though as the muscles can spasm in the neck and cause a headache. You may want to get tested for Lyme disease. It can cause most of your symptoms.
Avatar f tn Today after seeing my neurosurgeon and him telling me he cannot do anything to fix me because nothing is showing up on my scans, I almost broke down and cried because no one seems to know what is wrong with me. I researched Fibromyalgia and discovered a lot of the symptoms I am having. I thought I was to young to have this, I am only 22. I am wondering more and more if this is what I have.
Avatar m tn Any physical or emotional trauma can cause a flare up of fibromyalgia symptoms. It is best to seek a second opinion and have a discussion on the possible alternatives, especially conservative treatments if possible. In fibromyalgia medicines should always be used along with exercise and behavior therapy. Consult an experienced doctor. I sincerely hope it helps. Best wishes and regards!
Avatar f tn I have fibromyalgia symptoms triggered by a mosquito borne illness. I use monolaurin (amazing!) to get rid of muscle pain, exercise regularly (walking, yoga, stretching) to get rid of joint pain and joint stiffness and quit refined sugar, gluten and dairy. I am now in remission. I still suffer from fatigue but nothing like it used to be! This seems to be the magic formula for me. Also, I take magnesium citrate at night for anxiety and sleep.
3202069 tn?1345408082 I have had fibromyalgia for about 8 yrs maybe longer. It is very hard to deal with. My legs bother me alot. I am on pain meds and eating certain foods make it worse. I go to an Integrative doctor Steve Windley. I would say that Diet and exercise help the most. Stretching is very important. My doctor told me that alot of Carbs cause the body to be inflamed. I also know that soda causes me to hurt all over. I get tightness in my legs and calves. I used to have alot of shoulder pain.
1550149 tn?1340004330 Causes of Secondary Fibromyalgia Secondary fibromyalgia has the characteristic symptoms of fibromyalgia but unlike primary fibromyalgia, a specific cause can be identified. Possible causes include the following: Physical injury. In one study, for example, secondary fibromyalgia developed in over 20% of patients who had neck injuries. The symptoms are identical to those of primary fibromyalgia but are harder to treat.
Avatar n tn Sorry to hear about your symptoms and arthritis. The diagnosis of fibromyalgia is clinical and based on diffuse muscluoskeletal pain, which is often worse at night. The diffuse tenderness is most prominent in the neck and shoulders, along the spine and in knees and upon deep palpation at what are known as trigger points. Your symptoms seem to be too widely spread and muscle twitching is evident which is really not a part of fibro.
Avatar n tn Hi Angela, As a fellow Fibromyalgiac, I have to say that some of what you listed as symptoms just baffled me. I've been living with it for almost 10 years now...and for the record, I can't stand it when someone says "you're fine" but insists on turning you into a walking pharmacy. But while they are not "Fibro" symptoms, it doesn't mean that everything is fine.
Avatar n tn Emotional and physical triggers can cause a flare in fibromyalgia symptoms. A flare is usually accompanied by constant pain and lethargy. You might find difficulty to sit, stand or lie for even some time. the triggers known are strong emotions like depression and anger or stress, too much exercise, beginning of an illness, cold, damp weather or extreme heat, any stress on body. That noisy neighbor could affect your health indirectly by causing anger or stress in you. Hope this helps. Take care.
Avatar n tn I know exercise is very important for people with fibromyalgia and I try to stay as active as I can but it is getting more and more difficult. They symptoms I have are heart palpatations, body aches and pains, irritable bowel, stomach upset, headaches and lately when I am finished walking and shower and then rest for a bit I can hardly walk as my feet, heels, and ankles hurt so badly it takes me 10 to 15 minutes to get going again.
Avatar f tn Appropriate levels of exercise are well proven to help alleviate FMS symptoms. The ischemia theory also explains why too much exercise is so hard on our bodies - muscles hurt more when they don't get enough oxygen during exertion. Possible causes of FMS-related ischemia could be allergic hypersensitivity, toxins, stress, inflammation (from other conditions), or the fact that FMS involves nervous-system dysregulation. What do you think? Does this sound like a viable theory?
Avatar f tn I have tender points ALL over my body. My Dr says it's not Fibromyalgia. The spots don't hurt unless they're pressed on, then they feel like bruises (but nothing is there) My tinder points don't match the Fibromyalgia points, and I have about10 times the number of spots that are on the picture. Also from knees down almost ALL of the muscles hurt to touch, not just spots) There's no rash or fever that I'm aware of. This has been going on for years. Any thoughts????
Avatar n tn I am only 25 and have all the symptoms of fibromyalgia, CFS and MCS. I am unable to get out of bed some days but because of my young age my doctor is not seeming to take me seriously. He tests my thyroid and iron levels and many other things, but has not sent me to a fibromyalgia specialists. Also I have not been able to get disability cheques, so I am on government assistance:(. Does anybody more experienced have any advice for me? This can be quite stressful.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am wondering if fibromyalgia can be missed for years before being diagnosed? When I was a kid up until now I have always had muscle pain. Charlie horses, cramps, tingling in my feet & swelling. No doctor ever said anything to my parents or me. Now I'm 34 haven't been able to work for the last 4 wks due to muscle pain, cramps so bad I'm unable to walk, confusion so bad it interfered with my work, my immune system is basically null & void.
Avatar n tn Since I've had Fibromyalgia, I have constant bursitis in my greater trocanter (hip bursa) as well as a constant inflammation of my SI joints. I receive shots in my hips every few months, sometimes monthly. I do the exercises given to me by my DO, however, I have only short term relief from the shots. I apply ice. I still have the bursitis and it won't go away. I never had any hip injuries prior or since to cause bursitis. Does anyone else have recurrent bursitis with their Fibromyalgia?
554442 tn?1221238825 Fibromyalgia (FMS or Fibro for short) is a chronic condition which causes widespread pain and fatigue as well as a variety of other symptoms. The name Fibromyalgia comes from "fibro" meaning fibrous tissues (such as tendons and ligaments), "my" meaning muscles, and "algia" meaning pain. Fibro does not cause joint pain or swelling. The pain from Fibromyalgia is produced in the soft tissues of the body, including the muscles and tendons. http://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar f tn well just got back from lawyer apt and it didn't go well. It seemed as if he didn't believe in fibromyalgia even though he didn't say that. Said that all my test came back ok that it didn't appear that i have anything wrong with me besides my one seizure on my eeg. And that even if i did win since i don't have enough credits and i have to file for ssi and my husband works that i probably won't recieve much as far as a monthly benefit.
Avatar f tn Its been almost three years ago that I posted on this website about my fibromyalgia symptoms after that.....On 5/10/2007, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia from my rheumatologist. He started me on Lexapro 20mg and Lyrica 200mg. I felt sooo good to get a diagnoses, a name for my craziness. It was a ruff two years after that, always feeling sick but sometimes better...my period cycle, the week before it started would cause a "flare up" I would call it.
Avatar n tn All of sudden in April 2009 I started getting about 24 hours of flu-like symptoms post anaerobic exercise. Included in this is any kind of aerobic exercise with a significant resistance portion such as a "Hill interval" setting on an elliptical machine. I have taken a huge 5 month break of almost any intense physical activity and the first day back at the gym produces the same symptoms as when I was working out 4-5x a week.
