Avatar n tn Flu like symptoms, muscle ache, joint pain, edema, weight gain, occasional fever, heavy chest like labored breathing. All tests show normal the doc gave lasex for the edema but other symptoms come and go. Any suggestions welcome.
470168 tn?1237471245 I have been taking Lyrica about 1 yr. When I first started Lyrica I immediately experienced euphoria. It was great, I felt wonderful, almost like being high! I again experience it whenever the dosage is increased. This euphoric feeling went away in a short period of time which was disappointing. However, I have found that it still continues to help in a more normal way. My energy level is better than before, I have less pain and my mood is also better.
675329 tn?1297288378 i called my dr back and said put me back on the gabapentin as i can tolerate it. i am concerned though about the weight gain.
Avatar f tn Why is it everything they give you for this makes you gain weight yet they tell you to lose the weight to help relief stress from your muscles. Go figure.
Avatar f tn What insurance company sent you info on Fibromyalgia. I have never gotten info that validated weight gain as part of FM symptoms. I have gained weight and even with going on a severely regimented weight loss program, in 10 months I only lost 16 pounds. Other women on the program were losing 45 -75 lbs in the time that I was losing the small amt. I was. I could not understand this and my frustration was unbelieveable.
Avatar f tn After taking Armour thyroid for over 20 years for a thyroid nodule, I was changed to Synthroid because my TSH was too low. Now I have extreme fatigue, intolerance to cold, pain in my ear, a full feeling in my throat on the side of the thyroid nodule, a feeling of not getting a full breath, weight gain of over 30 pounds in the 2 years I've been on the synthroid. I used to do one hour of exercise at the gym 3 times a week and now can hardly do 30 minutes.
Avatar f tn ll start taking magnesium with the D. Being deficient causes all of these symptoms? Even the weight gain and my period being almost 6 months late? Seems like something more is going on even if I am truly deficient.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Cymbalta and Xanax at the same time for more than a year. In fact, I lost almost 30 lbs. Don't think negative. I think it depends. Some gain and sone lose weight...not sure why... Thanks!
Avatar m tn But you do have the symptoms of Cushing's! Just because you don't have weight gain (not everyone does) does not mean you don't have it - it means your doctor is not an expert. One does not have to have all the symptoms. My BP was low and I did not gain weight for years. My largest issue was the same as yours - poor healing and sick all the time. You may be cyclical/episodic if your testing comes out strange.
Avatar f tn My back and neck hurts 24/7...The only other thing I can think of is the weight gain of 50 pounds in the last 3 years. That I blame on menapause and the lack of energy to exercise like I used to??? I take melatonin and Benadryl to sleep at night, and even with that I wake up around 3AM to take more Motrin. (Motrin works better then Aspiren, Tylenol, Aleve, etc) I can't think of any other problems. I'm truly NOT a wimp.
Avatar n tn First, I'm not a doctor, but I don't believe fibromyalgia has a known cause or even a consensus set of symptoms -- it's a disease defined by symptoms, not a cause. But I don't believe menopause can "bring it on." That would imply it was a hormonally caused disorder, as that's the only change menopause brings on that would seem to be at issue. So I'm not sure this diagnosis is accurate or if it is the cause doesn't seem to be accurate.
735919 tn?1236444549 I took Lyrica for my fibro although it really helped with the pain, I had excessive weight gain and my hands and feet swelled. That doesnt happen to everyone.. you might go online there are several companies that will help you pay for your meds.
Avatar n tn s relaxant, so when you target that you can gain weight. The medical approach with fibromyalgia is to treat the pain, the natural approach is to build the body up through diet, exercise, meditation, etc. eliminating all weakening and inflammatory factors. Snris are now being used for fibromyalgia pain, but they are very difficult drugs and hard to quit and can be liver toxic, but something else to consider if nothing else is working. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Actually there is no weight gain! That is one of the benefits of this medication b/c it is like cymbalta (sp?). For me there were some side effects, but they subsided after a week or so. I got a lot of hot flashes, but they are gone now.
Avatar f tn To lose weight we have to stay away from bread - so I suggest eating bread at every meal. You still need to eat vegetables and protein. Thinking potatoes and yams with butter. Also sugar makes you fat - so eat a dessert after supper. And some vanilla ice cream about an hour before bed should help you sleep and gain weight too. It's not necessary to eat fast food to gain weight - better to eat the right foods and gain slowly.
Avatar n tn My fibro was brought on after a severe car accident....it took a long time to be diagnosed, years of testing and different drugs to help with the non-muscle movement. I am not on anything for it. I have learned to deal with the soreness when I have it. The night sweats no one has answers for for whatever reason. I was even tested for TB, which came out negative. But again, I have had those since my car accident in 2001.
