I have been to a psychiatrist and I can not understand how he is billing me. The codes he gives in the invoice are 99214 and 90838. I looked them up and the second codes says 60 mins of psychotherapy. However I never see him for that long. He is always late and today I saw him for probably 30 mins. Has anyone else had this problem? And how can he charge me for more time?

Do you mean, for example, could you walk into a LabCorp and have a Heptimax if you have the right forms (or codes)? I always thought certain diagnostic assays had their own patent. Heptimax usually has the ® after it - I will let someone else address what that means as far as Quest goes. Yup, small wry kick, small dry chuckle, shake of head. At least we've learned to request our own results, pretty much understand them, and can help the uninitiated jump through the hoops! I wonder if the largest radiological association in town hired some people that padded their resume and didn't actually KNOW coding? Or if Blue Cross changed some billing codes and the coders didn't use the new information?

Just reread biowham's post in which she spoke of dx codes. The most recent ones I spied off my neuro's paperwork were 368.2 (diplopia, nonspecific, IIRC), and 781.2, Abnormality of gait. So I see double and walk funny. Wonder if there's a connection...

Dear jb111o, I cannot speak to legality of your question but it seems like your provider may have not used correct codes to submit their claim. Your insurer pays claims based on what your provider submits to them. I recommend you check with your provider to make sure your provider is submitting accurate codes for services rendered. If that is not the issue, then you should contact your insurer for explanation. I hope you find this information helpful.

They say you have to have 18 different trigger point, this might be incorrect with the numbers of Trigger points, but in these points you have to be rather sensitive, if you are sensitive on these point, then yes you have Fibromyalgia. You will unfortunately have to learn about Fibromyalgia because it is not a known condition, meaning, your doctor might not be fully aware of the ins and outs of this condition unfortunately.

ve only used two codes now in almost a year. The codes only recently changed, so it makes we wonder why the Ultra meters change codes with every box. I don't get it, either, because you have to figure that their manufacturing process should be the same, regardless of the plant they are produced in.

There are many other treatments for both migraines and fibromyalgia. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia years ago. I was like a cripple trying to get dressed. Taking a small dose of Trazadone helped me some. Over the years, I kept increasing it which cured most of my symptoms. There is a new fibromyalgia med called Savella which I read praise after praise on another website. Also anti-depressants can serve as pain killers.
