Fibromyalgia and weight loss

Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia and weight loss

fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn A combination of IBS, ulcers, and chronic pain can cause weight loss, but now that you seem on the road to recovery, it's a good idea to touch base with your doctor on safe weight gain as well as whether there are any other lurking causes of your weight loss (like hyperthyroidism). One recommendation is to incorporate small meal supplements (like Ensure) into your meals - these are generally healthy and are higher in calories. Take care.
358486 tn?1294779988 I developed Fibro after getting crushed and smashed between 2 hostein dairy cows, and slwmmed into a concrete block wall. Had shoulder surger, brokens ribs etc. 15 years ago. It feels like the worse case of the flu you have ever had, then getting run over by a truck. Aches, cold makes worse, muscles hurt all over, pressure points. Hard to wear a bra my irritates me so bad. At night I have princess and the pea syndrome. Even a wrinkle in my sheets can set it off.

Avatar f tn I almost went to the emergency room due to my weight loss. My normal weight is 98 lbs and I was down to 88 lbs. I am getting an allergic reaction to almost all of the food I eat!
Avatar f tn I was told one of the side effects that I would have is weight loss. For the first three months, I did not, now my weight is coming off incredibly fast. Like 5lbs practically overnight. In running blood tests, they are now showing that I may be diabetic and have Kidney disease, both are still inconclusive. The symptoms to both the diabetes and kidney disease I can think back to before I went on the Topomax and remember having. So I don't think they started with being on Topomax.
Avatar n tn Hi. I typed in as a seach term "losing weight and oxycodone" online and it brought me to this page. A few months ago I weighed 155 and coincidentally a few months ago I started taking oxycodones 30mg's per day now and yep just came from the gym and I weigh 145. Ilost 10 pounds. It has to be from the stress of the body reacting to the drug and then the drug being taken away from the body. I just need to get the f&^% off of these pills. THE END.
Avatar f tn 99 at Ikea, good deal!) so I hopped on it and I have lost over 20lbs. I was never trying to lose weight and this loss has come upon in the last 6 months. I'm not excercising any more then before can the tramadol just do that? Is it from being up all night? Is this a really bad sign or normal?
Avatar n tn You say you're doing an "online" weight loss program and then say "under an doctor's supervision". How can this be? How can a doctor "supervise" you ONLINE - especially if you're taking very dangerous drugs that you inject into yourself? This doesn't make any sense to me and I don't know of ANY doctor with integrity who would be involved in this kind of program.
Avatar n tn The tingling in fingers, the mood swings, the stomach issues, and yes the weight loss and FATIGUE. I am only on 50 mg, and will not take more. I am surprised that so many people want to use this drug as a weight loss product. This is not a weight loss product, it is a serious drug, with serious side effects that you have to live with for the rest of your life. If I did not have to take it, I would not.
Avatar n tn Doc says I'am borderline diabetic and need to lose weight. The drug was prescribed to help with the weight loss. However she stressed that you still need to watch your diet and exercise. I have been doing this for a long time but kept going up and down with my weight. I am 5 4" and currently weigh 235.5. I weigh in every Tuesday and after 4 days I lost 3 pounds. I am now starting to take the meds 2 xs a day so it will be interesting to see what happens next week.
1084098 tn?1258657507 I'm comfortable wearing cute clothes now and I have a little more energy. Because of the Fibromyalgia I still hurt real bad, but I have 2 teenagers, so I can't just lay around. They are both very active and it helps me to be active as well. You can acheive anything with the right help and support from family and friends.
Avatar n tn However the EBV test was positive. She later developed mouth sores and experienced weight loss and dehydration. She has seen a rheumatologist (ANA titer is positive), neurologist, infectious disease doctor, and general practitioner. She is extremely fatigued all the time, and suffers from bone and joint pain. She also has a persistent headache, and is now experiencing mood swings and anxiety. She also suffers from chronic abdominal pain.

649848 tn?1534637300 Great post, Barb, thanks for your concern and the reminder. We all stay connected by our common weight loss goals, support and motivation, however it is important for us all to take into consideration the underlying/additional medical issues that can affect our weight gain/loss. Our physician(s) are a partner in this endeavor. Best wishes everyone!
Avatar n tn Hi everyone! I have been taking Effexor XR 150mg. for a month and I am experiencing weight loss. I went from weighing 169-172 lbs. to now weighing 155. I love this anti-depressant. I have found that it works for me when no other drug would. I have noticed that I get full fast and I have no desire to eat. I can only say that this drug has altered my sex drive considerably, but I was a bit over-sexed to begin with. The Effexor has made my sex drive more controllable.
Avatar f tn There are many drugs which can be prescribed to initiate weight loss. Then you will be asked to consult a dietician and a physical trainer and learn diet and exercise tips best suited for your body. Doing things the scientific way can really help reduce weight in the long run and give you a healthy toned look. Please consult your doctor regarding this. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
1300995 tn?1272864808 Having a difficult time lossing weight. I have fibromyalgia and I am slowing down.
Avatar m tn Lyrica is an anti-seizure medication too. I switched to Topamax because it didn't cause weight gain and my insurance finally covered it and I was very curious about it. Topamax has helped me with my migraines and is more energizing than Lyrica, although my doctor has told me that many people get tired on it. I am confused by this because I found myself experiencing a lot of insomnia in the beginning when I first started it.
Avatar f tn I was signifcantly overmedicated (400mg daily) and suffered memory loss and other cognitive impairments (couldn't spell, processed info really slowly, word loss, etc) for about 2 years. My doc didn't take my complaints seriously. It got to the point that it was dangerous for me to drive. I now take 50mg of Topamax daily and have good migraine control without side effects. I only need OTC meds for the occassional breakthrough migraine. I also went to a chiropractor who worked on my jaw.
Avatar f tn I've been on Met for almost four months now and my sugars have gradually come down, my appetite has gradually lessened, and I finally am seeing a bit of weight loss...nothing spectacular, but spectacular isn't what works in the longrun...it's that slow and steady progress that is so good for us. The most encouaging thing I think I can share with you is how much better I've done by viewing myself as an intricate WHOLE.
Avatar f tn It sounds like you are getting a little bit of the run around here. You really need to see a Rheumatologist who is friendly to Fibromyalgia. I looked at your profile and didn't notice where you live. Are you in the states or outside? Below is a really good website to find a doctor or provider who knows how to treat and diagnose FM and CFS. Depending on where you live, I may have one more site for you. http://www.co-cure.org/Good-Doc.
470168 tn?1237474845 I have had some success with diet as well, for weight loss and for symptom control. I end up gaining my weight back when the docs put me on a couple rounds of prednizone (steroids). It's really really frustrating. It's frustrating because now doctors are saying the fibromyalgia is not an autoimmune disorder. There is such a confusion on what fibromyalgia actually is.
Avatar n tn Since you are not eating because of the pain, then it would be natural for you to lose weight. However, any 'rapid' weight loss should be investigated by a physician to try and find out what is causing it and to make sure there is nothing else taking place.
