Avatar f tn Although I'm young, I'm kind of old fashioned and not a big fan of technology so my ideas are going to be all outdoor related! When I was a kid, my favorite winter activity was playing outside in the snow. Before snow fell, I liked being outside waiting for snow to fall! We built snowmen, went tobaggoning, tried to build igloos but that never worked out because we don't have the right snow. We had snow ball fights and made snow angels. Walking in the snow is hard work.
Avatar n tn All of sudden in April 2009 I started getting about 24 hours of flu-like symptoms post anaerobic exercise. Included in this is any kind of aerobic exercise with a significant resistance portion such as a "Hill interval" setting on an elliptical machine. I have taken a huge 5 month break of almost any intense physical activity and the first day back at the gym produces the same symptoms as when I was working out 4-5x a week.

604197 tn?1292308636 Hello, I'm 17 years of age and recently (2 months ago) had an accident that has resulted in the loss of my sense of smell and taste. I was at a lake, swinging on a rope into the water but lost my grip and wnet head first down a cliff of rocks and roots. I landed in the water but had hit the back of my head (near the crown, at the top) splitting my head open and fracturing my skull (3-4 inches).
700223 tn?1318169294 If you're older than 30, it's still not too late to make these lifestyle changes. A balanced diet and regular exercise will help slow the loss of bone density, delay osteopenia and osteoporosis, and delay or prevent osteoporosis. 1. Maximize calcium intake. Most recommendations are for 1000 milligrams of calcium per day for both men and women. According to the NIH, after age 50, both men and women should increase their intake to 1200 milligrams.

Avatar m tn Include mild to moderate intensity cardio exercises such as brisk walking, jogging, cycling, jumping rope and rowing -- these are all effective forms of cardio at the age of 50+ years. Before doing any exercises you need to warm your muscles by doing the routines with light weights then you can increase the weights. After doing weights then do cardio! Doing cardio first will make you exhausted and you won't have the strength to do weights.
544292 tn?1268886268 And Like Nancy in my crazy red shoulder padded double breasted BLAZER, I JUST SAY NO TO DRUGS!!! ... and now I'll rest, try and let some of the bad energy of the pain and this last week go so I can work all weekend and next week too. One day at a time. I was pretty sure last night when I got home and was so tired and disoriented that today might be like this. It is worth it.No matter what. Getting off this stuff will save me a HUGE amount of pain in the future. I liked waking up happy!
748543 tn?1463449675 For the past few weeks I have been throwing around ideas as to the best way to respond to this matter. You see a recent article ( Feb.3 , 2009 NY times) titled "Best treatment for TMJ May be Nothing" nearly made me clench my jaw to pieces. While well written, I found that the author, Ms. Brody, relied heavily on out dated and narrow perspective supplied to her by a small group of dentists.
Avatar n tn It does not seem to be related to exercise since I can go for a run and feel nothing... but then I can be sitting and all of a sudden my calves (always both at the same time) start to ache and feel tight. Sometimes they feel so sore that I can almost not walk. Water seems to help on occasions. I can't understand why all of a sudden I may be becoming dehydrated so that doesn't seem logical... The aches come and go without warning and sometimes it's much worse than other times.
Avatar f tn I have had this problem since I first got my period (I am now 22), and my sisters have a similar problem but don't do enough physical exercise to be able to notice a pattern for themselves. I have done quite a few tests of the lower abdomen (enema's, x-rays, ultrasounds,...) and nothing comes back conclusive. One of my other sisters has also been tested a little. but again nothing. If anyone has any thoughts on how the menstrual cycle ties in to this whole issue, I'd be willing to hear it.
Avatar n tn I'm sorta' familiar w/ your problem. Use to play ALOT of tennis & eventually damaged rotator-cuff but have an idea of your muscle pain that extends from 'middle trapezius'? I'm surprised you get relief w/ Ibu. Guess it wks for some for the inflamm. Never did a thing for me. Only ice-paks & 1/2 lortab-7 (narcotic) & at bed a whole. They sell a clay-filled type flat cool-pack that lasts 3xlonger than ice by KAZ. It's great at the scapula area.
97676 tn?1340408973 But getting a better diet and exercise helped I was so scared of having a panis attack I was scared to exercise and make my heart go fast. One thing I told myself is so what if I pass out or have a heart attack they will call an ambulance and all will be fine.I think getting closer to God and having a true friend also helped me a great deal.I have been there and wasted so much money on things even doctors and I had the power to change it all by myself.
Avatar n tn Unfortunately, since the (great) powers that make lots of money from Western medicine won't make any if we all start using the Eastern medicinal alternatives that work so much better, there will always be plenty of sites dispelling their benefits and claiming them to be "quackery"...that's just the way big U.S. money is made; keeping the truth from the masses of low-level sheep. *(To pro-actively respond to any accusations of my having no idea what I'm talking about...
Avatar n tn Before the appointment came around I was at a local alternative café's music fest and ended up, after a few beers, jumping up and down in the front row of the crowded café right in front of the band, dancing my merry heart out, just like the 'old days'. The next day, somewhat worn out from my fun night, I suddenly realised "Hell..there can't be much wrong with my lungs if I could do that !
1697690 tn?1329127238 Small consolation..I know... as I feel like jumping out of my skin right now as I type this...Feel free to contact me anytime if it gets too bad...Anj.
975514 tn?1325001538 Some of you may have a diagnosis from your doctor, some of you may be seeking an answer for undiagnosed symptoms and some of you may be a relative or friend of one who is suffering. This is a great place to learn more and to gain support from others who suffer as well. In addition to the community here, MedHelp also offers tools to help you and your doctor in your road to wellness. Fibromyalgia and CFS can be so intricate and can have so many different symptoms.
Avatar n tn s each day (don't go under 1000) 2) Eat at least 50g of protein 3) Exercise 3-4 times a week 4) Drink at least 64oz of water (You'll need it to flush the bad stuff out) It's easy to drink the water if you're taking the pill, it makes you have a dry mouth. But watch out, it you have a dry mouth, and do not drink something A LOT, then you'll have more trips to the dentist!!
Avatar n tn Since beginning Effexor 1 year ago, I have gained a combined total of 53 pounds. AND YES I EXERCISE AND EAT HEALTHY! At one point I even got a trainer and still couldn't lose weight. I am afraid to go off Effexor because I'm convinced that I'm "A Lifer" as far as needing medication fro depression.
Avatar n tn I feel like I'm at the end of my rope! Having a heart condition (open heart surgery) recently, the stress of dealing with a unhappy child on drugs and knowing what to do for them, the right way to handle the situation, and not cause them more trouble is becoming more difficult each day. Question, do I keep calm and agree with them, listen to there problems,or get angry and shout and say "you have to help yourself first"? Please give me any advice so I will do the right thing.
Avatar n tn I tried to use hydro 10 to get me through the tramadol detox, no such luck. I just took those in a matter of a week, like you said. I get a prescrip of tramadol's 240 that is suppose to last all month. It last 2 weeks at most. I have been off of them for a few days then my husband would have a scrip for them, and he didn't use them or even know he had them, so I would use his. My doc actually gives me 11 refils on them, I have been on for 3 yrs now.
Avatar n tn I'm glad I found this thread, but not glad to hear others are suffering like me. I'm male, 54, 6' 285 lbs. don't exercise and sit in front of the computer all day (graphic designer). I've been suffering from this incredible pain for about four years now. Feels as if someone shot a stun-gun into my right upper / inner thigh and then also took a knife, plunged it in and started to twist it. The pain level is, like someone said, a 13 on a scale from 1 to 10.
Avatar n tn What makes it worse is it's not a simple toss and turn all night, it's an almost indesribable twisting, knawing feeling in the pit of my stomach that forces me out of bed, even though I'm so tired I can't hold my head up. I've tried having a couple drinks before bed, over the counter sleep meds, even got some halcion from a friend, all to no avail. How long can I expect this to last, or is there something I can do to lessen the pain in the meantime?
Avatar n tn My son is 11 months old and has had an ear infection and cold for 2 weeks now, with his runny nose thick with green cattarh and appearing to get no better. i have also noticed a small cluster of pinprick sized lumps around the outer corner of each of his eyes, can anyone tell me what these could be?
