I've been on enbrel since 2003. I didn't develop or notice an infection until about a year ago. I am not saying enbrel caused it, but I've either had since college and slowly enbrel suppressed my immune system and the infection popped up again or I developed a recent infection. Eitherway, I have an infection now that I've tried to treat with aldara but has made my psoriasis worse and thus spread the infection making the infection worse, ie more warts.
I have been told to get off Enbrel for needed gallbladder surgery. My problem is that when I get off Enbrel, every joint in my body swells, turns red, hurts unbearably and locks up. I become completely bedridden and cannot get dressed or go to the bathroom without help. My blood tests show that, even with the Enbrel, my c reactives and other immune response numbers are very high. They tell me that they will give me prednisone to help with the reaction.
I am on Enbrel and has to stop taking it for four weeks because of an upper respiratory infection. I started back two weeks ago and this brings back to memory of when I first started the injections and how if affected my stress and outlook.. I am an emotional wreck, mad at everyone and just miserable .. has anyone else experienced these things with taking Enbrel ?

t stay on it very long until I have an infection and have to go off for awhile. Enbrel seemed a little nicer but not quite enough to control my disease. Its a fine line. I also live on 15 mg Prednisone a day, more or flares. I have lesions in my bowel from the disease that need to be controlled or my bowel has to be taken out soon. But again, lesions, then infection, lesions, then infection. The Lord giveth and The Lord taketh away; BLESSED BE THE NAME OF THE LORD!
No reasons at all. Just wanted to make sure I had no STD after knowing that my ex was unfaithful. My body have been thru so much the past few month, I lost a baby, and after that I been having few yeast infection wich I'm not use to and that s is why I ask my doctor, the gyn said, that didn't look like herpes and gave me Terazol and it got better. Btw I just realize that the day I test I had an enbrel a day before but I was also on Terazol treatment. Would that make a change?
Hi everyone. I've been taking Enbrel for about 6 months successfully for my AS. I had to suspend taking it once for a sinus infection, but then I resumed. Now I have poision ivy, and my rheumy's office manager recommends I stop the Enbrel, but for poison ivy that seems extreme. Has anyone had a similar experience, or does anyone have any insights to share on this? Thanks.
m convinced that there is a correlation between these things and the Enbrel. Have any other Enbrel users been diagnosed with any of these inflammatory diseases? My gut feeling is that the Enbrel truly is the cause, but it has worked so well on my joints, I'm hesitant to try anything else. My Rheumatologist is going to argue with me about my hypothesis, but I know my body. Can anyone give some insight?
Two weeks prior to this I had a UTI. That infection coupled with the HLA gene is what brough on my reactive arthrits. In 2 out of 3 people the arthritis goes away when the infection is gone. Unfortunately I am not one of those people. I had all the same tests your wife has had, did she have any kind of infection prior to dx?
There were no biopsies done- no masses,cancer blood clots. I have RA and had a staff infection last summer after stay in hospital. Lung infection and vulva ulcer. Months on heavy anti-biotics to clear it. I have had asthma 30 yrs but rarely need puffer- must be exposed to something I'm allergic to .There is definate asthma componant. Went to hospital sat morn -couldn't breathe without pain and great difficuly.
ve read your responses to other posts and they were helpful too. Did either of you suffer from any serious infection while taking the enbrel? If so, how bad was it? Did you have to stop enbrel for a while? Also, I'm a bit confused about what you said, Smittygirl, because my doctor said that I should start feeling better in a few days after starting taking enbrel. It took you three months to see any improvement. Is it because you waited longer or maybe your case was more severe?
AROUND THREE YEARS AGO I WAS HAVING FLARE UPS AND MY DOCTOR ALSO ME ON ENBREL, WORKED VERY GOOD FOR THE RA BUT MY NOW MY THROAT IS ALWAYS SORE AND CONGESTED WITH PHELM. THIS YEAR I'VE SEEM NUMEROUS DOCTORS ENT, GENERAL ALERGIST AND EVEN HAD SINUS SURGERY FOR 30 GRAND, NOTHING FIXED THE THROAT PROBLEMS. I SEEM MY RA DOCTOR THE OTHER DAY AND ADVISED HIM I'M GOING TO GET OFF OF THE ENBREL AND SEE IF MY THROAT CONDITION IMPROVES. HE DID NOT THINK THAT WAS THE PROBLEM.
Several ground glass opacities in my right lung showed up on a CT scan in July 2011. Enbrel was discontinued and coincidentally I took a regime of prednisone for an allergy problem - 60 mg for one week, then with a weekly taper. A repeat CT scan was performed in December 2011 and one ground glass opacity remained (15 mm), with a small focus of sold component within the ground glass density. A percutaneous biopsy was performed to rule out bronchogenic carcinoma.
I have had moderate to severe RA for 5 years. Take Enbrel once a week and am supposed to take 5mg. injectible of methotrexate weekly. I had gone without the methotrexate for at least six months and have not noticed any difference at all. I am scared to death of the methotrexate. Can anyone explain why my doctor wants me to continue it if it does not seem to make a difference? I do great on the Enbrel by itself, but am sure there are reasons, I just don't understand!
My doctor wants to put me on Enbrel but i am nervious about it. All the reading i do about it suggests that the cure is worse then the disease and it seems that the risk of getting cancer, lupus or the like is extreamly high (higher then the other injectables). I am no stranger to biologics, my doctor had me on Raptiva (before they pulled it) and i loved it. Completly cleared me with no side effects and even kept me clear for 2 years after i stopped using it. But Enbrel scares me.
Hi I have been on Enbrel injections for over 4 years and i can't praise the drug enough fantastic results - i have the chance to visit family in Australia for 4 months when i retire in 18 months time the only obstacle is my medication and how would it work with my getting enbrel injections and it is a long flight - is there a solution around this problem
I'm 25 weeks pregnant. I've had a couple bacterial infections and recently I've noticed some little white bumps in the vaginal area. I was wondering if this could be from the bacterial infection? Or if it could be from a yeast infection? I have an appointment tomorrow but it's really worrying me and I was just looking for some answers.
I recently went to the eye dr with my 3rd viral eye infection this yr. The opto suggested that I go tested for rheumatoid arthritis. I tested negative for lymes disease. I did have a postive anachoice screen w/refl ifa. I also had a ana titer and patter - anti-nuclear ab titer ana pattern of 1.40. (1.80 elevated antibody level) My rheumatoid factor is 7 and c-reactive is 0.4. I have some pain and stiffness in my knees. And sometime feel stiff in my back.
