enbrel

Avatar n tn weird, never thought that enbrel would be a cause of hpv. I have developed hpv before starting on enbrel. what connection is there between the two?
Avatar m tn I have spoken with other patients that have successfully used similar TNF inhibitors like Enbrel, but these drugs muck with immune response, and should be discussed with your prescribing physician.
Avatar f tn Lulu--I used to take humira, which is a TNF inhibitor like Enbrel. One of the rare side effects of both humira and enbrel is the development of MS or MS-like symptoms. I didn't pay enough attention to the warning because it seemed so remote and happened so rarely. However, it happened to me. If what I have is MS, the doctor isn't sure whether the humira caused it, or if I would've gotten MS anyway, but the humira hurried the process along.
Avatar f tn Also known as TNF blockers, TNF inhibitors target the TNF-alpha protein that is linked to inflammation and is overproduced in inflammatory diseases like rheumatoid arthritis. TNF-alpha is also a key player in helping the body fight cancer, leading investigators to speculate that blocking it may promote cancer growth. In the newly published study, researchers from Stockholm's Karolinska University Hospital analyzed data from several Swedish health registries.
Avatar f tn The doctor kept talking about Enbrel or something comparable, but I was hesitant. I have avoided going to any of the TNF blockers but it took over a year of treatment before everything came under control. There are no guarantees that it would work that way for someone else. Please let us know what you decide to do and we will support you as you go through this.
Avatar n tn Hi there, Please don't be so quick to reject prescription medication. For every horror story there are dozens for whom the meds have literally been a lifesaver. I am one of them. I've been on Enbrel several years with no serious side effects and complete relief from RA flare-ups. There's a good chance it'll work for you too, but you won't know unless you try. Every patient is as different as a fingerprint. Having said that, it is ALWAYS your choice, your body!
Avatar m tn TNF is the leading autoimmune cause of psoriasis and that is why they use enbrel and TNF inhibitors to treat psoriasis. So is the replication of hsv2 causing the psoriasis by increasing my TNF when it replicates at macrophage ganglion.
Avatar n tn If NSAIDs do not give you sufficient relief and you will not consider a TNF like Enbrel, talk to your doctor about DMARDs. They all have their rare side effects but your doctor can help you weigh the benefits and risks. Good luck and please keep in touch so we know how you are doing and can help you through which ever approach you choose to take.
Avatar f tn The prednisone provided minimal relief, and I was weaned off the prednisone, and put on sulfazine. In September, 2008 I was prescribed Enbrel and finally Methotrexate (January, 2009). I have received much relief with the current medications (I continue to take Plaquenil as well). My question is, is it possible that my car accident and resulting injury caused my RA flares?
1120928 tn?1263190816 has given me the choice of taking Humira or Remicade and explained the risks of TNF blockers. I have a blood disorder that weekend my immune system at a young age and I am not sure of taking something that would weaken it more. I was wondering if anyone could tell me more of how they felt after taking either drug, and if they have experienced any severe infections or not.
Avatar f tn Actually I´m on it been that for 6 weeks can´t say if it had helped me yet. still very fatigue and have muscle joint and bone pain. Avatar m tn Does anyone have any input to this? Things really aren't getting better or worse?
Avatar n tn The TNF Blockers work really well for the reactive arthritis related to my Crohn's Disease [Crohn's Colitis]. However, I have found that to varying degrees Remicade and Humira give me the following side effects. I am trying to find out if these are normal side effects and if anyone has found a way to manage them. Physical therapy is not giving me enough relief at this point.
Avatar n tn AROUND THREE YEARS AGO I WAS HAVING FLARE UPS AND MY DOCTOR ALSO ME ON ENBREL, WORKED VERY GOOD FOR THE RA BUT MY NOW MY THROAT IS ALWAYS SORE AND CONGESTED WITH PHELM. THIS YEAR I'VE SEEM NUMEROUS DOCTORS ENT, GENERAL ALERGIST AND EVEN HAD SINUS SURGERY FOR 30 GRAND, NOTHING FIXED THE THROAT PROBLEMS. I SEEM MY RA DOCTOR THE OTHER DAY AND ADVISED HIM I'M GOING TO GET OFF OF THE ENBREL AND SEE IF MY THROAT CONDITION IMPROVES. HE DID NOT THINK THAT WAS THE PROBLEM.
422104 tn?1209763904 Doctor, I would like information related to Enbrel and MS. I used Enbrel for less than one year. I now have demylination of the cervical spinal cord, both optic nerves, plaques in my brain, numbness in leg and balance problems. I am now fifty eight. Symtoms started at age fifty six with numbness in leg and balance problems. I have been told it looks "MSish." Questions: now that the new symptom of, the optic nerves being demlinated, is it MS?
Avatar f tn I have been told to get off Enbrel for needed gallbladder surgery. My problem is that when I get off Enbrel, every joint in my body swells, turns red, hurts unbearably and locks up. I become completely bedridden and cannot get dressed or go to the bathroom without help. My blood tests show that, even with the Enbrel, my c reactives and other immune response numbers are very high. They tell me that they will give me prednisone to help with the reaction.
6537448 tn?1383243494 Hi sunshinecloudy, Methotrexate can take 3-6 months in your system before you can determine if it's going to work for you or not. That's one of the frustrating parts about autoimmune disease - we spend a lot of time waiting to see if a drug is going to be effective. Very few of them have noticeable effects after the first or second dose.
Avatar f tn Some people do much better on Enbrel than Humira. If you are having problems and experiencing side effects, it sounds like Humira might not be the right one for you. Please let us know what your rhuemy has to say about what you are experiencing. I hope something helps soon as I know what a misery it is to be in flare.
1544019 tn?1318504526 I have had Rheumatoid Arthritis since I was 19 years old. I'm now 32 and pregnant. I've been giving myself shots of Enbrel to control it since 2001. When we started doing IVF treatments to get pregnant, I went off of the Enbrel. For the first two trimesters, my RA seemed to go into remission and I didn't need any treatments - which was a MIRACLE! Now I'm starting my third trimester (I'm 27 weeks) and I am starting to have ALL SORTS of complications with my joints.

Avatar f tn I have had moderate to severe RA for 5 years. Take Enbrel once a week and am supposed to take 5mg. injectible of methotrexate weekly. I had gone without the methotrexate for at least six months and have not noticed any difference at all. I am scared to death of the methotrexate. Can anyone explain why my doctor wants me to continue it if it does not seem to make a difference? I do great on the Enbrel by itself, but am sure there are reasons, I just don't understand!
Avatar m tn My doctor wants to put me on Enbrel but i am nervious about it. All the reading i do about it suggests that the cure is worse then the disease and it seems that the risk of getting cancer, lupus or the like is extreamly high (higher then the other injectables). I am no stranger to biologics, my doctor had me on Raptiva (before they pulled it) and i loved it. Completly cleared me with no side effects and even kept me clear for 2 years after i stopped using it. But Enbrel scares me.
