t think mtx has damaged my immune system. Mtx keeps my immune system from getting out of control and attacking my joints. Without it, I'm sure I'd be having a lot more problems. Mtx has been around for decades and its effects and side effect are well known and documented. I trust it more than I trust prednisone, which I try to avoid at all costs.

ve either had since college and slowly enbrel suppressed my immune system and the infection popped up again or I developed a recent infection. Eitherway, I have an infection now that I've tried to treat with aldara but has made my psoriasis worse and thus spread the infection making the infection worse, ie more warts. They are incredibly small and not that noticeable (except to me) and its spreading.
In some people with psoriasis interferon is contraindicated. It tends to make the psoriasis worse. I imagine that yours is moderate to severe since your doctor is prescribing enbrel. You need to talk to your doctors to get your answer to the questions. No one here knows your medical history. And yes, both meds can work for their respective diseases however interferon and enbrel work differently on the immune system and I don't know if they can even be taken together.
My blood tests show that, even with the Enbrel, my c reactives and other immune response numbers are very high. They tell me that they will give me prednisone to help with the reaction. If the only reason for getting off the Enbrel is to protect me from infection, doesn't the prednisone do the same thing? I can't take prednisone without major side effects, including bleeding alot over everything...wouldn't that be bad during surgery?
Actually I´m on it been that for 6 weeks can´t say if it had helped me yet. still very fatigue and have muscle joint and bone pain.
I´m making "my own" LDN from 50mg naltrexone pills only cost me 5$ a month when doing 4.5mg doses.

I am in my 40s and take Enbrel (so a lowered immune system) and also suffer terrible anxiety (especially over health issues).
In a moment of stupidity, took one puff off of someone’s vape pen (they wiped it first but I don’t know them) after they said “they don’t have anything” to try the flavor. However, the inside of the vape pen has an opening that where some vape juice accumulates so it’s wet inside there.
The effect of the drugs that you are taking is more profound on the cellular side of the immune system than the antibody producing side. Furthermore, while these drugs are immunosuppressive, they are not profoundly immunosuppressive. They might make the clinical presentations of herpes more obvious but they would be unlikely to hamper the development of a positive antibody test. If you have not had an outbreak, my advice would be to believe the tests.

Have a real pain from PsA and have to start treatment with ENBREL which is biological drug and it suppose to lower my immune system .My rheumy told me that there is tinny possibility of relapsing after taking it..
All this time I thought that once you get rid of virus that is it . How comes it can relapse after 3 years ??? Goggling thru the net couldn't find anything than can give any proof for his theory.
As IFN can affect many cells in a variety of ways, dysfunction within the IFN system may cause disturbances in other parts of the immune system. The medication I am on for RA, Methotrexate and prednisone, is suppressing my immune system like it is supposed to. However, in doing this it has caused the EBV to go wild and the fatigue is so severe. I have been to an infectious disease doctor who told me there is nothing he can do until I would get off the immune suppressing drugs.
I take good quality vitamins in addition to the different medication I am on.
Hi. I have a friend who has a weakend immune system due to medications from a transplant. She is now worried she contracted an STD from her boyfriend who cheated on her. She is not showing any symptoms although she still plans on getting tested. We were curious, however, if she is more likely than a person with a regular immune system to show symptoms or not?
When I get sick with a cold, or any virus that invades my body, my immune system attacks it and I get better. Because I have had HepC for so long, and my immune system has constantly been trying to battle it, doesn't that mean that it has not had the same strength to battle other illnesses at the same time? When I look back, before I knew I hade HepC, everytime I even got a cold, it took me about 2 to 3 weeks to get rid of it and everyone else in my family was over it in 4 to 5 days.
