So just an update about this. Just when we finally got cleared for me to take the Enbrel while pregnant, we find out it's not going to be into the pharmacy until Friday AND it's going to cost $900!!! BUT it turns out it will actually probably be safer for me TO take the Enbrel. I have to control my arthritis because if I don't control it, (according to the lady at the pregnancy risk hotline we talked to today) Rheumatoid ARthritis puts me at risk for still birth and preterm labor.

Hi, recently my mother was switched to enbrel, now she can get the medication at home. I will be injecting the medication weekly. I read on the instructions that you are supposed to aspirate and then supply the medication, this is to ensure that a vein or artery has not been hit. We are going to be using pre-filled syringes. Now, I am a bit worried because what if when aspirating I get blood in the syringe? Do I have to discard the medicine?

s a bit scary to learn to inject yourself. However a nurse will sit down with you and walk you through it the first time, and give you all the time you need. I bet that within a week or two the jitters will be gone.

Well today Iwent to pain managment and he said my leg pain is prolly coming from the L5 hitting a nerve as he looked at my last MRI, well I was sent there for a steroid injection in the sacriolic joint I just hope he is right and he said he doesnt agree with the AS thing, but the L5 wouldnt cause all the pain and swelling in my hands as I did to much last night and this AM i was so bad and my hands were swollen all day, if I dont have the AS thing then taking this Enbrel is just a hazard to me e

Im still unsure though whether or not I could actually inject myself. Anyway I am going to bring it up with her and see what she thinks. I just wish that I had gotton a little bit more relief from the MTX, maybe even a higher dose may help.

Enbrel must be refrigerated at 2° to 8°C (36° to 46°F). Also, therapy with enbrel makes you most susceptible to infections, so take adequate precautions. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Someone once posted a helpful video site on how to inject pegasys and I was wondering it there is any information on how to inject procrit. My last two hgb blood test results were 9.7 and 9.4 , so my doctor is going to order procrit for me. I am going to get procrit 40,000 units per ml per week. Is that the dose that everyone else is doing? Do you have to mix the solution or measure it out to inject ? My mind is a bit foggy these days....

I've been on enbrel since 2003. I didn't develop or notice an infection until about a year ago. I am not saying enbrel caused it, but I've either had since college and slowly enbrel suppressed my immune system and the infection popped up again or I developed a recent infection. Eitherway, I have an infection now that I've tried to treat with aldara but has made my psoriasis worse and thus spread the infection making the infection worse, ie more warts.

I have had moderate to severe RA for 5 years. Take Enbrel once a week and am supposed to take 5mg. injectible of methotrexate weekly. I had gone without the methotrexate for at least six months and have not noticed any difference at all. I am scared to death of the methotrexate. Can anyone explain why my doctor wants me to continue it if it does not seem to make a difference? I do great on the Enbrel by itself, but am sure there are reasons, I just don't understand!

Shall I just wait this period and suffer through the pain to avoid taking the Enbrel? Although I really need to get back to normal soon because I have studies and work. 3. Will it get worse, better, or stay as it is while I'm waiting for the symptoms to go away? 4. Will I get such symptoms again in the future, if I'm on or off medications? How bad will it be? Is the antigen I have a factor in having Reiter's chronically?

AROUND THREE YEARS AGO I WAS HAVING FLARE UPS AND MY DOCTOR ALSO ME ON ENBREL, WORKED VERY GOOD FOR THE RA BUT MY NOW MY THROAT IS ALWAYS SORE AND CONGESTED WITH PHELM. THIS YEAR I'VE SEEM NUMEROUS DOCTORS ENT, GENERAL ALERGIST AND EVEN HAD SINUS SURGERY FOR 30 GRAND, NOTHING FIXED THE THROAT PROBLEMS.

Doctor, I would like information related to Enbrel and MS. I used Enbrel for less than one year. I now have demylination of the cervical spinal cord, both optic nerves, plaques in my brain, numbness in leg and balance problems. I am now fifty eight. Symtoms started at age fifty six with numbness in leg and balance problems. I have been told it looks "MSish." Questions: now that the new symptom of, the optic nerves being demlinated, is it MS?

Also, I forgot to ask this at her last rheumy appt, but how is Remicade any better than Enbrel or Humira? (SHe hasn't been on them, but I just wondered why he chose Remicade.) Any info you can provide would be most appreciated! My daughter is at the end of her rope.

I am on Enbrel and has to stop taking it for four weeks because of an upper respiratory infection. I started back two weeks ago and this brings back to memory of when I first started the injections and how if affected my stress and outlook.. htm If you get a fungal infection, you should call your doctor immediately. Since it is a known risk, your doctor will know how to treat you, and may recommend discontinuing the medication for at least some time.

The first thing that came to mind for you is to contact the company that makes Enbrel.. Not sure how differently things work in Canada but here the drug company is paying the co-pay for the first year so I have no out of pocket expense at all. I completely understand your concern, I have been on it for only 4 months and am concerned that the 3 or 4 weeks I won't have will take me back to square one. Hi, I'm from London UK. I've been using cortisol cream for over 30 years. What else are you supposed to do? I am covered but change in season, stress etc etc bring it on worse and then suddenly it diminishes of it's own accord. I have been advised to go for light treatment, can't, CFS so can't get there regularly. Multiple allergies so scared of tablets. People on here are saying a med beginning with an e, never heard of it, is supposed to be brilliant.

My dad has been taking Enbrel for several yrs for psoriatic arthritis. I realize this is not the same condition as yours, but it has helped him tremendously!

I am so sorry that you are feeling so poorly. I hate this disease. I was doing much better for a long time, but I am having a horrible flare up now. This is the worst that I have had this disease. I have had it for 4.5 years now. It is so very discouraging.

The symptoms you mention are defintely possible side effects of Enbrel. While it can take time to adjust to a new medication, if the side effects have a worse effect on your ability to function than the condition it is suppose to treat, it is worth evaluating all the ways your condition effects your life versus the side effects of the meds. There are many who swear by this medication and a few that I have met in the forum that wish they had never taken it.
