enbrel

Avatar f tn We whoed her to the best doctors here, and all of them say that it looks like she has JRA and want her to start on Enbrel. But I am really worried about the diagnosis. The blood results are not bad, Reumo factor is negative, CT showed the liquid in the knew but for me difficult to translate everything else. But I waana say that there is no marker whic hwould show that it JRA. No infections identified. What to do?
Avatar m tn I'm concerned that you aren't receiving treatment for your JRA. Are you seeing a rheumatologist? It is vitally important to treat the disease with medications that slow down or halt the progression of joint damage. Even if you're feeling relatively well but are not being treated, the underlying disease process is still going on.

Avatar f tn My husband has had JRA since he was 7. He is now 27. He had his hips replaced at 16. He has the systemic version of this disease, and it isn't pretty. Last april we spent the entire month in the hospital with pancreatius. He has had his gall bladder removed and is on Creon-10 which from my understanding is a pancreatic enzyme. I guess my question is my hubby has been on prednisone and plaquenil. He takes hydrocodone for pain which is usually severe. The doctor has suggested Humira.
1602878 tn?1304336016 My son has had bad joint problems since the fifth grade, even ending up in a wheel chair for awhile. They said he had JRA. It affects his hands, feet, ankles, and other joints. He has trouble getting over any illness and is prone to infections, but this is better now that he's off the enbrel. He's 25 and very active. He controls some symptoms by eating healthy and supplements. He thinks he has an auto-immune disorder, but not RA. Just something for us to consider.
Avatar n tn I'm Shanna. I have a niece who was diagnosed with JRA, she is 17 now and still has flare ups, but she was diagnosed at about 4yrs old. I'm not sure what the cut off age is for JRA. I obviously have RA running in my family. I was only diagnosed with RA about a year ago, but now that I think about some of the joint issues I had when I was younger, I wonder if it wasn't there all along. Obviously, it must have been much less severe when I was younger.
1716849 tn?1308873149 I was diagnosed with JRA when I was 2. It started in my foot, moved to my left knee, and stayed there. It was pretty bad - I limped everywhere, it always hurt, and my poor muscles in that leg were weak. It started to get better slowly when I was about 9, and by the time I was in high school, it was almost normal. When I was 15, though, it came back worse than ever.
Avatar f tn I have been told to get off Enbrel for needed gallbladder surgery. My problem is that when I get off Enbrel, every joint in my body swells, turns red, hurts unbearably and locks up. I become completely bedridden and cannot get dressed or go to the bathroom without help. My blood tests show that, even with the Enbrel, my c reactives and other immune response numbers are very high. They tell me that they will give me prednisone to help with the reaction.
Avatar n tn Hi I have been on Enbrel injections for over 4 years and i can't praise the drug enough fantastic results - i have the chance to visit family in Australia for 4 months when i retire in 18 months time the only obstacle is my medication and how would it work with my getting enbrel injections and it is a long flight - is there a solution around this problem
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed at age 5 and am now 51. The disease symptoms have evolved over the years, plus treatments have improved. Once you have RA, you have it for life - I for one don't understand the medical profession's insistence that juvenile and adult RA are two distinct diseases. [[shrug]] I also don't have significant joint deformity in many joints. My feet were the worst but those have been surgically fixed.
Avatar f tn My 5 year old daughter may/may not have either JRA or Lupus. We are scheduling an appointment with a rheumetologist also as we have yet to receive results form blood work done at the hospital and I do not understand how this could have happened, but I am thankful for the posts as she had a viral infection recently and so maybe this will go away? Or is it permanent? Does anyone know?
422104 tn?1209763904 Makes sense. The secretary started to say on the message " it is too much" and stopped herself, guess I jumped to the needle thing too quickly. I start taking Enbrel tomorrow for my arthritis and AS, the neuro says it's ok. When I researched the drug it states that people with MS should not take it. I asked a neuro on this forum about it and he said Enbrel can " increase and or bring on demyelination".
Avatar f tn From what you are reporting I would think that the JRA has reared it's ugly head. Many adults to experience a reoccuranc of their JRA. RA can cause pain, stiffness, immune problems (difficulty healing), numbness, tingling and many more symptoms. I would suggest seeing a neurologist to rule out any conditions like MS. I would also suggest getting a bone density scan to see if you have or are at risk for osteoporosis. Additionally I would see a rheumatologist.
422104 tn?1209763904 Doctor, I would like information related to Enbrel and MS. I used Enbrel for less than one year. I now have demylination of the cervical spinal cord, both optic nerves, plaques in my brain, numbness in leg and balance problems. I am now fifty eight. Symtoms started at age fifty six with numbness in leg and balance problems. I have been told it looks "MSish." Questions: now that the new symptom of, the optic nerves being demlinated, is it MS?
Avatar n tn AROUND THREE YEARS AGO I WAS HAVING FLARE UPS AND MY DOCTOR ALSO ME ON ENBREL, WORKED VERY GOOD FOR THE RA BUT MY NOW MY THROAT IS ALWAYS SORE AND CONGESTED WITH PHELM. THIS YEAR I'VE SEEM NUMEROUS DOCTORS ENT, GENERAL ALERGIST AND EVEN HAD SINUS SURGERY FOR 30 GRAND, NOTHING FIXED THE THROAT PROBLEMS. I SEEM MY RA DOCTOR THE OTHER DAY AND ADVISED HIM I'M GOING TO GET OFF OF THE ENBREL AND SEE IF MY THROAT CONDITION IMPROVES. HE DID NOT THINK THAT WAS THE PROBLEM.
Avatar n tn weird, never thought that enbrel would be a cause of hpv. I have developed hpv before starting on enbrel. what connection is there between the two?
Avatar f tn we were told it was JRA at first too and it disappeared for a few years (remission is what doctor called it), but we have found out that she doesn't have JRA she has RND Reflex Neurovascular Dystrophy. Does she get a redness to her skin like a sunburn? They are thinking my daughter may eventually be diagnosed with Lupus but for now she is only diagnosed with RND and an unknown autoimmune issue. Ask your rheumatologists about possible RND.
1544019 tn?1318504526 When we started doing IVF treatments to get pregnant, I went off of the Enbrel. For the first two trimesters, my RA seemed to go into remission and I didn't need any treatments - which was a MIRACLE! Now I'm starting my third trimester (I'm 27 weeks) and I am starting to have ALL SORTS of complications with my joints. Pain, swelling, can barely move.

Avatar f tn I have had moderate to severe RA for 5 years. Take Enbrel once a week and am supposed to take 5mg. injectible of methotrexate weekly. I had gone without the methotrexate for at least six months and have not noticed any difference at all. I am scared to death of the methotrexate. Can anyone explain why my doctor wants me to continue it if it does not seem to make a difference? I do great on the Enbrel by itself, but am sure there are reasons, I just don't understand!
Avatar n tn s Thyroiditis and started taking 5mcg synthroid per day. She also has JRA and is currently taking 2 ml of Embrel per week. She is 16 and very active; swims, plays soccer and runs track. She is complaining about her heart racing, not sleeping and hair loss. Is the heart racing part of getting the synthroid regulated? Would taking the meds in the morning help? Any diet or vitamin recommendations?
Avatar m tn My dad has been taking Enbrel for several yrs for psoriatic arthritis. I realize this is not the same condition as yours, but it has helped him tremendously!
Avatar n tn I have the exact same symptoms that you are describing. Is the soreness at the base of the throat like you have a pulled muscle or swallowed something that was to large for your throat and it becomes just plain sore. Having JRA you are at a greater risk for other auto-immune such as Thyroid. I'm not in the medical field but I do have a son with type 1 diabetes and after a year of that diagnoses he developed Hashimoto. I wish you luck on your journey.
Avatar n tn d like info on natural enbrel alternative.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Enbrel for 5 years. I am 57 years. In the last year I have developed a head tremor which is getting progressively worse.
Avatar f tn t mean to frighten Enbrel users. For many ppl Enbrel is a wonderful medication that causes no serious side effects and brings great benefits. There are many testimonies that support it's effectiveness. However with any drug, (even Aspirin) that doesn't apply to 100% of the ppl. No one should discontinue any medication without first consulting their physician. I am hopeful your Rheumatologist will listen to your concerns and address them.
422104 tn?1209763904 Anyone taking Enbrel? Got my first shipment today and want to wait for the weekend to inject in case of any side affects. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
