AROUND THREE YEARS AGO I WAS HAVING FLARE UPS AND MY DOCTOR ALSO ME ON ENBREL, WORKED VERY GOOD FOR THE RA BUT MY NOW MY THROAT IS ALWAYS SORE AND CONGESTED WITH PHELM. THIS YEAR I'VE SEEM NUMEROUS DOCTORS ENT, GENERAL ALERGIST AND EVEN HAD SINUS SURGERY FOR 30 GRAND, NOTHING FIXED THE THROAT PROBLEMS. I SEEM MY RA DOCTOR THE OTHER DAY AND ADVISED HIM I'M GOING TO GET OFF OF THE ENBREL AND SEE IF MY THROAT CONDITION IMPROVES. HE DID NOT THINK THAT WAS THE PROBLEM.
loss of consciousness and was sedated for 3 weeks. He then was in therapy for 3 months. He still has visual problems (sees double with left eye), feelings of dizziness and fogginess, and some paralysis of his right facial muscles. He had a few episodes of extreme dizziness years before the accident, but now he has it almost constantly. As I mentioned, he has tried several medications, chiropractic therapy, etc. and has had no relief from the neck pain or dizziness.
I am having the exact issue you describe, except I'm on Enbrel. Just started seeing an ENT specialist to try to get to the bottom of it. The Enbrel works for my RA when I can stay on it, but then I get sinus infection and have to go back off... it's a constant cycle. Constant headache behind my eyes and sinus congestion. I take Allegra D for sinus and Bultalbital (prescribed) for the headaches, but it barely takes the edge off. Been dealing with this for years...
m convinced that there is a correlation between these things and the Enbrel. Have any other Enbrel users been diagnosed with any of these inflammatory diseases? My gut feeling is that the Enbrel truly is the cause, but it has worked so well on my joints, I'm hesitant to try anything else. My Rheumatologist is going to argue with me about my hypothesis, but I know my body. Can anyone give some insight?

A new doctor has put me on it in conjunction with Enbrel because I have couple joints which have been causing me problems. Otherwise, I've been great on Enbrel. I am now in my 3rd week on MTX, and seveal joints are really flaring. I find this very depressing. The GI tract challenges, fatigue and foggy brain are a pain, but my arthritis now seems worse in general. Has anyone out there experienced this type of problem, and does it subside? I am about to abandon the MTX ship.
s comforting to hear that other took enbrel and started feeling better instead of getting other problems. Yes, txsilver, I realized that I'm taking one NSAID and one DMARD, and also a third drug to protect my stomach. I don't think those are working. Smittygirl, thank you. I've read your responses to other posts and they were helpful too. Did either of you suffer from any serious infection while taking the enbrel? If so, how bad was it? Did you have to stop enbrel for a while?
I felt very sick which traveled up my left arm into the side of my head and pain into the left temple into my eye which started twitching. The numbness has really never left except to say that it feels asleep and waking up. The eye twitching has gotten better but it's a twitching that circles the entire left eye.
My doctor ran tests echocardiogram, stress test, ultasound of the artieries in my neck. The echo showed a hole in betweeen the two chambers of my heart.
weird, never thought that enbrel would be a cause of hpv. I have developed hpv before starting on enbrel. what connection is there between the two?
I have been told to get off Enbrel for needed gallbladder surgery. My problem is that when I get off Enbrel, every joint in my body swells, turns red, hurts unbearably and locks up. I become completely bedridden and cannot get dressed or go to the bathroom without help. My blood tests show that, even with the Enbrel, my c reactives and other immune response numbers are very high. They tell me that they will give me prednisone to help with the reaction.
I have not had any kidney problems, he is just trying for me NOT to have problems associated with anti-inflammatories.
should I make appointment with infectious disease Dr from last year? This not being well and breathing problems have been 4 mths on and off now. No life for me . Headache still with me.
Dr mentioned drug resistant bacteria and it was hard to get well last time. Was on IV anti-biotics for several weeks then oral. I use enbrel for RA and have for 6 years. It is all that works for me. Have many drug allergies--sulfa morphine among them. Can't tolerate nsids.or methetrexate.
Several ground glass opacities in my right lung showed up on a CT scan in July 2011. Enbrel was discontinued and coincidentally I took a regime of prednisone for an allergy problem - 60 mg for one week, then with a weekly taper. A repeat CT scan was performed in December 2011 and one ground glass opacity remained (15 mm), with a small focus of sold component within the ground glass density. A percutaneous biopsy was performed to rule out bronchogenic carcinoma.
I started having a ton of problems with pain/swelling etc. in my knees when I was 8 years old. After a million tests they decided I had juvenile arthritis. Then as an adult they realized that it was ankylosing spondylitis. My sister and niece have been diagnosed with it as well.
I was doing real well on enbrel but then the insurance company decided I could no longer have 2 shots a week, it had to be one and since then my pain is far worse. I'm going to get a steroid shot today.
I have had moderate to severe RA for 5 years. Take Enbrel once a week and am supposed to take 5mg. injectible of methotrexate weekly. I had gone without the methotrexate for at least six months and have not noticed any difference at all. I am scared to death of the methotrexate. Can anyone explain why my doctor wants me to continue it if it does not seem to make a difference? I do great on the Enbrel by itself, but am sure there are reasons, I just don't understand!
My doctor wants to put me on Enbrel but i am nervious about it. All the reading i do about it suggests that the cure is worse then the disease and it seems that the risk of getting cancer, lupus or the like is extreamly high (higher then the other injectables). I am no stranger to biologics, my doctor had me on Raptiva (before they pulled it) and i loved it. Completly cleared me with no side effects and even kept me clear for 2 years after i stopped using it. But Enbrel scares me.
I have ankylosing spondylitis and I am on Enbrel. Last Feb. I had chest pain it felt like pleurosy. I have had it before, Cest xray normal so they treated me for reflux. it did not help so they ordered a stress test (family history).I had a heart cath. for abnormal stress test. Could not walk well, out of breath weak stutter and developed a tremor. The ER said it was vertigo and orthostatic hypotension because they could not find my blood pressure.
Hi, recently my mother was switched to enbrel, now she can get the medication at home. I will be injecting the medication weekly. I read on the instructions that you are supposed to aspirate and then supply the medication, this is to ensure that a vein or artery has not been hit. We are going to be using pre-filled syringes. Now, I am a bit worried because what if when aspirating I get blood in the syringe? Do I have to discard the medicine?
Hi I have been on Enbrel injections for over 4 years and i can't praise the drug enough fantastic results - i have the chance to visit family in Australia for 4 months when i retire in 18 months time the only obstacle is my medication and how would it work with my getting enbrel injections and it is a long flight - is there a solution around this problem
