Avatar m tn HIV test at 6-8 Weeks in Norway is Conclusiv.. and they use the Same Test in Denmark and Sweeden do you know what Antibodi test that is?.
Avatar m tn RNA test detects the HIV virus directly in the body. The time between HIV infection and RNA detection is 9-11 days. These tests, which are more costly and used less often than antibody tests But RNA (viral loads) can become not detectable in some (meaning not many) cases when the body finally fights back. But on the other hand PCR DNA tests are best used from 28 days on, but as early as 2 weeks, because these levels will not become undetectable over time.
Avatar f tn So if you had an elisa Hiv test,it would be looking for antibodies produced by the immune system for Hiv,same would apply to RA,the elisa would be searching for those antibodies that would be produced if someone had RA.From reading It was established that each Elisa is specific to what antibodies it is looking for, just the name Elisa is the same, that's all.
Avatar n tn The PCR HIV test usually returns in 5 to 7 days. We offer the HIV PCR DNA test along with the Standard Elisa HIV Test. The Standard Test usually returns the next day. This testing combo is the best and only way to detect early infection. PCR is so sensitive, that there is a possibility of false positive results. Indeterminate results are also possible. It is our policy that any positive tests will be repeated on a new blood draw sample at no additional cost to you.
Avatar n tn Yes, your tests would have detected HIV . You are NEGATIVE, end of story. Time to let it go.
Avatar f tn Hi I recently came across information that made me question the accuracy and validity of HIV testing. According to the information I came across HIV test don't test for HIV but rather for antibodies. My question is: if this is the case then how accurate really are these tests? E.g, if someone contracted a viral disease such as chickenpox (which lasts a lifetime in the body) during their childhood wouldnt that mar their results (including viral load testing)?
Avatar m tn Elisa at 9 months if worthless. if HIV infection is suspected, she should rather do a PCR RNA or a CD4/CD8 count. what was your WBC (white blood cell) count?
Avatar m tn if your test is third generation ELISA OR EIA which detects all hiv subtypes, then it is conclusive at or after 12 weeks. third generation elisa test not ony detects Ig G but also IgM which is the first antibody produced in response to antigen(hiv virus). after 6 weeks of infection more than 99% will test positive and at or after 12 weeks a third generation test would definintely exclude infection.
Avatar m tn I will advice you to do' Fourth Generation ELISA testing for HIV1/2' on 6 week after the exposure. Fourth generation ELISA for HIV1/HIV2 1) 4th generation ELISA is a DUO TEST (Antibody and Antigen Sandwich Test) .It actually looks for the P24 (protein) Antigen and Antibodies simultaneously. 2) P24 Antigen is almost always present in the body after acquiring the virus till the 4th week after infection and then it disappears .
Avatar f tn NO.You have your conclusive result--it's time to move on.
Avatar m tn Elisa antibody test or a rapid test. The results are 100% accurate at 12 weeks let alone a year or two.
Avatar f tn There are different HIV antibody tests. One test is the ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay). If the ELISA test is positive, a second test called a Western blot is done to confirm the result. The Western blot takes longer to perform and is more expensive than the ELISA test, but it is more precise.
Avatar m tn if you were infected with more than one strain of hiv Would an elisa test still be able to detect antibodies just as well? or would it make it difficult as the virus has joined together making antibodies undtectable to the tests used?
Avatar f tn Thank you my friend. Moreover, viral load test came back negative with no detected HIV virus.
Avatar m tn what type of test is a hiv 1 and hiv 2 antibody test? recently i had a test which is hiv1 and hiv2 antibody test , i went to the diagnostics centre at 10:30 am in the morning and my report got ready by 2:30 PM in the afternoon so the entire testing process took not more than 3-4 hrs so now my question is what type of test is it? is it a rapid antibody test or a conventional antibody test?
Avatar n tn No, that is wrong. You can be negative by PCR and still have HIV. Teak here will probably test negative on all HIV PCR tests, for example. That is why a negative PCR is not used to rule out HIV infection.
Avatar n tn I will go Jakarta if my villege no 3 generetion test. test shop paper print EIA (assxym). Is the test not the forum call elisa or is one old test long time no use already.
Avatar f tn my question is if a person been infected with the virus over a year and decides to test a year and half after would the test pick up or no because the body isnt fighting the virus?
Avatar f tn Does curcumim will affect to develop antibodies? because curcumin againts the hiv virus, so the virus will decrease and will take long more time to infection my body? I have swollen gland on my rear waist till now. I never got swollen gland before :( Sometime my feet and hand so easy to get tingling and numbess. I developed non-itch rash start from 3 week after exposure. and lasted a month. My last test at 7 week used HIV ag/ab combo came back negative.
Avatar m tn Dear doctor, I made mistake and I had sexual intercourse with prostitute 8 years ago and I'm not sure if I used condom (rather did). 3 years ago I got tested with negative result so 2 years ago I could donate blood. So the next test was also negative. I am little bit confused because I've found some article on the internet about some type of hiv virus. The article is here http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fcgi?artid=1392651. But I don't understand it well.
