So if you had an elisa Hiv test,it would be looking for antibodies produced by the immune system for Hiv,same would apply to RA,the elisa would be searching for those antibodies that would be produced if someone had RA.From reading It was established that each Elisa is specific to what antibodies it is looking for,just the name Elisa is the same,that's all.
What I am most worried about is that we had a son about a year and a half ago, even though both my wife and I have tested negative for HIV is there still a chance we are positive? When my wife found it she was pregnant they had her do an HIV test and it was negative. Before she gave birth they had her do another one and she was negative. I took one about 3 weeks ago and it was negative. Is there a possibility that there are not enough HIV antibodies in our blood after 7 years of exposure?

cmia reported to be positive in that report ELISA is negative. Respectively on 8 March, 30 March and 3 may go on a test center for HIV, the test is ELISA HIV1 2 (Ag AB), report the result is negative. I would like to ask the doctor I can exclude the?? and test center staff told me that CMIA inspection accuracy than ELISA high.

About a week or so ago I needed to get a medical check for work. When I got my results back, I was shocked to be told that the Elisa test came back as HIV reactive at 1.52. They tested it twice. I really have no idea what that number stands for, though.

Is the hiv elisa test{without the confirmatory test}the most reliable and accurate for detecting the hiv virus if you wait outside the 6 month window period?Is a second, third or fourth generation superior to a first generation elisa? Also why do blood banks use naat and other fancy tests to detect hiv? Do they do that to simply shorten the window period or would such fancy tests as naat, antigen, etc.
One of the experts here in this forum, Dr. Jose Gonzalez-Garcia, who is MD,MBBS,LMS,MRCP,MRCGP,PhD said that there can only be 2 ways to detect HIV during the window period:
1) PCR or NAT test, as early as 7 days post-possible exposure
2) HIV 1 and 2 antibodies + p24 antigen test (HIV DUO or HIV Combi test), as early as 28 days post-possible exposure.

There are NO Duo tests in the US. Period. A standard P24 test and ELISA tests are ran on two difference tests which with a Duo test they are ran together. Mass. tests are Not conclusive for a REAL exposure until 3 months. To correct you the 3 month window period was in April 2004 and is where it stands today. There are NO doctors that can change the window or testing guidelines. The guidelines are set by the Mfg of the tests and the FDA.
