So if you had an elisa Hiv test,it would be looking for antibodies produced by the immune system for Hiv,same would apply to RA,the elisa would be searching for those antibodies that would be produced if someone had RA.From reading It was established that each Elisa is specific to what antibodies it is looking for,just the name Elisa is the same,that's all.

The PCR HIV test usually returns in 5 to 7 days. We offer the HIV PCR DNA test along with the Standard Elisa HIV Test. The Standard Test usually returns the next day. This testing combo is the best and only way to detect early infection.
PCR is so sensitive, that there is a possibility of false positive results. Indeterminate results are also possible. It is our policy that any positive tests will be repeated on a new blood draw sample at no additional cost to you.

I recently came across information that made me question the accuracy and validity of HIV testing. According to the information I came across HIV test don't test for HIV but rather for antibodies.
My question is: if this is the case then how accurate really are these tests? E.g, if someone contracted a viral disease such as chickenpox (which lasts a lifetime in the body) during their childhood wouldnt that mar their results (including viral load testing)?

I asked 3 times and his post on web site declared himself ddf, I later found out he lied ,and was in fact recently Hiv positive and knew(No meds) . 4 days after encounter I had all the ARS symptoms: fever, extreme sore throat, swollen tonsils, and 4 weeks later a subtle ,non-itch rash on my head ,but only where i am hairless on top and shave. I am presented with painful, slightly enlarged collar nodes since wk 6+, nothing else.

What I am most worried about is that we had a son about a year and a half ago, even though both my wife and I have tested negative for HIV is there still a chance we are positive? When my wife found it she was pregnant they had her do an HIV test and it was negative. Before she gave birth they had her do another one and she was negative. I took one about 3 weeks ago and it was negative. Is there a possibility that there are not enough HIV antibodies in our blood after 7 years of exposure?
hello, i had protected sex with an hiv positive girl (i just discovered), i had sex with her twice, but she gave me several oral sex, i saw some blood on my penis in one of them, from her mouth i think.. i have no symptoms untill now, i did Elisa test 52 days after 1st time and 20 days after last time and today it´s been 2 months since 1st time (the day i saw the blood) and 1 month after our last time.

Regardless of my symptoms, can I 100% rule out HIV and move on? I plan on going back in April for my 6 month.

A negative Western blot test means the ELISA test was a false positive test. The Western blot test can also be unclear, in which case more testing is done.
Negative tests do not rule out HIV infection. There is a period of time (called the "window period") between HIV infection and the appearance of anti-HIV antibodies that can be measured. This period is 3 months from exposure. However, negative WB at 45 days is certainly very encouraging.
