Elisa test hiv antibodies

Common Questions and Answers about Elisa test hiv antibodies

elisa-test

Avatar f tn So if you had an elisa Hiv test,it would be looking for antibodies produced by the immune system for Hiv,same would apply to RA,the elisa would be searching for those antibodies that would be produced if someone had RA.From reading It was established that each Elisa is specific to what antibodies it is looking for, just the name Elisa is the same, that's all.
Avatar n tn 1) A Modern ELISA HIV test is extremely accurate. A NEGATIVE HIV test is CONCLUSIVE at 3 months. 2) A DUO test Antigen/Antibody assay is essentially two tests designed to detect recent infection (antigen) and antibody production (later). Keep in mind that HIV antigens are only detectable for about 3-4 weeks post -infection. By this time, antibodies are produced suppressing antigens but now these would be detected themselves. A completely reliable test when taken at the appropriate time.
Avatar m tn i have read somewhere that some persons never develop any antibodies in hiv elisa test even after window period.is it true?
Avatar m tn I will advice you to do' Fourth Generation ELISA testing for HIV1/2' on 6 week after the exposure. Fourth generation ELISA for HIV1/HIV2 1) 4th generation ELISA is a DUO TEST (Antibody and Antigen Sandwich Test) .It actually looks for the P24 (protein) Antigen and Antibodies simultaneously. 2) P24 Antigen is almost always present in the body after acquiring the virus till the 4th week after infection and then it disappears .
Avatar m tn Can HIV ANTIBODY TEST(ELISA<HIV ! & ANTIBODY) test after 6 months fi fully conclusive????? I hb done ELISA test aftr 6 mnths of exposure???? Can I be 100% confident tat I m HIV negetive as the test came back non reactive with ANTIBODY 0.020 OD........will I have to test aftr ! yr?
Avatar m tn if you were infected with more than one strain of hiv Would an elisa test still be able to detect antibodies just as well? or would it make it difficult as the virus has joined together making antibodies undtectable to the tests used?
Avatar m tn HIV test at 6-8 Weeks in Norway is Conclusiv.. and they use the Same Test in Denmark and Sweeden do you know what Antibodi test that is?.
Avatar m tn elisa test is an extremely accurate test. Its window period is 3 months after the last exposure. A negative result, which is given by taking this test 3 months after an exposure, is fully conclusive.
Avatar m tn with refer to no.1. it seems HIV antigen (for ELISA test) could withstand for long period after taken out from human body? In addition, may I know what should do and dont's before blood sampling for ELISA test for HIV? e.g. fasting, take medicine, smoking, sufficient sleep, no fever etc....
Avatar n tn I will go Jakarta if my villege no 3 generetion test. test shop paper print EIA (assxym). Is the test not the forum call elisa or is one old test long time no use already.
Avatar n tn is any other illness or sickness or infection can prevent my body to deliver detectable HIV antibodies, so the ELISA test came negative, my ELISA test for HELICOBACTER come out very high, the doctor said it is due to very longtime infection by HELICOBACTER, is HIV/ELISA test related to HELICOBACTER/ELISA test? are all people able to deliver detectable antibodies for HIV? and what is the max period that the body start delivering thoses antibodies?
Avatar m tn Basically this is my question: Can I take 2 Western Blot HIV tests and rely on them? The site where I get my HIV testing from doesn't have the Elisa test as an option. I know this test usually comes first. Instead I took 2 Western Blot tests for HIV and they were negative. Because I didn't take the Elisa, can I rely on the Western Blot results? I really need help...
Avatar n tn I am in California now. I did a hiv test in a clinic. It was HIV-1/2 antibodies screening assay. It is non-reactive. My question is: Is it kind of ELISA?? Because I didn't see "ELISA" in the result.
Avatar m tn What I am most worried about is that we had a son about a year and a half ago, even though both my wife and I have tested negative for HIV is there still a chance we are positive? When my wife found it she was pregnant they had her do an HIV test and it was negative. Before she gave birth they had her do another one and she was negative. I took one about 3 weeks ago and it was negative. Is there a possibility that there are not enough HIV antibodies in our blood after 7 years of exposure?
Avatar f tn I second this. An EIA or ELISA test is tremendously accurate.
Avatar f tn One of the experts here in this forum, Dr. Jose Gonzalez-Garcia, who is MD,MBBS,LMS,MRCP,MRCGP,PhD said that there can only be 2 ways to detect HIV during the window period: 1) PCR or NAT test, as early as 7 days post-possible exposure 2) HIV 1 and 2 antibodies + p24 antigen test (HIV DUO or HIV Combi test), as early as 28 days post-possible exposure. Avatar n tn Helo, all. I have posted here before. I hope someone will answer my question without making me feel like an idiot. I had, what is called, a low risk possible exposure in July - oral sex with a woman. I have tested negative elisa at 12 1/2 weeks. At six weeks, I had a PCR DNA and a PCR RNA both undetectable and elisa negative. Also, at 9 weeks, I had an elisa negative and a PCR RNA negative.
Avatar n tn ELISA will detect antibodies within few weeks. 3 months is the current guideline for conclusive negative result in most countries.
Avatar m tn The result was Non Reactive for the P24 and Antibodies for HIV1 and HIV2, As I said, the result was only Non Reactive without any number. is that mean they did the antibodies test by Rapid test not by Elisa, and do I need to do the Elisa?
