Avatar m tn why does DR HHH say the ELISA is good for CRFs then in some posts he questions the tests reliability of detection of antibodies associated with CRF's? I get that ELISA and EIA will detect all all subtypes to include CRF's, but is it reliable and conclusive at 12 weeks? I am focused on CRF01_AE. Does the military use ELISA or EIA?
Avatar m tn In short, DUO is a 4th generation ELISA and its effectiveness in detecting the antibodies is the same as that of 3rd generation ELISA tests and reliable approved rapid HIV tests, however its capability to detect early infection is due to its capability to detect P24 antigen which is usually high in early infection and then declines, once the antibodies become greater. Antibodies will then be detectable for the rest of life, except in EXCEPTIONALLY RARE circumstances.
1350500 tn?1277518068 Which test should I opt for confirmatory detection of antibodies for Hepatitis C, if the screening test (ELISA) for antibody IgG detection comes out to be positive?
Avatar m tn The next step is to have an HCVRNA/PCR blood test to ascertain whether or not there is active HepC infection and viral load or in some cases (approx 20%) the infection clears by the immune system and no further action is required.however she will always test positive for antbodies.
Avatar m tn You were protected until the condom failed. High or Low, a risk is a risk. If you test after 4 weeks the antigen part of the duo test would not be conclusive. As with any HIV test the only conclusive test is one taken 3 months post exposure. DUO tests cannot detect HIV 2 any earlier than a straight antibody test.
Avatar m tn Y u r nt replyin? plz reply and i will gain my peace of mind....
Avatar m tn Do I need a DUO test to be conclusively negative at 13 weeks? Is an ELISA at 13 weeks considered conclusive? Is the duo test better to have perfored? Should I be tested at 6 months?
Avatar m tn In the test result, it says the following: Interpretation for methid HIV 1/2 (CLIA) No Sign of HIV 1/2 Infection with IgG/AgM Elisa What is this test? Teak do u know it? Also, it mentions in the units : qualitative. What do they mean by qualitative?
Avatar m tn This will be the last response. An ELISA is a test format. There are several different "generations" of ELISA tests for HIV, the most recent being the 4th generation tests. ELISA tests test for antibodies, sometimes abbreviated as ab. The combo tests also test for HIV peptides (pieces of protein). All of this however is IRRELEVANT to you as you have no reason for concern at this time. You need to believe your tests. You did not get HIV from the exposure you described.
Avatar m tn Neither the Abbott RealTime nor the Roche COBAS AmpliPrep/COBAS TaqMan HIV-1 assay is intended to be used as a donor screening test for HIV-1 or as a diagnostic test to confirm the presence of HIV-1 infection.
Avatar f tn The DUO test is an HIV test that looks for antibodies for HIV and also looks for evidence of the p24 protein. It mostly used for early detection, after 4.5 months you need an Elisa test.
Avatar f tn Yes. The 3rd generation tests for antibodies only while the 4th generation tests for both antibodies and particles of the virus itself.
Avatar n tn all strains but not all groups The GS HIV Combo Ag/Ab EIA is an enzyme immunoassay kit for the simultaneous qualitative detection of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) p24 antigen and antibodies to HIV Type 1 (HIV-1 groups M and O) and HIV Type 2 (HIV-2) in human serum or plasma.
Avatar m tn Hello Doctors, Excuse my bad english. First, thank you very much for all what you are doing. I am a French guy established in Canada for a few months, 6 weeks and 2 days after a low risk sexual exposure, I remained very worried so I performed an HIV test "Elisa combo p24" that came back negative. I know that this result is conclusive according to your previous answers on this forum.
Avatar n tn If it is used to measure the viral burden, then the accuracy of detection is very high, so it can detect extremely small amounts of virus in the blood. Why then not use it for conclusive results? The conclusive timeframe for ELISA is 3 months, but before you seroconvert, the virus spreads quickly in your blood, so you are supposed to have large number of infected cells, so PCR should detect that easily!!?!?! Right!?!?!?
Avatar m tn s say per chance you were still in the period where you only igM antibodies but not yet igG antibodies, a 2nd generation test would come back negative? It wouldnt pick anything up at all? I've read its like a 2 week window between the 2...
Avatar m tn My problem now that I have a very intesresting job offer in KSA. in KSA the government just consider the antibodies test for workers and they do not recognize PCR result. My question is: Is there any treatment can be done to hide these antibodies in my blood? giving the infromation that the result of ELISA should be less than 1.
Avatar m tn is it elisa, combo(p24 antigen), pcr DNA ,pcr RNA, western blot..............please tell me the full name of the test which i will be telling the pathologist.........cost is not the concern....
Avatar m tn There are no tests reliable at 2.5 weeks and rapid tests are ELISA tests. All antibody tests are conclusive at 3 months post exposure.
Avatar n tn Ok. Thanks. I am still waiting for the result to get confirmation. If the condom is loose but the tip is covered, can the fluids still get in and cause any risk to contract any diseases. Please reply. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I was just wondering the average time for the IGg test to show up. I tested at 7.5 weeks HSV-1 positive and HSV-2 Negative. I know it says it can take up to 6 months but it also sounds like most people feel pretty good by a week 12 test? Is this a similar situation as with HIV where the extreme outliers (past 12 weeks to show positive) are generally those with compromised immune systems (chemo, other) or is something else driving this?
Avatar m tn A recent medical article stated that the Insti Rapid HIV test can detect the virus nearly 9 days earlier than the Western Blot laboratory test. Furthermore, the test performed rather well against other laboratory based HIV tests. This is due largely to Insti's ability to detect HIV gp41 antibodies, which are produced during early infection. With that said, how accurate is an Insti rapid test at 6.5 weeks after unprotected vaginal sex with a female of unknown status?
