Thank you for your response. I have been to the doctor twice and have been diagnosed with impatigo. I was first prescribed Mupirocin ointment but had to go back because the blisters were still forming and spreading to my hands and arms. The second time I was put on doxycycline. I'm only on day 2 of the doxycycline but hopefully it works.
Oesophagitis sure does occur with doxy.First drink water before taking the capsule.The problem is more to the caps getting stuck at the lower oesohageal junction rather than actual direct irritation of stomach.Dont lie down immedietly after taking the capsule.Try and see if symptoms persist,do see your doc.

I think you have mistaken the symptom of heart burn or acidity for chest pain or heart problem. Doxycycline does not cause any heart problems. But it is better to get evaluated for heart problems with a lipid profile, holter monitoring, tread mill test etc as you are suffering from type 2 diabetes, which is one of the risk factors for developing ischemic heart disease. Also, try taking antacids and bland diet to cope with the discomfort.
My 13 years old pomeranian has been diagnosed with kidney failure about 2 months ago. He also has diabetes for the last 3 years. I thought I got the hang of his kidney to make him feel comfortable, yet he developed very bad skin infection on his entire body, worst in groin area and back legs to the point where he would not want to walk much. The vet tried 4 different antibiotics ( amoxicillin, then rilexine then Zeniquin and last doxycycline) and none have cleared the infection.
From what I know about antibiotics, it is not ok to drink beer or any alcohol with Doxycycline. It diminishes the effectiveness of the drug and makes it harder to treat the infection. I believe the Pharmacist will add the warning to the lable. If you seek further assistance, please Google " Doxycyline and alcohol" this will give you a pretty good idea of mixing the two.
I read last nt that the antibiotic he is on, Doxycycline Hyclate has this happen a lot if you do not drink a lot of water with it AND sit upright for 30 min after, neither which he did the other night. I read that it irritates the esophagus when this haopens. I gave him Tums last night and he started taking Zantac today. He said that it is not burning as much but is just pretty bothersome when swallowing. Anyone know of anything else to do for this or how long this will last?

1 accorfing to my symptem, is that probably I got ( HSV1 2 or HPV warts, gonorrhea, chlamydia )orally?
2 If i was infected with any genital std, does it hurt my throat and respiratory tract area like the symptom i said?

I made a call to the doctor. My initial exam was the DRE with an enlarged prostate with warm feeling to touch along with tenderness. I was given 7-week treatment of Bactrim DS. I got sicker so went to the ER. My meds was changed to 3-week course of Doxycycline. Felt better towards end of third week.
Things got bad again about a week later. Went back to regular doctor for another DRE & the NP thinks the infection(prostatitis, but what kind please?) wasn't fully gone.
Near the end of September, I started a 14 day course of Doxycyclin (the specific brand name was Cyclidox). 100mg twice a day, with lots of water, an hour before meals, as instructed. During the course I experienced severe bloating, trapped gas, abdominal cramps, abdominal pain, and belching (burping). The probiotics I was taking didn't seem to make any difference.
Hello, I was tested positive with clymida and was given a 7 day course of doxycycline and I was retested a week after and came back negatice. My bf started his course of doxycycline the week i did my retest that came back negative, he finished his course of doxycycline 4 days ago. We haven't had intercourse but we did have oral sex today, would we be re-infected?
I was diagnosed with gonorrhea and received a shot (don't know which kind) on December 13th, started Doxycycline the next day, once a day for 7 days ending on the 20th. So that's 7 days after after receiving the shot. I had unprotected sex 4 days after finishing the pills, which is also 7 days after the shot. Is my partner at risk for gonorrhea? And do I need to be retested?
I went to a urologist and he prescribed me doxycycline and did a swab test and checked my prostate with an ultrasound machine (atleast that's what i think it was) and everything was normal. After a week i came back and the swab test was negative, but the doctor prescribed me doxycycline again for a week just in case. The symptoms disappeared, however after 1 or 2 weeks they started coming back and now, a month after, the discharge is white again and the urination is uncomfortable.

whether you swallow or not has nothing to do with your std risk.
the risk of a std from performing oral is very low in general. we don't recommend testing unless you develop any symptoms of which you've had none from the sounds of things.
Actually doc, the cultures came back negative but i was put on doxycycline (100mg) and cipro (500mg) BID for 7 days, and i felt almost 100% better the next day, save for the tickle when i urinate, perhaps still tender from the swabbing ?... my question is, should I be worried about HIV? I was diagnosed with prostatitis and read that an HIV infection is a risk factor, but what are my chances of contracting HIV considering my exposure.
