so with the doxy and the 3 advil, i would not want to take anything else. it is a weird/awkward procedure but it is not much worse than having a longer than usual exam/pap smear. you'll feel better if you are coherent and can understand what they are doing. they explain along the way and tell you what looks good/is normal as they go.

I made a call to the doctor. My initial exam was the DRE with an enlarged prostate with warm feeling to touch along with tenderness. I was given 7-week treatment of Bactrim DS. I got sicker so went to the ER. My meds was changed to 3-week course of Doxycycline. Felt better towards end of third week. Things got bad again about a week later. Went back to regular doctor for another DRE & the NP thinks the infection(prostatitis, but what kind please?) wasn't fully gone.

I began taking my Rebif shots without taking Advil in advance. Am I playing with fire?

advil is a minor anti inflammatory I have never heard of it prescribed for this before but it could help a little I suppose more widely prescribed for GM are some of the big anti inflammatories - particularly prednisone or methotrexate I did take Naproxen for some time, (months at a pretty high dose - it really attacks your stomach lining though so I went off), which I guess is a step up from advil, and is a non steroidal anti inflammatory (NSAID), can't say if it helped with the inflamma

Danie i agree with you!! I don't like Tylenol. It doesn't work for me at all. Advil does the job.

From what I know about antibiotics, it is not ok to drink beer or any alcohol with Doxycycline. It diminishes the effectiveness of the drug and makes it harder to treat the infection. I believe the Pharmacist will add the warning to the lable. If you seek further assistance, please Google " Doxycyline and alcohol" this will give you a pretty good idea of mixing the two.

The Bactrim took out the infection, while the Advil helped with the pain and the inflammation that brought on urinary symptoms. I tried Cipro and Levaquin in the past and they did not work. Your doc has to isolate the type of infection and then treat it. I would bet that Bactrim will work if the Cipro/Levaquin class of drugs do not.

Hello, I was tested positive with clymida and was given a 7 day course of doxycycline and I was retested a week after and came back negatice. My bf started his course of doxycycline the week i did my retest that came back negative, he finished his course of doxycycline 4 days ago. doxycycline is what they treat you with for lyme right? Odd thing but my gyno called me in that medicine for a common thing probaly yeast infection... i just talked to the recpetionist not the actual doctor because it was very minor she said. But anywho should i take it? I was diagnosed with gonorrhea and received a shot (don't know which kind) on December 13th, started Doxycycline the next day, once a day for 7 days ending on the 20th. I went to a urologist and he prescribed me doxycycline and did a swab test and checked my prostate with an ultrasound machine (atleast that's what i think it was) and everything was normal. After a week i came back and the swab test was negative, but the doctor prescribed me doxycycline again for a week just in case. whether you swallow or not has nothing to do with your std risk. the risk of a std from performing oral is very low in general. we don't recommend testing unless you develop any symptoms of which you've had none from the sounds of things.
