I have been taking doxycycline for 4 days. 2 tabs ( 100mg ) daily for 4 weeks. I'm dealing with all possible side effects this drug could cause. Is it going to get worse? Could anyone tell me their experience with this antibiotic?
So I've been on doxycycline capsules for 12 days being treatment for acne, I still have a dose of bout 1and a half months to use. However on the 12day which was yesterday I had unprotected sex with my partner and bout 4 hours later I used postinor 1(2 tabs) and 12 hours after used another dose again of postinor 1(2tabs also)
I'm kinda worried cuz I later got to find out that antibiotics affect the rate of effectiveness of oral contraceptives.
Symptoms disappeared but then reappeared 3 months later and I returned and tested positive again and was pescribed doxycycline 100mg tabs once a day for 7 days. After treatment my symptoms continued to persist and I worried that I was still not cured. One month later I returned and was tested again and prescribed 2 azithromycin 500 mg tablets. I got my results and turned up negative for Chlamydia even though I was still experiencing symptoms.
I contracted genital gonorrhea through unprotected oral sex with a partner and took a course of doxycycline (100mg twice per day for seven days). I received a injection in the buttock yesterday (though I'm not sure what antibiotic this was) and was also given a further course of the antibiotic azithromycin.
I got a rash on the back of my neck back in December. It got worse and spread. I was put different medications. The first med was Fluocinolone Acetonide Body Oil the end of December. It didn't work. The next script was for Doxycycline Monohydrate 100mg Tabs and Cetirizine 5mg Tablets for one month this was in January. That didn't work. Then they did a biopsy and said it was Eczema. I was told to use Triamcinolone 0.1% Ointment 454gm. This was end of January.
I visited the doctor next day and he asked for gram stain and culture tests and asked me to take doxycycline 2 tabs seven days. The reports as per him were normal, though I couldn't make out of it anything and advised me to continue the tablets for seven days.
The symptoms were gone and swelling also went but after few days again same problem started. This time more reddishness on penis without swelling and backpain, shoulder pain, abdomen pain and creamy discharge through penis.
I`ve heard so much about Stress Tabs and was wondering if they help ? If not what would help ?
Our 7 year old yellow lab Rocco was recently diagnosed in the last stage of renal failure just a couple weeks ago. I took Doxycycline for 10 days to treat a sinus infection. A week after finishing the Doxy I developed a sore throat and sore tongue. I'm assuming it is a reaction to the drug. How long will this stay in my system and is there anything I can take to alleviate the reaction?

Alcohol and the Effectiveness of Antibiotics
Alcohol does not effect the effectiveness of the majority of antibiotics. However, antibiotics within the tetracycline group, including doxycycline, are hindered by alcohol. If alcohol is consumed while taking a tetraycycline antibiotic, the antibiotic may prove to be less effective at treating the bacteria or virus. A longer course of the antibiotic would thus be required.
He asked me to use doxycycline 2 tabs a day for a week. The problem was over after that. Again after another week the problem reappeared.
Now the foreskin has become so tight that retracting it is quite painful. The reddishness is still there with white/creamy discharge. I am really worried what it can be and quite scared as well if it is treatable. Could you please comment.
All most i have same problems, i never had UTI but same symptoms.. I have used ciprofloxacin, DoxyCycline other related tabs.. no use.. pls suggest, if u come across.
This is what I did (i didnt have any sympthoms). To be extra safe, i then took 2 tabs of doxycycline for the proceeding 7 days (also kills STDs). This should clear most STDs with a very high percentage probability.
In terms of HIV, well obvioursly there is no cure for this but the chances of you catching this are very low. I actually took the girl I had sex with to the hospital to get checked- paid for the test and then paid her 500baht extra to come (thankfully all negative).
