Avatar m tn I've been diagnosed with Urethritis due to Staph Aureus. Doc prescribed Doxycycline for 10 days. I'm on day 7 and I still feel a mild burning sensation after urination, which goes away after one hour or so. I also feel here and there some feeling to pee more. But it's better than it was before the antibiotics. Would say 50% better. Anyway, should I still feel something after 7 days of antibiotics? I heard that urethritis takes some time to heal, about 1 to 2 weeks, is this correct?
Avatar f tn I took Sulfameth and Doxycycline for a week, and the skin in the area absolutely freaked out. The staph infection cleared, but I got this bumpy rash immediately adjacent to my vagina. I was concerned that it could be herpes because I had had sex with a new partner (we used condoms, but there was maybe a five minute period once when there wasn't a condom involved) about a month before the staph infection.
Avatar n tn They have stuck with the idea that this is a staph infection, even though the culture from my nose turned up staph but nothing drug-resistant, and presumably this should have been cleared up by the ointment. I've been washing both my hands and face with antibacterial soap this entire past month, and this month I refrained from taking any pain killers for my period just in case there was some allergic tie-in with the naproxen I've taken in the past.
Avatar n tn This was treated and cured ... I was prescribed steroids, doxycycline, cipro, and a salve. A biopsy was done, and was told that I had dermatitis and there was staph, but nothing more than normal. I started to have some pain when urinating, but was told that it was probably due to the steroids... nothing to worry about. Over the course of the year, the pain would come and go. I wouldn't really call it a burning sensation, but, whatever you call it, it was uncomfortable when urinating...
8221281 tn?1397570972 I was given shot of Clindamyacin, initial DX was clinic acquired Staph infection / possibly MRSA. I was on Clindamyacin for 10 days. The condition improved a lot in that time but was not completely gone when I completed the antibiotics. April 6th the condition not only spread but was a lot worse. the doctor cultured one of the older lesions by removing the scab and sending it to the lab. He gave me another shot of clindamyacin and then a 5 day course of Doxycycline and RX Muciporin.

Avatar m tn I thoughts Oh Crap, HPV or Herpes because about the same time I started to have burning while I urinated so I thought chlamydia, went to the doctor and he said he could not tell but put me on doxycycline (for chlamydia just in case) and acyclovir for herpes outbreak. The bumps stopped getting worse but I went ahead and finished the 10 days of anti-b's.
Avatar n tn Hello, I have had this redness around my nose that has gotten progressively worse over the past few weeks. At first I was applying a cortisone to it, and it would get better for a while (maybe 5 days or so). Then it came back and got worse. I went to a dermotologist who took a culture of it, I guess for staph possibility, but I haven't heard anything in a week so it must not have been staph.
Avatar m tn In most cases of folliculitis, the damaged follicles are then infected with the bacteria Staphylococcus (staph). Pls keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful. Also use Doxycycline that your doctor has prescribed for you since oral antibiotics are needed at this stage.
Avatar n tn I went to doctor today and he told me that one is pimple and other is staph (something in that nature), he told me that people are getting it everywhere, it's a skin disease. I asked him whether it's lymph node and he said it's not. He said that lymph node would be pea sized, the staph lump was bean sized. He said it was trying to fight infection and that's why I got that bump. He treated me with "Bactrim DS" and "Doxycycline Hyclate".
Avatar n tn The most they have been able to do is prescribe antibiotics (Doxycycline or Tetracycline) and topical creams (Benzoyl Peroxide 5%). It goes away with the antibiotics but it comes back once he finishes them shortly after. Sometimes it comes back within a few weeks to a few months. One doctor indicated that it may be related to a staph infection. However, they cant give us a name for what he has, how he "contracted" this, or how to keep it from coming back, etc.
Avatar n tn I recently had some bad staph infection in my axilla region. That's what my doc told me. Suddenly I had like many red pimples in both the axilary regions. Doc gave some antibiotics and the pimples went away in a week. But I still have some small swollen areas. Doc told me they were lymph nodes swollen because of the infection I had. So he prescribed me more antibiotics. My question is "Are swollen lymph nodes caused becuase of the folluclites I had? or is it something else?
Avatar n tn I forgot to mention I went to the doctor about 3 weeks ago, and he said it was just a form of acne, and prescribed Doxycycline, which didnt seem to help much.
2121656 tn?1395674749 I started Bactrim 3/12/ for staph infection caused from a sebaceous cyst that popped only in partial. The PCP Then switched to Doxycycline 100 mg. on 4/18, but was only able to take for 5 days, due to side effects. Therefore, my PCP switched me back to bactrim, on 4/23 until a repeated bacteria test result from a sebaceous cyst that he drained, showed negative for any WCB's or organism. Bactrim-3/12 Doxycycline 100 mgs.
Avatar f tn Hi I am a 28 yr old female, and I contracted a staph infection for the first time in July of 2009...and the culture tested positive for MRSA. It first appeared as a skin boil on my left cheek, that I thought was a vicious spider bite. Within 2 days my entire head swelled up 2 times it's original size, my eyes were literally little squinty lines on my swollen face. I was hospitalized for about a week. I was given Clindamyacin, Vancomyacin and someother antibiotic that started with a Z..
Avatar f tn She said it was tender when she would bump it and it did stick up. She had it removed and they found staph infection in it. It took a while to heal and turned out to be much bigger than it looked. She had a time with it keeping it open to drain. You may want to go to a dermatoligist to have a look at it. Even spider bites can get infected and cause problems, especially if you have already used topidal antibiotic and a prescription, and did not help.
Avatar m tn I went to the doctors and got prescribed doxycycline hyclate and sulfameth/tmp and was cured after 4 days more or less. Then I had sex with my girlfriend of over a year and the day after I had like 3 blisters, one day later y got like 5 tiny blisters. Could this be Herpes?
Avatar f tn I was kept overnight with the presence of strep and staph infection via cultures and blood. I was sent home after 2 days with a diagnosis of VRSA. I was sent home with doxycyclone and pain meds to take every 4 hours. I was told that if I don't see an improvement within 24 hours than I should be seen asap. I was seen again last night. I had a cat scan of my face. There were no abscesses noticed but small pockets of fluid.
Avatar f tn There is a certain antibiotic that is used to kill the Lyme bacteria which is doxycycline. The fact that this medication was not used, could have caused the Lyme disease. Swollen lymph nodes, joint pain and stiffness is a sign of Lyme and perhaps one of the co-infections that come along with it. I would suggest going to our association website ILADS.org and email them to ask them for an LLMD (Lyme literate doctor) closest to where you live.
