8221281 tn?1397570972 I was given shot of Clindamyacin, initial DX was clinic acquired Staph infection / possibly MRSA. I was on Clindamyacin for 10 days. The condition improved a lot in that time but was not completely gone when I completed the antibiotics. April 6th the condition not only spread but was a lot worse. the doctor cultured one of the older lesions by removing the scab and sending it to the lab. He gave me another shot of clindamyacin and then a 5 day course of Doxycycline and RX Muciporin.
Avatar m tn I've been diagnosed with Urethritis due to Staph Aureus. Doc prescribed Doxycycline for 10 days. I'm on day 7 and I still feel a mild burning sensation after urination, which goes away after one hour or so. I also feel here and there some feeling to pee more. But it's better than it was before the antibiotics. Would say 50% better. Anyway, should I still feel something after 7 days of antibiotics? I heard that urethritis takes some time to heal, about 1 to 2 weeks, is this correct?
Avatar f tn I took Sulfameth and Doxycycline for a week, and the skin in the area absolutely freaked out. The staph infection cleared, but I got this bumpy rash immediately adjacent to my vagina. I was concerned that it could be herpes because I had had sex with a new partner (we used condoms, but there was maybe a five minute period once when there wasn't a condom involved) about a month before the staph infection.
Avatar m tn I knew a couple, both of which stayed virgins until marriage, who went on their honeymoon, used a hot tub, and then battled staph infection for many months. So unfair.
Avatar n tn They have stuck with the idea that this is a staph infection, even though the culture from my nose turned up staph but nothing drug-resistant, and presumably this should have been cleared up by the ointment. I've been washing both my hands and face with antibacterial soap this entire past month, and this month I refrained from taking any pain killers for my period just in case there was some allergic tie-in with the naproxen I've taken in the past.
Avatar m tn Probably just looking for usual suspects like staph, strep etc. I've never seen chlamydia conjuctivitis in 12 years of practice - but I know it is possible. Present your concerns to new doctor. Good Luck.
Avatar n tn ll do some research, but, as for the staph... even though the rash that I had is gone, there could be residuals from that?
Avatar f tn I then did a test for syphilis, and i was positive, did a urine culture test, whcich showed a heavy presence of staph aureus.I took some shots of retarpene, and doxycycline, but still feeling unwell. Is my hiv negative test conclusive at four months?I still feel sick.Cos i'm so worried that i can't even sleep these days.
Avatar m tn Thanks a lot for your suggestion.I have already gone through its treatment. The problem is that everytime its different bacteria in the culture. At first, I was recommended the topical antiseptics but it didn't help. Later, I was prescribed for an oral antibiotic "Doxycycline", cause it also helps in reducing inflammation. After taking antibiotic, it remains dormant for some days but later it comes back again.
Avatar n tn Hello, I have had this redness around my nose that has gotten progressively worse over the past few weeks. At first I was applying a cortisone to it, and it would get better for a while (maybe 5 days or so). Then it came back and got worse. I went to a dermotologist who took a culture of it, I guess for staph possibility, but I haven't heard anything in a week so it must not have been staph.
Avatar m tn I thoughts Oh Crap, HPV or Herpes because about the same time I started to have burning while I urinated so I thought chlamydia, went to the doctor and he said he could not tell but put me on doxycycline (for chlamydia just in case) and acyclovir for herpes outbreak. The bumps stopped getting worse but I went ahead and finished the 10 days of anti-b's.
Avatar m tn The incision that was about 6 inches long when we started and is being closed slowly as it heals and I still have about an inch and a half left to close and wound vac is still attached. An infectious decease doctor suggested I take 100mg of doxycycline twice daily for life. I am hesitant on lifetime medications as I already take low dose aspirin, pravastatin for cholesterol, metoprorol, and coumadine after recovering from AFIB.
Avatar m tn I have been on this medication for at least 20 years with no problems. Since this rash has appeared on my legs, body and head and taking doxycycline for these concerns I have developed the pins and needles in hands and feet, joint pain and muscle cramps. As I said my GP carried out blood tests my level of vitemin b12 was ok and my thyroid test was ok ,all it said on the blood test form was "thyroid test" do they carry out all tests you need for underactive thyroid?
Avatar n tn Hello, I had protected vaginal sex and unprotected oral sex with a female (not SW). I am staright male. I got tested at five times throughout 10 weeks period. Results were six weeks negative, eight weeks "indetermediate" (I guess lab error, and it was oral test). Ever since then my life became living hell. Then, I got tested again at eight weeks one day and two days, both of them were negative.
Avatar n tn on his left cheek near the jaw, for about 2 years now. It basically looks like a cluster of whiteheads, very swollen, red, hot and painful. He has seen several dermatologists, however, none have been able to give this problem a name or a cure per se. It only afflicts that area. The most they have been able to do is prescribe antibiotics (Doxycycline or Tetracycline) and topical creams (Benzoyl Peroxide 5%).
Avatar n tn After a course of a higher antibiotic to cure the lesions, we normally shift to a mild antibiotic like doxycycline for a couple of weeks to treat a remnant infection (if any) and to prevent recurrence. This condition is acute and is not at all carcinogenic (cancerous). Only the lesions which remain unaffected by medication for a long time, need to be biopsied or removed surgically. This is an extremely rare condition. In your case, your condition is acute and there is nothing to worry.
2121656 tn?1395674749 I started Bactrim 3/12/ for staph infection caused from a sebaceous cyst that popped only in partial. The PCP Then switched to Doxycycline 100 mg. on 4/18, but was only able to take for 5 days, due to side effects. Therefore, my PCP switched me back to bactrim, on 4/23 until a repeated bacteria test result from a sebaceous cyst that he drained, showed negative for any WCB's or organism. Bactrim-3/12 Doxycycline 100 mgs.
Avatar n tn My face has been breaking out for about the past month or so. The bumps seem to just come and go almost daily as they please, also sometimes little dry looking spots on my face. Mostly small bumps on my face, sometimes growing a little big. Ive also noticed little bumps on my shoulders and arms, that seem to just be popping up randomly. Not sure if this is related, but I also have been experiencing nasal congestion, it seems like I have been picking my nose constantly.
Avatar f tn Hi I am a 28 yr old female, and I contracted a staph infection for the first time in July of 2009...and the culture tested positive for MRSA. It first appeared as a skin boil on my left cheek, that I thought was a vicious spider bite. Within 2 days my entire head swelled up 2 times it's original size, my eyes were literally little squinty lines on my swollen face. I was hospitalized for about a week. I was given Clindamyacin, Vancomyacin and someother antibiotic that started with a Z..
Avatar f tn Thanks for all your answers! I don't think it's staph because I was just on 10 days of doxycycline. Also, I'm not picking or scratching at the bump at all, I just leave it alone. The last time I tried any ointments was a couple weeks ago.
Avatar m tn i had been taking sulfameth trimeth for 2 weeks for staph infection and had a blood test result "HSV 2 IGG, HERPESELECT TYPE >5.00". Could the test be skewed by the medication I'm taking?
Avatar f tn The Hibiclens is a good idea for a topical cleanser and Doxycycline for 7 days is usually what is recommended, but they can also prescribe Oral Rifampin with the Doxy.. You can also get a topical ointment that fights against Staph called Mupirocin. Another good Oral antibiotic used a lot is Bactrim or Septra, SMZ-TMP. Im sure they did a sensitivity on the culture swab and ran it against all oral antibiotics to show any sensitivity resistance. If not then they need to do so ASAP.
