Avatar n tn I just developed a staph infections it's all over my body and it just looks like I have a bunch of pimple and bites every where. I got medication for it but I was wondering how long it takes while on the medication for the symptoms to start getting better? And also how contagious is it? Like is it alright to go to work and out places and what should I do to try and not spread it to other people?
Avatar f tn inserted a contaminated cather in me i feel that she knew about the staph and kept quiet im so confused
Avatar n tn A month ago I had a staph infection which the dermatologist treated and gave me doxycycline to combat it. 5 days with the medication I started getting headaches/pressure daily, starting from the back and then making it's way to behind the eyes where it would stay for ~2-4 hours. Before bedtime the pressure would die down/not prevent me from sleeping and when I would wake up the pressure wouldn't come back till 3-4 hours later.
Avatar m tn Wash clothes that have been exposed to the absces in hot soapy water. Change clothes often. Staph is easily spread and can spread easily. You can get a blood test for a complete blood count and immunoglobulins to see if there is anything amiss. Sometimes people shower so much they remove the long chain fatty acids from their skin and can be more easily infected. After this abscess clears up try every other day. It is a fine balance to keep very clean but also not over do it.
Avatar n tn Not MRSA, just regular staph infections. Anyone have any idea if the Hep could be causing the staph? We are setting him up with a hepatologist in the next week, but are curious about this now.
Avatar m tn The culture test showed that the staph was sensitive to cipro so my doctor said levox will cover it and it is actually stronger than cipro, is he right? Plus, how did this staph infection cause this discharge?
Avatar m tn Anyone can develop a Staph infection, although certain groups of people are at greater risk, including newborn infants, breastfeeding women, and people with chronic conditions such as diabetes, cancer, vascular disease, and lung disease. Injecting drug users, those with skin injuries or disorders, intravenous catheters, surgical incisions, and those with a weakened immune system all have an increased risk of developing Staph infections.
Avatar m tn Tested negative for TB, ebv, hiv, hep a,b,c. what do u think that i should do? I am getting side infections easily and worried to lose my job. Any idea?
Avatar n tn I was treated twice with Doxycycline (2 mos.) for the Lymes but the treatment did not work and the doctors suspected that I may not have Lupus but had Lymes the entire time. In July 2009, a year later, I was tested and the IGM Lymes test was again positive. The neurologist confirmed I have Lymes Disease but told me that it should have showed up on the IGG test and not the IGM test because of the length of time I have had Lymes. Now I have numerous questions. 1.
Avatar n tn But also regarding the Staph infections are these resistant Staph or do you know? You may want to see an infectious disease specialist and then they can refer you to an immunologist or even test you themselves. Staph is very easily transmitted and also you can easily reinfect yourself. You need to be sure to wash all clothing blankets, towels, anything that has been in contact with it in hot soapy water.
Avatar n tn The most they have been able to do is prescribe antibiotics (Doxycycline or Tetracycline) and topical creams (Benzoyl Peroxide 5%). It goes away with the antibiotics but it comes back once he finishes them shortly after. Sometimes it comes back within a few weeks to a few months. One doctor indicated that it may be related to a staph infection. However, they cant give us a name for what he has, how he "contracted" this, or how to keep it from coming back, etc.
Avatar n tn Not all cases respond though and oral doxycycline and oral flax and fish oil are often very helpful. I also like to use commercial lid scrubs like ocusoft original to start with and sometimes sterilid cream works great. There is one other thing - demodex follicularis - which are little mites in the eyelash follicles. They can cause terrible blepharitis in some people and the doctor needs to look for that.
Avatar n tn He gave me Clyndamicyn and it helped and it was 6 weeks ago. Yet the area is still pink and somewhat sensitive (not bad though) I never saw anything that looked like blisters etc etc. But when I would clean it there would yellow and green ****...Like the **** you get in the corner of your eyes when you wake up. He said there could be some scarring. Im TERRIFIED this will return and that he is not correct on his "observation" since he took no real sample or test.
1570504 tn?1295634828 Are you saying she keeps getting staph infections? I take it she's been to the Dr and has taken antibiotics? The best thing to do is keep the area as clean as you can. Staph is infectious so you have to be careful with anyone she comes into physical contact with. It seems that people who get one staph infection are prone to others for some reason.
Avatar n tn I went to doctor today and he told me that one is pimple and other is staph (something in that nature), he told me that people are getting it everywhere, it's a skin disease. I asked him whether it's lymph node and he said it's not. He said that lymph node would be pea sized, the staph lump was bean sized. He said it was trying to fight infection and that's why I got that bump. He treated me with "Bactrim DS" and "Doxycycline Hyclate".
Avatar m tn s not the end of the world, and MOST staph infections are easily treated with antibiotics. The media hype and scare about staph infections and the "superbug" stories really are overly dramatized. Even a "superbug" would respond to some kind of antibiotic, just not the more commonly used ones. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn I've been diagnosed with Urethritis due to Staph Aureus. Doc prescribed Doxycycline for 10 days. I'm on day 7 and I still feel a mild burning sensation after urination, which goes away after one hour or so. I also feel here and there some feeling to pee more. But it's better than it was before the antibiotics. Would say 50% better. Anyway, should I still feel something after 7 days of antibiotics? I heard that urethritis takes some time to heal, about 1 to 2 weeks, is this correct?
Avatar m tn You might want to see your dentist. A bad tooth can cause sinus infections - and a "silver" filling can cause Mercury poisoning.

Avatar m tn 2 weeks later i did a sputum test which showed I had klebsiella oxytoca infection as well as pseudonomas aeruginosa. They treated me with cetamadine iv for 7 days and 10 days of doxycycline (oral). The klebsiella was gone but pseudonomas remained. They then put in a pic line and gave me 3 daily doses of gentamyacin , and 10 days of zosyn . ( zosyn ran for 20 hrs per day and genta for 1hr) .
Avatar m tn Staph infections can be very difficult to treat. Staph bacteria can produce toxins and can cause various infections (wound, skin, toxins and if unlucky, septicemia/bacteremia). It may be killed by chlorine in the water but will not be killed on the skin especially if the bacteria is deeper and protected by the skin and tissue. The chlorine level may not be high enough to actually kill off the bacteria especially since some strains of Staph. auerus tend to be pretty tough.
