I also had blood tests (for HSV, HIV and syphilis), these also came back negative. I have taken a two week course of doxycycline and a week of metronidazole (not at the same time). My symptoms neither improved, nor subsided with these antibiotics. I am very anxious about both what is causing this symptoms and if I will be able to get rid of them. Not having a diagnosis is also very frustrating, as I don't know what can be done to move forward.

How affective is doxycycline 100mg when taken for a period of seven days to cure infections and std's present in the body alone with a shot a penicillin.

I took Doxycycline for 10 days to treat a sinus infection. A week after finishing the Doxy I developed a sore throat and sore tongue. I'm assuming it is a reaction to the drug. How long will this stay in my system and is there anything I can take to alleviate the reaction?

doxycycline is what they treat you with for lyme right? Odd thing but my gyno called me in that medicine for a common thing probaly yeast infection... i just talked to the recpetionist not the actual doctor because it was very minor she said. But anywho should i take it? I'm a 58 y/o female who had a left total knee replacement 15 months ago with a subsequent MRSA sepsis. I went for a tissue culture test and it shows that i am negative and that there is no bacterial infection. the doctor said it is normal. This has been one crazy day. Got a call this morning from the doctor office saying my fluids are low and I need to go to the hospital today for a non stress test and my induction will be next Tuesday May 5th. Get to the hospital having horrible contractions and progressing. Last check I was 4 1/2cm and these contractions are the devil right now!! Both tests came back negitive but was diagnosed with urethritis.( I had a second chlamydia and gonorreaha test done just to be sure). Was given 7days doxycycline but this had little effect. I also had a test for ureaplasma and mycoplasma genitalium. These too came back negative. Three weeks after taking the doxy I went back to clinic as was still experiencing symptoms. Another swab test confirmed urethritis had gone (<5 wbc).

I seem to be having a rash reaction to Doxycycline and have taken Benedryl...so far, no other symptoms after 10 hours. If I keep taking Doxy for the next 10 days, will my symptoms likely get worse or stay the same? With such a long half life, I'm likely to have this experience for several days anyway.

1) Would 5 days of doxycycline and on day 6 the 1.5 g zithromax cure chlamydia if present? 2) I used zithromax back in july for an ear infections. Would this build up resistance against chlamydia due to overuse of zithromax?
