Common Questions and Answers about Doxycycline gonorrhoea

Avatar m tn I tested NEGATIVE after this event for gonorrhoea and chlamydia (although I have now learnt that Chlamydia cannot be transmitted this way). My question below relates to Gonorrhoea ONLY. SITUATION: At the time of the exposure I was using Doxycycline tablets for acne on and off for a couple of months ( I have since discovered these treat STD infections ), I have not had doxycycline now for 5 months. This has caused worry about the integrity of my results.
Avatar m tn I have read extensively on here that chlamidyia is not passed on by receiving oral. And that gonorrhoea is very rarely passed this way too. If I had gonorrhoea would I have a discharge and would my symptoms get worse if left untreated? Would the cipro and doxycycline have protected me from gonorrhoea and chlamidyia anyway? Sorry for going over it but my head is a right mess.
Avatar m tn t say whether any tests were done to determine whether you had chlamydia or gonorrhoea. Chlamydia is sensitive to doxycycline and gonorrhoea partly so. Gonorrhoea is usually fully sensitive to ceftriaxone and chlamydia is not sensitive to it. It sounds in the end that you eventually had adequate treatment for both chlamydia and gonorrhoea and also in combination, NGU. The crappy feeling is likely from both the illness and the antibiotics.
Avatar m tn I have had Urethritis before but pretty sure it wasn’t through sex and I’ve never had Gonorrhoea. I have since been tested for Gonorrhoea, Chlamydia, Syphilis and Herpes, all negative. I have two question that can hopefully put my mind at ease: 1. If I did contract an STD my wife would never believe this story and neither would I if she told me this. I haven’t been tested for Urethritis so unsure what to do? 2.
Avatar m tn According to most websites tetracycline is part of the penicillin family and is also used gonorrhoea, syphilis and chlamydia. I just wanted to check this is true?
Avatar f tn Hi I was diagnosed with NGU on 10th September and treated with doxycycline for 7 days as suffered painful testicle and penile discharge. The nurse suspected chlamydia however test results showed negative for chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis and hiv. I had unprotected sex on 24th July and did not begin to experience symptoms until 1st September. The antiobiotics cleared the discharge in 10 days but I had to go to my doctor as the testicle pain remained.
Avatar f tn ve had multiple tests chlamydia, gonorrhoea, HIV and syphillis at 2 weeks/4weeks/6weeks and 10 weeks All came back negative. Two weeks ago I went back to the clinic and they did a swab which resulted in them finding some white blood cells.
Avatar m tn Also, Negative for Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Syphilis, HIV. I also took Doxycycline and then Azithromycin prior to getting negative results in case it was Chlamydia or Gonorrhoea, and Metronidazole in case of Trich. No discharge No tingling No sores No flu like symptoms No testicular pain I'm just wondering now if this could be simply a herpes symptom? I am hopefully going for a test today, i know it's 5 weeks but hoping for some indication. Thank you in advance for any advice.
Avatar m tn 11 days after exposure went to urgent care urinalysis showed white blood cells in urine sent it out for a cylamida and gonorrhoea test and treated me with penicillin and azithromycin also gave me cipro for poss uti. My urinalysis came back negative no explanation for my symptoms do you think my exposure was risky for any stds do you think my 2 neg tests were accurate.
Avatar m tn I then went to another doctor who told me that I definitely did not have gonorhea but I could still have chlamydia because sometimes chlamydia is not wiped out with azithromyacin. I am now on a 7 day course of doxycycline ( finished three days) . Symptoms seem to be improving but not 100 percent.
Avatar m tn Normally gonorrhoea presents with a profuse and horrible discharge in men and also the burning and pain on urination is severe. Having said this it is entirely possible you have gonorrhoea or chlamydia which to me would seem more likely since the discharge here is not as obvious and the dysuria is often not as painful. Both are completely and utterly curable. For chlamydia a single dose of azithromycin will do it and with gonorrhoea, a single dose of ceftriaxone (both are antibiotics).
Avatar m tn I had an unprotected encounter for about ten seconds with a girl. Five months later I’ve been diagnosed with epididymitis. I’ve had tests for chlamydia gonorrhoea And NgU, all negative but was given antibiotics anyway. Pain has gone since and it was low down, very tender on one testicle. What are the likelihood with no other symptoms that this was sti related?
Avatar f tn Three days later I got burning and constant urination. I started 100 mg doxycycline (big mistake) without taking any test. I then visited my go who put me on one week 250 my levofloxacin and pyridium. The pain did not go away. I visited. A urologist who conducted two rounds of blood and urine test- no infection. A week after doxy dosage I took a std test for gonorrhoea chlamydia and ureaplasma. All negative.
Avatar m tn 2) Would the doxy take care of most bacterial stds? DOXYCYCLINE WOULD ONLY BE EFFECTIVE AGAINST CHLAMYDIA, MYCOPLASMA AND UREAPLASMA; NOT AGAINST GONORRHOEA, GARDNERELLA OR TRICHOMONA. HOWEVER LESS LIKELY FOR YOU TO HAVE CONTRACTED THESE BEARING IN MIND THAT IT WAS A BLOW JOB AND YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS LIKE URETHRAL DISCHARGE OR PAIN. SYPHILIS WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THIS EITHER. 3) If I got gonorrhea with less sensitivity to doxy, would symptoms emerge when I quit the doxy?
Avatar f tn I had sex with my girlfriend within the time frame of me receiving oral and feeling the onset of symptoms I then went into a walk-in clinic where the physician diagnosed me with doxycycline for 7 days. I felt as if they were working and by the end of the 7 days felt normal. About 5 days later I felt the pain in my restocked, groin, lower abdomen and lower back return.
Avatar m tn t seem right so I was tested again but it came back all clear, they also tested for syphilis, gonorrhoea and HIV. All came back clear. Syphilis IgG/IgM by EIA Negative Hep B surface Ag (HBsAg) Negative Hep.C Ab ELISA (3rd Gen) Not detected HIV 1 & 2 ABS/P24 Ag screen Not detected Chlamydia Trachomatis DNA (PCR) Not detected N.
Avatar m tn I went to a GUM clinic where an infection was found to be present, and so I was tested for gonorrhoea, chlamydia, HIV and syphilis; I do not think I was tested for trichomoniasis. Anyway, the tests came back negative. Pending the results, the doctor had given me 7 days 2x100mg doxycycline which resolved symptoms quickly and I thought the infection was cleared. However, 5 days after the course was over, the white discharge returned.
Avatar f tn I went to the clinic, got diagnosed and prescribed doxycycline. After first treatment I tested negative for sti's including chlamydia, gonorrhoea. Since that time I have had a persistent clear discharge from my penis. I have been prescribed different antibiotics, azithromycin, erythromycin, ofloxacin and metronidazole. Additionally a few weeks ago I had a yellowish/greenish dishcharge with pain on urination which occurred whilst I was on oxfloxacin, and stopped after 2-3 days.
Avatar m tn Two and a half weeks after the activity I started to feel a dull ache in my right testicle tube, this persisted for about 2 days then I went to see my doctor and was subscribed doxycycline (7 days worth). After 4 days of doxy I felt no different the same dull ache/pain in my testicle tube.
Avatar f tn I have nothing has come back positive . No hiv , syphillis, gonorrhoea, chlamydia, ureaplasma, mycoplasma genitalium. No Uti. But my body has been taken over by something.
Avatar m tn At first I thought I had Chlamydia. The Chlamydia test turned out to be negative. I have also been tested for HIV, gonorrhoea and syphilis, all negative. My GP suggested UTI. I have had 1 week of Doxycycline which made my symptoms disappear completely. Unfortunately they came back after a bit less than 5 days. I started the Doxy treatment again, for 2 weeks now. Think improved after around 10 days. 3/4 days after the end of antibiotics, it came back. I took 1g single dose of Azithromycin.
Avatar m tn PLease bew aware I had same episode last year with same woman and had exactly the same issues, I know stupid, I should have learnt. I went to doctors who prescribed me 7 days doxycycline tablets which did not help. The problems over the next couple of weeks have persisted with new symptoms coming along. I have been getting burning sensations in neck, elbows, ankles and behind my knees a stiff tight feeling. The glands do not appear to be swollen.
