I've been taking doxycycline for acne on my back for a few weeks (50 mg twice daily). The doxycycline was prescribed for inflamed pimples on my back, which would be sore and red. Each individual pimple would go away on its own but I would generally have a couple new ones every week.
I had been having acid reflux before I started taking the doxycycline, and it seems to be worse now. Yesterday, I rolled over on my stomach while in bed and my esophagus was burned by acid.
I was on Doxy 100mg for about a month for antimalarial reasons, saw a slight improvement in my skin, and was then prescribed Doxy 50mg for acne indefinitely. I’ve been on this for about 3 weeks.
I have definitely noticed fewer pimples, but I still have the odd one here and there. I’ve also been using 10% Benzoyl Peroxide gel which I think has worked wonders.
I would like to go off Doxy 50mg to see if it is the Doxy or the Benzoyl which has helped my skin.
Apama for your timely and helpful suggestions. I did stop taking Doxycycline and will call my GP this afternoon for an alternative. In the mean time, I have continued with Benedryl at 25 mg every 4 hours and will now stretch this out to 6-8 hours through tomorrow; the rash has almost completely cleared up.
My 13-year-old daughter has just been placed on Doxycycline by a Dermatologist. She is displaying puffy eyes and tightness in her chest or possibly throat, she cannot localize it exactly. She has known allergies to Amoxicillin and Sulfa, can these be related.
I have been taking doxycycline hyclate for several weeks, would symptoms (e.g. sore tendons in the back of mu legs, momentary soreness in muscles, white filliform papilae) show up sooner (i.e. within 3-5 days) than the normal period? I have not had a fever, sore throat, or swollen lymph glands in my armpit or groin.

After I became aware of my risky behavior, 60 hours after the sexual contact I started to take doxycycline 2x100mg for 7 days. Now, 19 days after the contact (10 days after the doxy) I noticed two red spots with perhaps 3mm diameter at my penis just under my glans. They are reddish but the skin seems to be intact.
Do you think I have to worry about possible STDs, especially syphilis after what I described?
My Mother has had a skin issue going on for almost 2 years. She started with a rash on her hands and face, was given a high dose of erythromycin and became much worse after being out in the sun. She was taken off the antibiotics after going to Urgent Care and since then has visited her pcp, dermatologists, dermatopathologists (2) who took biopsies, rheumatologists, an endocrinologist and no one appears to know what is going on with her.
Ive been on doxycycline for 3 1/2 days, and the discharge has not gone away at all.. may have even worsened. My vagina hurts excruciatingly every time I pee. How long till the pain and discharge goes away?
I had sexual intercourse once with a girl back in Jan this year, however about a week later I was experiencing a dull pulling ache from the right side of my groin/testicle. ve read various reviews on using hydrocortisone cream for the face with people stating it thins out your skin and worsens acne symptoms. I feel the Clindamycin is acceptable, but I am wondering if it is safe to use the hydrocortisone cream or if I should substitute it with desonide OR just skip those two ointments altogether? I don't mind using Differin by itself if it comes down to it.
I have been taking Doxycycline for over 2 years. I am also on birth control Minastrin 24 Fe. Since I have taken the antibiotic for two years due to having Hidrentis Suppurtiva, will my birth control be as effective as it says it will be? Or will it be less effective? He drained it and puss started coming out. He took a wound culture for testing using a swab.And prescribed me doxycycline antibiotic. 5 days have passed and I still haven't taken the antibiotics because I want to know about my wound swab culture.so today I called the urgent Care and asked, they told me the culture was negative and there was no bacterial infection. My question is, should I still take the antibiotics?
After seeing a dermatologist he prescribed me Doxycycline for 1 month and an ointment made of Clindamycin 2%, HC 1% in 80% h20 and 20% isopropanol. This ointment took away the red spots before I even started the anti biotics but once I ran out, the spots came back again...
The vet prescribed doxycycline 100 mg twice a day for 3 weeks. My dog seems fine without any obvious symptoms. Can we just give him the doxycycline 100mg once a day instead because the medication may cause nausea/vomiting. Also after 3 weeks medication, how do you he is treated ? Any advice !
He also has diabetes for the last 3 years. I thought I got the hang of his kidney to make him feel comfortable, yet he developed very bad skin infection on his entire body, worst in groin area and back legs to the point where he would not want to walk much. The vet tried 4 different antibiotics ( amoxicillin, then rilexine then Zeniquin and last doxycycline) and none have cleared the infection. After the doxycycline in liquid form my dog has been vomiting constantly.
Just wondering if doxycycline worked for you. I am on doxy 100mg twice a day for 14 days. Still haven’t seen and marked improvement in my rash.

The dermatologist I spoke to said it wasn't out of the realm of possibility for skin bumps/warts to appear within 7 days, but as you and many other sources on the internet have stated, this does not occur.
It was vaginal intercourse, and I've been on the Doxycycline for at least 3 days now, so I would have expected it to clear anything up by now, which is why I scheduled the Urologist appointment.

He have me Doxycycline for the infection on my penis. He also gave me another antibiotic too for my intestinal infection. The next day I had bad diarrhea and a fever and just wasn't better so I went back to the ER and they did more blood work and decided that I in-fact for sure had an intestinal infection so he gave me Cipro for that. My penis healed up as far as my skin peeling back and sore tip on my pee hole.
