I have had walking pneumonia for 3 weeks. I took two Z packs and I'm 5 days into my Doxycycline and I still feel bad. I have no energy and my throat still hurts. I can't take Avelox or anything in that family because I am allergic to them. How long does it normally take to start feeling better on Doxy? Maybe I just haven't been taking it long enough? When do you think I'll start to feel normal again?
I have had mycoplasma pneumonia for almost 3 months now- complete with a rash that comes and goes, insane chest pain, body aches.. They finally diagnosed me two weeks ago and I took a Z pack and felt decent finally but only for a few days, Im getting worse once again and I'm SO over this. What ended up working for you??
what i want to know is can the axillary lymph node be linked to pneumonia because usually i hear it swells in the neck? i also was using doxycycline 100 mg and septra for chlamydia. its kinda strange how pneumonia just popped up a while after my chlamydia and cleared up. i am really freaking out im going for a test today. i had unprotected sex with a girl once we both cheated on our partners.

You have to treat Chlamydia pneumonia completely on CDC i have not found any treatment guidelines for Chlamydia pneumonia but you have to take combination of Antibiotics for at least up to 8 weeks to completely eradicate the bacteria..

I have been sick since mid November with acute brohnchitis. Here it is almost January and I am no better. Deep cough with greenish phlegm, chills, fatigue, body aches. No fever at all, and have been on doxycycline and levaquin, with a cough syrup at night. I'm having a lot of chest pain when breathing. Is this still brohncitis? The doctor said my lungs were clear, but I'm not so sure. I can feel myself breathing in and out mucous.

I was interested in the discussion about benign intracranial hypertension and doxycycline. I was put on doxy 2 years ago for my skin. I'm a distance runner and also an asthmatic and have a very high pain threshold and discomfort tolerance, but over time I noticed I was struggling more and more with various things - going up hill was a struggle and began to give me that same sensation you can get when flying.
And please stop using doxycycline, if it is triggering your allergic reactions. Consult your doctor for alternate antibiotics.

Had a chest x-ray that showed abnormalities so they did a CT scan of my chest. Suspected pneumonia with lymph nodes swollen in my chest and one in my upper abdominal area. Negative for nodularity. Was given 10 day course of Doxycycline. Was told to follow up because of lymph nodes. Differentials include Lymphoma, Sarcoid, and Lupus. Went to the follow up. The Dr consulted a well respected pulmonologist who said to wait as this could have been caused from infection for the pneumonia.
I got better for 2 days, then spiked a fever and got sick all over again with pneumonia (confirmed with chest xray). I was given a breathing treatment and put on doxycycline, which made me very sick to my stomach. I was switched to Omnicef and Symbicort and take Zofran as needed for nausea, and tolerate those fine. I've been on antibiotics since last Weds 10/28. I started feeling a little better and my fever went down on Fri.

It would probably be best to take your dog back to the vet for chest X-Rays to make sure that he is not developing pneumonia. Especially since your dog's cough has evolved from a dry cough to a productive cough with colored phlegm. He may need an additional antibiotic, cough medication, and additional diagnostics such as a culture and sensitivity or a transtracheal wash.

Problem started while I was taking minocycline for acne. Went in to student health. NP RXed 10 days doxycycline, 100 mg PO BID, sent me to ER. Had an ultrasound, confirmed it was epididymitis plus a hydrocele. They gave me a shot of ceftriaxone and told me to continue with the doxycycline.
Update on condition - yesterday dr heard rumble in lower left lung, I was devastated to hear that as I am such a worrier. She took blood and sputum sample and as I had doxycycline previously for original pneumonia she has given me a 3 day course of Zithromax to try and clear this infection by 'nipping it in the bud'. I am still getting chest pain which is central and have a wheeze in centre of chest which she says is inflammation of airways.

Ive been on doxycycline for 3 1/2 days, and the discharge has not gone away at all.. may have even worsened. My vagina hurts excruciatingly every time I pee. How long till the pain and discharge goes away?
Azithromycin did nothing and has failed every time I have taken it for mychoplasma. Doxycycline worked and has been the only antibiotic that has ever gotten rid of mychoplasma for me or anyone I know who has had it. Most people I know who have had mycho say that Azithromycin was like taking a placebo and they either had to take Doxy or Leviquin to get rid of it. Maybe Mycho is getting resistant to Azithromycin because it's so over prescribed???
The vet prescribed doxycycline 100 mg twice a day for 3 weeks. My dog seems fine without any obvious symptoms. Can we just give him the doxycycline 100mg once a day instead because the medication may cause nausea/vomiting. Also after 3 weeks medication, how do you he is treated ? Any advice !
Just wondering if doxycycline worked for you. I am on doxy 100mg twice a day for 14 days. Still haven’t seen and marked improvement in my rash.
