doxycycline and pneumonia

I have had walking pneumonia for 3 weeks. I took two Z packs and I'm 5 days into my Doxycycline and I still feel bad. I have no energy and my throat still hurts. I can't take Avelox or anything in that family because I am allergic to them. How long does it normally take to start feeling better on Doxy? Maybe I just haven't been taking it long enough? When do you think I'll start to feel normal again?

Ever since then, I have had chest pain, shortness of breath, fainting spells, weakness, back pain, a worseneing cough, low grade fever, chills, rash on my belly or chest, and nausea. The swollen lymph nodes have also returned. My doctor says I have bronchitis/walking pneumonia and put me on doxycycline on tuesday, but I am not feeling any better. I only have one day of antibiotics left.

i have been showing signs of pneumonia lately and also felt a small bum under my armpit but cannot see anything. what i want to know is can the axillary lymph node be linked to pneumonia because usually i hear it swells in the neck? i also was using doxycycline 100 mg and septra for chlamydia. its kinda strange how pneumonia just popped up a while after my chlamydia and cleared up. i am really freaking out im going for a test today.

I don't think the doxycycline is working either. I'm 5 days into it and still feel awful. I'm beginning to think I'm going to have this forever. I"m allergic to the family of drugs that include Leviquin and Avelox so I can't take anything else but Zithromax and Doxycycline. I still feel as crummy today as the day I started the Doxy.

With the passage of time and the sub-optimum response to antibiotics, your condition has now entered the realm of complicated pneumonia and, without effective therapy may just continue to get worse. Do not delay.

Hi , The problems you are having is due to Chlamydia pneumonia .. Google cnphelp.org you will find all your symptoms related to Chlamydia pneumonia .. i have also tested -ve for all STD except Chlamydia pneumonia which came out +ve i have weakness in legs , numbness in my fingers etc etc..

I have been sick since mid November with acute brohnchitis. Here it is almost January and I am no better. Deep cough with greenish phlegm, chills, fatigue, body aches. No fever at all, and have been on doxycycline and levaquin, with a cough syrup at night. I'm having a lot of chest pain when breathing. Is this still brohncitis? The doctor said my lungs were clear, but I'm not so sure. I can feel myself breathing in and out mucous.

I was given a breathing treatment and put on doxycycline, which made me very sick to my stomach. I was switched to Omnicef and Symbicort and take Zofran as needed for nausea, and tolerate those fine. I've been on antibiotics since last Weds 10/28. I started feeling a little better and my fever went down on Fri. Sunday night it started creeping up and remains up today (99.9 on tylenol). Azithromycin did nothing and has failed every time I have taken it for mychoplasma. Doxycycline worked and has been the only antibiotic that has ever gotten rid of mychoplasma for me or anyone I know who has had it. Most people I know who have had mycho say that Azithromycin was like taking a placebo and they either had to take Doxy or Leviquin to get rid of it. Maybe Mycho is getting resistant to Azithromycin because it's so over prescribed???

I have kept him away from other dogs to avoid getting them sick. The vet diagnosed him with kennel cough and put him on Doxycycline 100 mg - he takes 1 1/2 pills twice a day. He started them on Tuesday.He has also had a Bordetella vaccine. His cough seems to be getting worse instead of better. Doctors say that i m fit and fine but i know i am not alright and i found out that i had Chlamydia pneumonia .... And it gives symptoms like that and right now i am having Azithromycin & Doxycycline and my head feels so fine . I had mycoplasma pneumonia and was treated in hospital with iv antibiotics and oxygen after christmas til new year. Upon release I developed a post infection wheeze which was treated with 7 days of prednisolone. My O2 sats are 99 and blood pressure etc normal - x ray showed normal with no pneumonia.
