Avatar n tn Symptoms persisted for several days. Called dr. back. He called in a prescription for doxycycline for my husband and he started taking it. Never had any relief of symptoms. I started having redness, swelling, burning pain in my vagina and vulva. DR. did a vaginal swab culture. It came back with heavy growth of Gardnerella. STD tests negative for gonorrhea, chlamydia, trich, herpes, and HPV. Took one dose of metrogel.
Avatar f tn Then I had another vet recommend an eye swab for the kittens. It came back positive for D355 Mycoplasma. I then checked my other cats and they have it too. The adult cats are now all on Doxycycline but I was told there's nothing else I can treat the kittens with since they are so young. Now here is my problem... One vet told me that the Doxycycline will cure the Mycoplasma and everyone will be fine.
Avatar m tn I enjoyed 21 days Doxybene (Doxycycline monohydrate ) for Mycoplasma pneumoniae, I finished ATB 5.9.2011 and 7.9.2011 I go for HIV test. Can Doxycycline make a false positive HIV test?
Avatar f tn Andthey gave doxycycline course for 7 days by which my discharge get control but not stop fully and then I go to the clinic at that time they tested me for the mycoplasma genetalium and gave metronidazole plus doxycycline this time after taking the medicine my sysmtoms gone fully and my mycoplasma genetalium test results comes negative.
Avatar f tn My question is do you think it is possible this is mycoplasma and not chronic lyme? And if so exactly what test should I ask my doctor for to test for mycoplasma? My IgM Lyme test through Igenex showed 30+, 39, 41 IND. Thank you for your time and expertise.
Avatar f tn If this is not the usual bacterial infection, based on urine cultures that are clear, this could be a urethritis with an atypical organism like ureaplasma or mycoplasma. The best treatment for these usuaual organisms is cipro 500mg twice daily or doxycycline 100 mg twice daily. If that doesn't clear it up, this could be a structural problem and you need a pelvic exam and look into your urethra by a Urologist who can diagnose a urethral diverticulum or bladder problem.
Avatar m tn My recommendation is it wait a couple of weeks since taking your antibiotics, do not have sex with anyone, and then test for Ureaplasma, Mycoplasma and Trichomonas. And here's some copy/paste info for you: Tests are available through LabCorp, they are often not covered by insurance. Mycoplasma/Ureaplasma, Real-Time PCR http://www.labcorp.com/datasets/labcorp/html/chapter/mono/vm003300.htm Number 138778 CPT 87801 Trichomonas vaginalis, Nucleic Acid Amplification (NAA): http://www.
Avatar m tn He took a urethral swab to test for Chlamydia. Chlamydia came back negative, but came back positive for what he called Mycoplasma. I had never heard of it and I translated the Chinese on the lap report to mean ureaplasma urealyticum. I know very little about this disease and apparently so do other doctors. I asked the doctor about the redness which started to spread and he said to me that it was "an inside problem, not an outside problem".
Avatar m tn just received culture for uretha swab indicates AB resistant mycoplasma to all antibiotics (AB) except for one doctor has never heard of (myocline? ) He then gave me Cipro 500g 2x a day which is just barely keeping symptoms under control. Still peeing a lot and mild uretha pain. The new AB Starts with M is all I can remember I was so freaked out. The doctor said he needs to look up the AB and he'll call me on Monday?! I am freaked out. Suggestions?
Avatar m tn Are you certain that the test was for mycoplasma genitalium and not mycoplasma hominis? In the US, it is almost impossible to find a test for mycoplasma genitalium. The comments above from shaken assume that you are talking about m. genitalium. M. hominis is generally considered to be less consequential for you or your girlfriends health (although some doctors will treat it with antibiotics). If you are sure that it is m.
Avatar m tn I have tried single dose azithromycin and doxycycline 2x/day for 24 days with no improvement. My doctor recently prescribed me bactrim. I suspect that this may be caused by persistent ureaplasma and/or mycoplasma. Will the Bactrim treat this? If no should I test for ureaplasma/mycoplasma? What antibiotic should I take?
Avatar f tn There is one or more for viruses, one for lyme, one for mycoplasma infections, etc. There are other companies who sell similar products on the internet, but Chisolm is the originator and more potent and specific. Only a licensed professional can purchase the products from Chisolm-you cannot purchase them from the internet. They are expensive however-about $140 for 30 pills and they are kept in the freezer.
Avatar m tn About 1 1/2 years ago I had sex with a girl and within a few days I was experiencing burning during urination and oozed disharge when pushing out poo. Went to doc and was tested for Chlamydia/Gonorrhea, test came back negative. Doc said symptoms were possibly because of Ureaplasma/Mycoplasma. I believe it was Azithromycin he prescribed, and the symptons went away. Fast forward to today. I had sex with my girlfriend a week ago.
Avatar f tn I am not a doctor, but I read that for Mycoplasma and maybe other NSU, it seems like Moxifloxacin is a more efficient treatment. Maybe you should ask your Dr after it ? Good luck, hope we'll both get out of this very soon.
Avatar m tn Sorry should have checked for typos. Bloody phone. I was diagnosed with mycoplasma genitalium.
Avatar m tn I went to a urologist and they diagnosed me with prostatitis. Ive been on Doxycycline for 1 month and nothings truly got better. i have 2 more weeks on the medication. WHAT CAN I DO? also im skeptical on it being prostatitis. especially if antibiotics hasnt cleared this up. Should i try and do a semen anaylsis? and how do i go about getting my doctor to use a camera to look into my urethera. (if the discharge is being cause by herpes sores im assuming this could diagnose it.
Avatar m tn If cervical cultures for ureaplasma and mycoplasma are positive, both the patient and her sexual partner are usually treated with antibiotics such as doxycycline. As these bacteria may have been present for many years without causing any symptoms, the finding of ureaplasma and mycoplasma on cervical cultures does not in any way indicate infidelity or sexual misconduct.
Avatar n tn then the PCR test was done and results were positive for mycoplasma, so we did 3 weeks on doxycycline (cycle ended yesterday). some improvement, but now more sneezing and still some clear eye discharge. yesterday, our vet recommended 2-3 additional weeks on doxy, told me it could be allergies or just a stubborn mycoplasma infection. if 2-3 more weeks don't stop the symptoms, we could see an internist for a CAT scan and another test to look up the cat's nasal passages. any thoughts?
Avatar m tn There are three main casuses of non-chlamydial non-gonococcal urethritis. These are Ureaplasma, Mycoplasma, and Trichomonas. They are not tested for with the typical battery of STD tests in the US, though they are in some other countries. Tests are available through LabCorp, they are often not covered by insurance. Avatar m tn Many thanks TheLightSeeker! yes, actually it seems the mycoplasma problem has been a problem for a while. I've taken quite a few courses of antibiotics. I just wonder why my symptoms keep multiplying.
Avatar m tn The pain is mild and it come and go so not consistent. After finishing the antibiotic course the pain came back and I was prescribed doxycycline for 2 weeks. I made Echography and everything looked normal according to the urologist. The urologist said pain might remain for a while. Its now more than a month and I still feel pain. I read about Mycoplasma and it might be the reason in case of absence of chlamydia and gonorrhea.
Avatar m tn I spoke with the doctor and requested another urine culture for Mycoplasma Genitalium, Ureaplasma, and Trich. (I am still waiting for those cultures because of the holidays). That night I started feeling better. The burning pain was less and my urine color was much lighter. I thought I was on the road to recovery. Then on December 27, my symptoms came back and the pain was unbearable. I became really depressed and hopeless. I regretted what I did overseas.
