How affective is doxycycline 100mg when taken for a period of seven days to cure infections and std's present in the body alone with a shot a penicillin.
I was recently diagnosed with NGU and was prescribed doxycycline 100mg bid for 7 days. My physician said to abstain from sex until all the medication was gone. That is exactly what I did. I ended up having sex 4 to 5 hours after I took my last dose of doxycycline on day 7. Did I put my partner at risk by having sex so soon after treatment? Also, I took 13 out of the 14 pills. (I choked one of the pills back up and spit it out). Would that have an impact on the meds efficacy?

Doxycycline may help but there are other antibiotics used more commonly to treat trichomoniasis which include metronidazole mainly. Doxycycline 100 mg 2-3 times a day for 10-14 days is taken usually.

I had unprotected sex about 5 weeks ago and a couple of days later it burned while I urinated. I am a male. I took an std test for chlamydia and gonnorea and they both came back negative but the doctor gave diflucan thinking it might be a yeast infection. It worked for about a week and then the burning came back. The doctor then gave me doxycycline( 10 days 2 pills easch day) and said that this should work. It works a little but he said it might take a week and its been six days.
Dr, I have been taking Doxycycline for 1 week. Does this drug adversely effect the sperm, can it cause damage to a possible fetus. In other words does it hurt the sperm so if succesful conception does take place, will it be putting the child for any birth defects or abnormalities. I also take Xanax for stress.

Just to update you, as you know i was diagnosed with Nonchlamydial NGU and was prescribed with Azithromycin (single dose) and then Doxycycline (one week) after the azithromycin failed. Well, my treatment is now over for the Doxycycline and i still have symptoms of NGU which include scant perfectly clear discharge and perhaps a slight discomfort when urinating.
I was then prescribed doxycycline and ciprofloxacin, both for a 7 days, twice a day and told that i should feel a lot better.
By about the 16th or 17th day after this I noticed the same clear discharge as before but now a bit more copious with a slight white tint. I came home from work one day and there was definately a good amount of discharge...unlike before. I also am now experiencing burning during urination (nothing overwhelming, but definately new) and some pain in my testicles.
This is a rare problem but the more research I do on the internet the more forums and support groups I see with men experiencing this issue with NO answers, regardless of how many urologists and dermatologists they've seen.
About 3 months ago I had unprotected anal, vaginal, and oral sex with a female. She is clean. A week later some sort of infection occurred in my urethra. Burned terribly when I urinated and head of my penis got extremely red and inflamed.

I am 50 yr old male in a monogamous hetero relationship for over 2 decades. Only one time did I stray, september 07 I received oral sex to completion from another male I did not know. Stupid thing to do but it happened. I had no symptoms other than pure fear and paranoia. november 07 I had my annual physical. bloodwork was good, urine was good, all ok except doc said I had a slightly enlarged prostate and referred me to a urologist.
The pain started out extremely severe, then I was started on doxycycline for about 1 1/2 weeks, and the pain went away for the most part. About 3 days later the pain came back, and I once again took more doxycycline. The pain went away completely for about 2-3 weeks until i obtained this annoying infection once again. I now am taking doxycycline twice a day for 21 days. I have taken about half of my medication so far...
The vet prescribed doxycycline 100 mg twice a day for 3 weeks. My dog seems fine without any obvious symptoms. Can we just give him the doxycycline 100mg once a day instead because the medication may cause nausea/vomiting. Also after 3 weeks medication, how do you he is treated ? Any advice !
Just wondering if doxycycline worked for you. I am on doxy 100mg twice a day for 14 days. Still haven’t seen and marked improvement in my rash.
A few days later I noticed nothing was improving so I went back and got prescribed Cefixime and doxycycline 100mg for 7 days in hopes of improvement as it worked for me the last time in hopes that the testicles/possible Epididymitis would improve. On the second last day of doxycycline this time around I felt sharp spermadic cord pulses with testicle movement which subsided the last day of antibiotics and once the antibiotics were finished.

I am a week into a antibiotics prescription (doxycycline). I am still experiencing symptoms on and off. I am a very active person and have been holding off and excercise for about a week now. I would really like to excercise but my recovery is a priority. Will excercise delay or prevent recovery?
