I have pus coming out of a meibomian gland opening and a bit of the tarsal conjunctiva in my upper eyelid near the nasal side for almost a week now. I guess it must be an infection but I also have a chalazion-like lump at the same site of the infection.
Ive been on doxycycline for 3 1/2 days, and the discharge has not gone away at all.. may have even worsened. My vagina hurts excruciatingly every time I pee. How long till the pain and discharge goes away?
The vet prescribed doxycycline 100 mg twice a day for 3 weeks. My dog seems fine without any obvious symptoms. Can we just give him the doxycycline 100mg once a day instead because the medication may cause nausea/vomiting. Also after 3 weeks medication, how do you he is treated ? Any advice !

thanks for your reply! I think doxycycline might be the right move. I am going to mention to my opthomologist in a couple weeks. Do people tend to eventually get over this type of stuff? From reading on the internet, I am very discouraged. Is it uncommon that my lower lids are not effect at all? I dont have much dry eye, but I notice as the day wears on my vision becomes a bit blurry. what could this suggest?

I've been taking doxycycline for acne on my back for a few weeks (50 mg twice daily). The doxycycline was prescribed for inflamed pimples on my back, which would be sore and red. Each individual pimple would go away on its own but I would generally have a couple new ones every week.
I had been having acid reflux before I started taking the doxycycline, and it seems to be worse now. Yesterday, I rolled over on my stomach while in bed and my esophagus was burned by acid.

Two weeks later a large infected rash appeared. I got myself tested for Lyme and it came out negative. I was given a day of Doxycycline and then it was changed to Amoxicillan. I took it for two weeks. The doctor told me to stop the medication and get retested. Two weeks later, I got my positive results. I had, at this point, two weeks on, two weeks off the antibiotics. When I returned to the doctor with positive results, he put me back on Doxycycline for another two weeks.
April 6th I went to my gyn told them my situation and was retested. Of course it came back positive my dr gave me more doxycycline for 2 weeks. Not letting me know that I will test positive for some time. I couldn't deal with the doxycycline anymore so I returned to the health department where I was first tested and asked for the penicillin shot because at this point I didn't care about a slight reaction(my gyn and primary provider refused).

Even a single dose of doxycycline could convert an infection to asymptomatic or make a test false negative, at least for a while. I would wait for 4-5 days after your doxycycline to get tested unless symptoms develop. Should symptoms develop, testing at that time should be accurate.

What is the safe dose of vitamin A that I can take while on Doxycycline? I am currently taking 10,000 IUs (3000mcg) of vitamin A for my dry eyes. It helps with my lack of tear production situation.

2 weeks ago, I was given one dose of 1g azithromycin that helped (pain when urinating gone). Last week, since they also found chlamydia in my anus, I was again prescribed doxycycline (2x100g) for 7 days. However, the clinic made a mistake and only gave me 12 (instead of 14) 100g tablets that make my treatment will only lasts 6 days. The thing is I really can't pick up the extra tablets as the clinic is out of town and I am working full time and going abroad in 2 days.
I was on Doxy 100mg for about a month for antimalarial reasons, saw a slight improvement in my skin, and was then prescribed Doxy 50mg for acne indefinitely. I’ve been on this for about 3 weeks.
I have definitely noticed fewer pimples, but I still have the odd one here and there. I’ve also been using 10% Benzoyl Peroxide gel which I think has worked wonders.
I would like to go off Doxy 50mg to see if it is the Doxy or the Benzoyl which has helped my skin.
