Everyone goes through it during pregnancy. It's common for a pregnant woman to have sensitive teeth, a bleeding gums when brushing their teeth.

They gave me a full teeth wash and remove my molar and they gave me a prescription for it. They gave me a pill that i have to take twice each day (i think 12hr each one) for a week. After taking the pills, I still had red gums. I gave them a call and they said that they cant give me more medication because those pills was strong enough to heal it. What should I do now?

I would say as a dental hygienist at least 90% of my patient have some for of gingivitis or periodontal disease. Gingivitis is classified as any inflammation of the gingiva (gums) redness, bleeding, swollen margins, with little or no bone loss. Gingivitis can be reversed with proper home care and yes by home care I mean flossing. I can not begin to stress enough how important flossing is and how rarely it is done by patients.

You do have gingivitis. You need to go to your dentist for a good cleaning to start with. Then pay careful attention to how thoroughly you actually brush this area. You may gain some gum tissue back, if not, a skin graft can be done to secure the tooth with the recessed gum. I take one of those rubber gum stimulator tools, dip the end in a 1 parts hydrogen peroxide 1 parts water solution and run it along my gumline throughout my whole mouth once a day.

Does anyone know what symptoms of HIV Gingivitis are and would this come on within the 1st few weeks of infection. My gum at far top right of mouth hurts to press and open jaw. It doesnt bleed. My antibody / antigen test was neg @ 35 days.

Hello Doctor I have been having painful gums for couple of nights now when i brush my teeth and i really go hard on them thinking it could make it better but i just read somewhere its bad to go hard on your gums while brushing. They tend to bleed too. I was just wondering if it could be gingivitis. I'm also suffering from bad breath for a year now. I'm planning on seeing a dentist in 2 weeks. This is the earliest appointment i could get. Any thoughts on this?

Oral sex is not a risk for HIV. Only unprotected anal or vaginal sex and sharing drug needles leads to infection in adults. Gingivitis is extremely common the older you get which is why you need to take much better care of your teeth and gums by brushing and flossing 2x a day minimum.

i know that new studies have found pregnant women are more likely to deliver preterm if they have gingivitis...although i dont have dental insurance. can gingivitis go away on its own if its reallly minor? i know normally your supposed to get antibiotics for it but i am trying to floss everyday and use a good mouthwash....do you think this will help?

Ive been on doxycycline for 3 1/2 days, and the discharge has not gone away at all.. may have even worsened. My vagina hurts excruciatingly every time I pee. How long till the pain and discharge goes away?

You are right when you say gingivitis and diabetes are related, but just because you have diabetes does not mean your gingivitis stems from it. most adults have gingivitis, which is a mild inflammation of the gum tissue. It should be able to be addressed within the parameters of your $1000 maximum. treatment is not that involved.

I think the recommendations are for regular cleaning without regard to relapse - unless you can't lie in the chair. Hi, It sounds as though you are developing gingivitis. What you see may not be gum but plaque that has built up under the gum and extending upwards pushing the gum away from the tooth surface. You HAVE to get to a dentist. The area around your gumline has to be cleaned. Only a dentist can get down deep enough to remove heavy plaque build up. Gum must have bone under it to grow so I don't think it's gum your seeing but the result of plaque displacing the gum itself.

You should go to the dentist and get it checked out. You may have some gingivitis although I'm worried about the gums peeling off. Is it extremely painful?

you probably have Gingivitis it is inflammation of the gums (gingiva).

The vet prescribed doxycycline 100 mg twice a day for 3 weeks. My dog seems fine without any obvious symptoms. Can we just give him the doxycycline 100mg once a day instead because the medication may cause nausea/vomiting. Also after 3 weeks medication, how do you he is treated ? Any advice !

Hi, It sounds as though you have developed a nasty case of gingivitis. You'll need a professionals help. Please make an appt with your dentist for a full evaluation. Don't put this off! Gingivitis can turn to periodontal disease in the blink of an eye. You don't want to let it get that far. PLEASE make an appt sooner rather than later. Your dental health depends on it. Just wondering if doxycycline worked for you. I am on doxy 100mg twice a day for 14 days. Still haven’t seen and marked improvement in my rash.
