I was on Doxy 100mg for about a month for antimalarial reasons, saw a slight improvement in my skin, and was then prescribed Doxy 50mg for acne indefinitely. I’ve been on this for about 3 weeks.
I have definitely noticed fewer pimples, but I still have the odd one here and there. I’ve also been using 10% Benzoyl Peroxide gel which I think has worked wonders.
I would like to go off Doxy 50mg to see if it is the Doxy or the Benzoyl which has helped my skin.
If you have visited a malaria-risk area, continue taking your antimalarial drug for 4 weeks (doxycycline or mefloquine) or seven days (atovaquone/proguanil) after leaving the risk area.
With regards to these medications interacting with your Tamoxifen, I can only tell you that there isn't a reaction listed between Tamoxifen and Mefloquin ( for anti- malaria). I would suggest you contact your oncologist with this list and ask him or her to discuss this with you.
Is it OK if I have a few beers while I'm taking Doxycycline 100mg twice a day? I'm not getting wasted or anything, I just want to have a few with the guys this Friday.

In areas where doxycycline and mefloquine are equally effacious in preventing malaria, doxycycline is the drug of choice. Mefloquine should only be used for personnel with contraindications to doxycycline and do not have any contraindications to the use of mefloquine . . . . Mefloquine should not be given to soldiers with recent history of traumatic brain injury (TBI) or have symptomatic TBI. Malarone would be the treatment of choice for these soldiers who cannot take doxycycline or mefloquine.
Apparently I am on the down hill side of the infection already but he gave me some ointment and insisted that i start taking my doxycycline again (we use it for anti malaria purposes but most of us stop taking it due to the vivid dreams it seems to cause). I recently took doxycycline hcl 100mg for 7days twice a day. A week after I was done with treatment I had the worst heartburn and abdominal pain in my life. The pain so strong that it woke my up in the middle of the night. The pain has been in my upper abdomen around where my ribs begin to join, and I had also some lower abdominal pain. Weirdly enough the onset took place after having a calzone and pizza.

I took Doxycycline for 10 days to treat a sinus infection. A week after finishing the Doxy I developed a sore throat and sore tongue. I'm assuming it is a reaction to the drug. How long will this stay in my system and is there anything I can take to alleviate the reaction?
I have been using doxycycline, I have had trouble urinating still I had oral sex about 3 months ago. First my penis was going numb and then it went away.
I've been taking doxycycline for acne on my back for a few weeks (50 mg twice daily). The doxycycline was prescribed for inflamed pimples on my back, which would be sore and red. Each individual pimple would go away on its own but I would generally have a couple new ones every week.
I had been having acid reflux before I started taking the doxycycline, and it seems to be worse now. Yesterday, I rolled over on my stomach while in bed and my esophagus was burned by acid.
But the insomnia was miserable so I called my doctor to ask if there was anything I could do for the side effects, so he switched me to 3 wks of doxycycline, which I started taking immediately. Now I sleep OK but after two days the symptoms are back in full force. I'm wondering if I made a mistake in switching. Have others had similar experiences? Is doxy just slower to take effect?
Two weeks later a large infected rash appeared. I got myself tested for Lyme and it came out negative. I was given a day of Doxycycline and then it was changed to Amoxicillan. I took it for two weeks. The doctor told me to stop the medication and get retested. Two weeks later, I got my positive results. I had, at this point, two weeks on, two weeks off the antibiotics. When I returned to the doctor with positive results, he put me back on Doxycycline for another two weeks.
April 6th I went to my gyn told them my situation and was retested. Of course it came back positive my dr gave me more doxycycline for 2 weeks. Not letting me know that I will test positive for some time. I couldn't deal with the doxycycline anymore so I returned to the health department where I was first tested and asked for the penicillin shot because at this point I didn't care about a slight reaction(my gyn and primary provider refused).
m allergic to Penicillin and Sulfa, I just finished taking Doxycycline for a week and feel better. Thanks for the information.
