After my negative urinalysis test, I started self-medicating myself on Doxycycline at a 100mg per day. This is the 4th day on Doxycycline.
About 4 months go I began having bouts of severe constipation that last between 7 and 10 days. I have had xrays and a CT done and they say everything is fine. The only thing that happened prior to these bouts of constipation is that I got a severe infection following a tetanus shot. It was so bad I could not move my arm. The doctors prescribed me 10 days (2 100 Mg pills a day) of doxycycline. I was only able to take 9 days because at this point I could not keep food down.
How affective is doxycycline 100mg when taken for a period of seven days to cure infections and std's present in the body alone with a shot a penicillin.
where did the pills come from?
I took Doxycycline for 10 days to treat a sinus infection. A week after finishing the Doxy I developed a sore throat and sore tongue. I'm assuming it is a reaction to the drug. How long will this stay in my system and is there anything I can take to alleviate the reaction?
I have been on doxycycline an antibiotic for about 5 days and i seem to be feeling very anxious and panic like. Does anyone know if this can cause these symptoms. I am also on 25mg of zoloft. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I took a single 2g dose of azithromycin. Additionally, I have SIBO and constipation predominant IBS. The azithromycin helped with the chlamydia symptoms as well as the IBS symptoms, significantly alleviating my bloating. I am facing swollen meatus with irritation feeling while peeing which does not go away since 7 months. Other symptoms are headache, constipation and pain in my balls while biking. I was already tested positive years ago for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea and Syphilis which have all been treated.
However, I have had unprotected sex 7 months ago and since then I have all the symptoms mentioned above.
I seem to be having a rash reaction to Doxycycline and have taken Benedryl...so far, no other symptoms after 10 hours. If I keep taking Doxy for the next 10 days, will my symptoms likely get worse or stay the same? With such a long half life, I'm likely to have this experience for several days anyway.
1) Would 5 days of doxycycline and on day 6 the 1.5 g zithromax cure chlamydia if present?
2) I used zithromax back in july for an ear infections. Would this build up resistance against chlamydia due to overuse of zithromax?
I was recently diagnosed with NGU and was prescribed doxycycline 100mg bid for 7 days. My physician said to abstain from sex until all the medication was gone. That is exactly what I did. I ended up having sex 4 to 5 hours after I took my last dose of doxycycline on day 7. Did I put my partner at risk by having sex so soon after treatment? Also, I took 13 out of the 14 pills. (I choked one of the pills back up and spit it out). Would that have an impact on the meds efficacy?
I am visiting Laos/Thailand in Jan 2011 and I have been advised to take anti-malaria tablets while there called Doxycycline.
Does anyone know if there is any interaction between these two drugs? Can it make one or the other not work as effectively?

Ive just been prescribed doxycycline to cure my chlamydia (i hope finally) and i know i have to take it for seven days and refrain from sex. But after the seven days, am i ok to have sex again with my partner?? do we need to wear a condom?? or will it be cured?
The tetracyclines, including doxycycline and minocycline, are bacteriostatic unless given in high doses. If high blood levels are not attained, treatment failures in early and late disease are common. However, these high doses can be difficult to tolerate. For example, doxycycline can be very effective but only if adequate blood levels are achieved either by high oral doses (300 to 600 mg daily) or by parenteral (IV) administration.
6 months ago I had a tetanus shot and I developed a bad infection that left half my arm paralyzed. The doctor prescribed me doxycycline for 10 days. My arm healed but by day 10 I could not keep food down. Ever since then I can go 20 days without a bowel movement. Prior to this I had a bowel movement 3 times per day. I am an avid runner and only consume organic unprocessed foods. Fiber, exercise and water are not the issue.
I also have irritable bladder and chronic constipation that is also possibly caused by inflammation. I then went to a lyme specialist. He went over my symptoms and tested me for lyme disease. The test came back negative. He wanted to start me on doxycycline to see if this helped my condition. Prior to seeing the lyme specialist I started having more pain in my hands and feet. I also have terrible muscle pain I think because of inflammation in the body.
