Avatar n tn I was prescribed cefixime and doxycycline 100mg twice daily for 7 days. The pharyngitis was actually resolving itself by the next day before I had even started antibiotics, however I proceeded to take the prescribed antibiotics. Finally, about 10 days after the doxycycline treatment was "completed", the urethritis was gone.
Avatar f tn In February, it felt like like razor blades when I was urinating (I am a 38 y/o female). First I was diagnosed with a yeast infection and treated with diflucan and metrinazole, no better. I got a second round of treatment and it helped somewhat, but not much. My Dr. and I both surmised it may have had something to do with the depo shot, as this had been right after my 2nd shot. I began using probiotics and candex (natural remedies) with some relief.
Avatar m tn I was recently diagnosed with NGU and was prescribed doxycycline 100mg bid for 7 days. My physician said to abstain from sex until all the medication was gone. That is exactly what I did. I ended up having sex 4 to 5 hours after I took my last dose of doxycycline on day 7. Did I put my partner at risk by having sex so soon after treatment? Also, I took 13 out of the 14 pills. (I choked one of the pills back up and spit it out). Would that have an impact on the meds efficacy?
Avatar m tn had sex with same person 17 months back, but this time i had urethritis and gum bleeding, again had tetracyclines, but with an initial improvement, it took a protracted and non remitting course with persistent urethritis. it went on with new symptoms like testicular pain, pain during ejaculation, burning during urination, dry cough sometimes. tests showed hiv negetive, pyuria (16 puscells pe rhpf, ),culture negetive, normal blood count.
Avatar n tn Urologist put me on 10 days of Doxycycline. I took the complete dosage and the day after my last dose, when I masturbated, my semen was thick, and yellow. Almost like mucus. Is this a normal side effect of the medication ? She put me on it due to urethritis and what she felt was prostatitis... It just seemed strange the thickness and color but I know medications can do things like that. Thanks.
Avatar n tn As you also seem to be aware, one clue to viral urethritis is redness of the urethral opening, and the combination of urethritis plus conjunctivitis also is typical of adenovirus. Finally, the occurrence of the infection while you were taking ciprofloxacin and azithromycin, and the lack of response to the subsequent antibiotics, are strong evidence against gonorrhea, chlamydia, or other bacterial infections.
Avatar n tn m sitting down, and usually if I get up and walk around I feel better. I went to the doctor about a week ago and had some blood work done. All of the results for STDs, and a UTI came back negative. I'm currently taking Cipro but it doesn't seem to help. My physician said that it might be "nospecific urethritis" and would prescribe Doxycycline. From what I have read about post void drip, there doesn't seem to be any resolution. Has anybody had success with this problem?
Avatar m tn I've been diagnosed with Urethritis due to Staph Aureus. Doc prescribed Doxycycline for 10 days. I'm on day 7 and I still feel a mild burning sensation after urination, which goes away after one hour or so. I also feel here and there some feeling to pee more. But it's better than it was before the antibiotics. Would say 50% better. Anyway, should I still feel something after 7 days of antibiotics? I heard that urethritis takes some time to heal, about 1 to 2 weeks, is this correct?
Avatar m tn Azithromycin is a macrolide and doxycycline is a tretracycline. Different chemical make up, different mode of action, different drugs. When one has an infection, a doctor will start with a drug commonly used in that area.
Avatar m tn A couple weeks later, my urethritis and drip gets even worse and I start to have full on discharges.I get tested yet again, and I bring girl #1 with me. She's had absolutely no symptoms. She was even examined and the doctor said she looked fine.We both get Doxycycline and I feel better.Tests were negative.I then continued to have unprotected sex with girl #1 and everything is normal.A couple months later I start having sex with girl #2 again.
Avatar m tn Hello, im new to this site (29 year old Male) but here we go. Back in August 28, 2014 I was told I had chlamydia at the E.R. (hospital). I had the burning,  itching,  and clear discharge.  I was given doxycycline two 100mg pills for 10 days.. came back a week later after taking all of my meds Because symptoms were still present. For second visit, I was giving doxycycline again but this time it was one 100mg pill for 10days..
Avatar f tn sexually active people should get an std screening and understand how they are transmitted and learn what is safe sex and what is not. Tell your doctor the whole story so he or she can fully help you, only he and you would know about what you discussed. Good luck.

Avatar m tn Im also taking doxycycline for my skin which is suppressing the symptoms now, when i noticed it, i stopped taking doxycycline for about 3 days and my penis started to feel inflamated. Im calling today to make an appointment for this weekend, thank you so much for the help.
Avatar m tn We call this irritation non-gonococcal urethritis and treat it with either doxycycline or azithromycin. Thus in either case, you have been treated for the likely cause of your symptoms. In persons worried about STDs, the focus of their attention on their genitals tends to make normal sensations in the area more noticeable and to suggest to them that their infections have not resolved when actually they have.
Avatar m tn I am a 28 year old male and I got oral sex from a female sex trade worker 2 1/2 months ago (with condom - no slippage or breaks noted). I have had not had sex otherwise in more then 1 year though I am in a long term relationship. I have previously only had a couple of monogomaous relationships and no history of stds. Within two days I had penis tip pain. I have not had any lesions, or any discharge. I have not had any fevers, etc.
Avatar n tn It's been a year and a half since my exposure, which involved a insertive oral, the girl had bloody mouth. I've had dysuria, urethritis for a year and a half. Had taken levaquin, cipro, doxycycline, azythromycin, and cef. None worked. Could I have gotten genito-urinary tuberculosis, or tuberculosis urethritis from a bloody blowjob?
Avatar f tn I have been having painful urination for a few years off and on, but recently it has became unbearable. I went to a Urologist and he sent my urine off for culture and started be on Cipro. I did not have any relief and the culture did not grow anything out. He said the infection is more than likely in my urethra. He mentioned ureaplasma. I am currently taking 7 days of doxycycline 100mg twice a day. I finish tomorrow. My symptoms have improved a lot but I do not feel cured. I am worried.
Avatar m tn Of course I start freaking out thinking it is herpes, but a few days go by and it starts to burn when I pee and a slight irritation/burning feels occurs around my shaft, I go to the local healthcare doctor and he looks and says the red bump is just some folliculitis, and says all the burning from urination and the shaft irritation is is urethritis. He prescribes me doxycycline and I take that for 10 days.
Avatar m tn Resistance rates of 50% have been reported for ureaplasma and doxycycline. M hominis is resistant to erythromycin, azithromycin, and clarithromycin. Levofloxacin, another common drug, also has been shown to have a high failure rate for M genitalium. This is why knowing which infection you have is very valuable in determining the correct treatment. Also, being in Africa, I'd make sure you had a full battery of tests 3 months from now to look for all other STDs, especially HIV.
Avatar m tn either ceftriaxone (Rocephin) or doxycycline would abort incubating syphilis, and the two together guarantees syphilis would be eradicated. I suggest you lay off the internet. You're obviously very anxious about all this, and in that state of mind you will only find information to inflame and prolong your fears. All is well; nothing bad is going to come from this.
Avatar m tn By June 11th I had noticed a irritation inside the penis and more frequent urination and possibly small amount of discharge. I went to the doctor June 15th and he gave me a shot of Rocephin and doxycycline 100 mg twice a day for ten days. This did not seem to help with the iritation but I did not notice discharge anymore (this may have never been there).
Avatar m tn The symptom get more obvious later on till now. Some times, I feel kind of pain in the urethritis, totally durable and not heavy. But the uncomfortable feeling seems moving up along the urethritis and gets more irritating. Doc, do you think if I got some kind of NGU? Do I need to get tested and treated immediately? If I wants to be treated immediately, can I still take Azithromycin or doxycycline? Can I have unprotected sex with my wife?
Avatar m tn If I have screwed it up, what should I do? Should I contact the doctor and inform her what has happened and request one extra dose? Thank you for responding. God Bless.
Avatar m tn There is lots of speculation about it, largely because the symptoms of prostatitis and persistent urethritis are essentially identical. However, the few studies on this topic were unable to establish a link between NGU and prostatitis. That said, post-coital exacerbation of symptom in your friend certainly is consistent with a prostate problem. And the association with non-genital sex suggests an endogenous origin, not repeated new infections.
