I have been sick and my doctor ordered me to take a regiment of medication being prednisone, doxycycline and furosemide. I have been on the prednisone for 2 weeks now and he has ordered me to take 5 mg every 8 hours (he gave me 80 pills)
Would the prednisone effect my HIV results? Thank you.
I have tried elidel, protopic, tons of steroid creams, oitments, doxycycline, PUVA, epicream, prednisone and steroid injections. The only things that work are the injections and prednisone, but the immidiate side effects of prednisone are too much (face swelling ect...). Is there anything else I can do?!!?!?
My 70 lb lab mix is on Prednisone and doxycycline because he tested positive for heartworms. He has had excessive thirst peeing and panting, increased respiratory rate and heart rate .I'm concerned about this but the vet says it's necessary in order to prepare him for the immiticide injections. Anyone have a similar situation?
The Doxycycline worked until I stopped taking it. I took a 6 day supply of prednisone and that worked until I stopped taking it as well. I am now using OTC 1% hydrocortisone cream helps but still there. Any ideas? PLEASE HELP!

He was taken to the vet that evening and given a vitamin k and prednisone shot and re-hydrated. They have had him on doxycyline and prednisone tablets since then and before we give him those, he is given a carifate tablet to soothe his stomach. He seemed to be doing well until yesterday (November 6) when he has started to throw up blood again (dark red) and won't eat and has no energy.

Is this RH, I ran to the ER and they gave me 7 days of valtrex. the prednisone seems to help a lot at 60mg/day. After 3 days I began to regain my hearing but I still can't hear or PROCESS the word 'heart'

05% desonide for two weeks and a three week course of prednisone and it has not cleared. When I was taking prednisone and moisturizing liberally it seemed to be getting better but when i worked over the weekend and was only able to to moisturize at night it went back to the same as before. After finishing my prednisone course i have been moisturizing liberally with no results. Im looking for a second opinion as to what this is and how i can clear it?
(He was tested in July 2007 and this was negative.) He is now on doxycycline 100mg 2 in am, 2 at pm. Still not active and acts stiff and it is hard for him to get up and walk. He was fine until we started the prednisone.
I have impetigo and have been treating it with Mupirocin ointment. It was continuing to spread so I went back to the doctor and was prescribed Doxycycline. I've been on the oral antibiotics for 48 hours but still have little blisters popping up on my hands and arms (and just noticed today a couple on my stomach). They're little and stay little (about the size of a grain of rice), not like the large ones I had on my face and neck that showed up and became pea sized in a single day.

In my opinion, it would be wise to continue antibiotic treatment in case it happens to be Lyme because there is relatively no harm in taking the doxycycline, avoid the steroid and take something else for inflammation, and continue to monitor your symptoms. If symptoms persist, you may want to look in to possible co-infections also. These are just my thoughts and hope you feel better soon.
I brought him to my vet on Tuesday and we sent out blood and urine samples. The platelet count came back low, as did the CPK. The urine results were ok, except the RBC/HPF results were 4-10 (high), PH was 7.5and protein was 1+. He had some ticks prior to this episode, so my vet started tx with Doxy. All tick desease test came back negative though. Should I continue the Doxy? My dog ate today (quite a bit) and his energy level was almost normal.
Doctors that think outside the box believe the RA is caused by microscopic bacteria and doxycycline should be taking for a long duration to cure it. Hope this helps.

My lips got swollen and itchy, the indigestion-like lower abdominal pain returned, clear discharge returned, burning urination returned, but I was also experiencing slight conjunctivitis in both eyes and severe redness and itching around my rectum, groin, and penis. I received a steroid shot and prescription for prednisone. I was also retested for chlamydia and trich. I tested positive for Chlamydia. On December 12, I was prescribed Doxycycline for 10 days.
I had my gallbladder removed late November. After being readmitted for 10 days until Dec 8th, I feel better however in early January I started breaking out on my upper torso and face with pinprick bumps that look like pimples at first. Some are itchy and today, I still have them and nothing is working to get rid of them. After one round of it I still was having trouble and ended up in the hospital again being unable to breath, even with taking albuterol nebulizer treatments 4x a day. The hospital put me on prednisone 60mg for a week, and my primary doctor had initially planned for me to be on 60mg 3 days, then taper down by 10mg every 3 days until being done, as well as another round of levofloxacin.
I will try to keep this short and sweet. I found about 25 deer ticks on me. A few days later I called a Lymes specialist and they said that since it was so soon, they weren't going to do a blood test on me, just put me on medication. I am on months cycle of doxycycline. A few days after I removed all of the ticks, I started to get these itchy little red bumps all over. They started on my arm, then moved to my legs, back, chest, and groin.
The symptoms change every time, but the sore throat is continuous. The main symptoms are sore throat, shortness of breath while talking, and sweating. My doctor isn't sure what I have either. Thank you in advance for your help

the antibiotic I was thinking of is called Doxycycline and apparently its effective in 50% of cases. also there is a safer steroid you could try called Atopica 25mg and it seems by one of the posters it was effective in her kitty.
